Thumping win by Italy over Namibia marred by injuries to Riccioni, Marin

WINDHOEK, Namibia (AP) — Italy warmed up for its two rugby tests against world champion South Africa by thrashing Namibia 73-6 on Friday.
The margin was Italy's biggest in a test away from home, eclipsing the 61-point difference against Portugal in 1996.
Fullback Jacopo Trulla scored three of Italy's 11 tries.
The victory was marred by injuries to tighthead prop Marco Riccioni and inside center Leonardo Marin. Riccioni was taken off on a stretcher after the first maul, which was collapsed and led to a penalty try. Marin appeared to suffer a shin injury.
Italy next meet the Springboks in Pretoria on July 5.

Report – Villarreal & Rayo Vallecano Eyeing Up Deal For Fringe Inter Milan Defender

Villarreal and Real Vallecano are reportedly both keen to sign Inter Milan defender Tomas Palacios. This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that both La Liga clubs would have to make sales before they can sign the Argentine, however. Defender Tomas Palacios joined the Nerazzurri last summer. They reportedly paid a fee of over €10 million to sign him. However, so far Palacios has not exactly become a fixture in the Nerazzurri team. The young defender received only a couple of brief run-outs off the bench for Inter last summer. Then in January, Tomas Palacios joined Monza on loan. (Photo by) The intention for Palacios's loan at Monza was clearly for the young defender to receive more playing time. And the Argentine did certainly feature more than he had for Inter. However, at the same time, it was a difficult environment for Palacios. The Brianzoli were in a spiral towards relegation, and so it was often more experienced defenders who started. In any event, Tomas Palacios is back at Inter this summer after the end of his loan at the U-Power Stadium. Inter and Basel had been in talks for the Swiss side to sign Palacios on loan. However, those talks stalled out due to the inability of the two clubs to agree upon a fee. According to FCInterNews, though, there are two Spanish clubs keen on Palacios. Villarreal and Real Vallecano are both considering a move for the 23-year-old. FCIN report that Inter would want to loan Palacios out with a purchase option at €5-6 million.

Boland show fight again on dream Currie Cup journey to down Bulls

Boland were at it again in Wellington on Sunday, turning it on when it mattered most to come back from a deficit to down the Bulls 28-20. The Cavaliers are fast becoming the story of the 2025 Currie Cup, and this latest win sees them solidify their spot in the top four of the competition and stay on course for a semi-final berth. Going into the last 20 minutes of the match, Boland found thesmelves 20-14 down. Tries from Khwezi Mafu and Dayan van der Westhuizen, however, saw the hosts hit the front and they would not let that lead relinquish. Next week Friday in Mbombela, Boland will be on the road for what is arguably a season-defining outing against the Pumas, who are also very much in the playoff mix. Kick-off for that one is at 17:00.

What Nottingham Forest need to complete Douglas Luiz deal with Juventus

Recent reports claim that Nottingham Forest have an agreement on personal terms with midfielder Douglas Luiz, but the Premier League side still need to increase their offer to Juventus in order to close the deal. Juventus are looking to offload Douglas Luiz just one year on from his €50m arrival from Aston Villa, following what has been an underwhelming start to life in Italy for the Brazilian, which included just three Serie A starts in 2024-25. Several Premier League sides have expressed an interest in signing the Brazilian this window, but Football Italia understands that Nottingham Forest have been leading the race for several weeks. Forest have Douglas Luiz agreement, but no Juventus deal LEWISBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – JUNE 14: Douglas Luiz #26 of Juventus arrives at the airport prior to the official FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on June 14, 2025 in Lewisburg, West Virginia. (Photo by) According to recent updates from Fabrizio Romano and Forest have an agreement in place over a long-term contract with Douglas Luiz himself, but have not yet settled the deal with Juventus. Forest's opening offer reportedly stood at €30m, which the Bianconeri deemed too low. Calciomercato explains that Juventus require a fee in the region of €39m if they are to avoid making a capital loss on Douglas Luiz after only one year, given the €50m fee they spent last summer. Sunday's report suggests that an increase of a couple of million from Forest's original offer with the inclusion of performance-related bonuses, some easily achievable, could be enough to convince Juventus into selling.
