No clothes? No shoes? No problem! German politician invites Irish people to join him on Naked holiday
The Bavarian politician who went viral last month for his much publicised love of 'Naked Holidays' or 'Nakations' as they have been dubbed, has put the call out for any Irish people interested in 'whipping off the tweeds' and holidaying in the buff, to get in contact and join him and others in the South of France next month,
Julien Ferrat went viral all over social media last month when he called on all of Germany to come to a Naturist resort in the south of France for a liberating change of scene, relaxation and a whole lot more. Julien Ferrat, city councillor of Mannheim.
Mr. Ferrat, who is a councillor in the city of Mannheim, hopes that Irish people will drop their inhibitions along with their clothes and join him and many other like-minded sun seekers in a holiday with a difference, no clothes needed.
So, no need to pack two outfits per day plus evening wear, swimsuits, beach wraps, sandals and all the rest, just bring yourself in your own skin and you will be more than welcome.
However, its not just the liberating freedom of skinny dipping, shopping, dining, or people watching that Mr. Ferrat has planned. Cap d'Agde in France. Pic: Shutterstock
For this particular and some might say, 'peculiar' vacation, Julien Ferrat held a preparation 'sex camp' in Germany a couple of weeks ago, to prepare people for what's ahead, and also so that nobody would get any nasty surprises should they arrive unprepared.
Ferrat says the trip will be an eight night visit to a naturist village in the Cap d'Agde in Southern France well known as a paradise and a haven for nudists and swingers in the French countryside. Pic: Getty Images
Ferrat explained: 'In Cap d'Agde, sex on the beach is taken literally. And anyone who's always wanted to shop naked in the supermarket can easily indulge that desire there.
For anyone thinking along the same lines, wanting to indulge in a spot of nude sunbathing on one of the many stunning Irish beaches, during the beautiful summer weather we are all having at the moment, its good to know that being naked on a beach in Ireland is not 'illegal' but all it will take is someone to report you to the Gardai and they won't be long in putting a halt to your gallop.
But Mr Julien Ferrat will welcome you with open arms should you choose to 'drop everything' and race to the South of France for your hols this year.

Everybody stay calm! Harry Styles spotted in Ireland
Harry Styles has been delighting local Irish fans recently as he's in the Emerald Isle taking in some of our glorious landscape. The singer has been spotted in a few locations so far, most notably in Naas, Co Kildare, with a screenshot of a Snapchat post from his visit going viral. Fans took to social media to share their shock at seeing the One Direction star on our shores, with even the original poster of the Snapchat saying on the pic: 'Like, ladies what the heck?' One fan wrote that they were going to cry seeing him in Naas, while a few others joked that they were booking flights to Ireland to come find him. In another Instagram post, this time to a Harry Styles fanpage, there's a number of other photos of the 31-year-old from his trip, including one during a hike. There's also a photo of him with the Aer Lingus flight team who likely brought him to Ireland. Rumours are rife as to who might headline the venue next, especially after the death of Lord Henry Mount Charles at the age of 74 last month. U2 has emerged as the hot favourite for the gig, with Oasis also being tipped for the appearance, closely followed by Coldplay in third (hopefully with their Kiss Cam).

Serie of Heritage Week events planned at Sligo Abbey focussing on tours, tunes and song
And for Sligo Abbey, a heritage site that traces its foundation to the mid-13th century beginnings of Sligo town, it's a theme that couldn't be more appropriate. With this in mind, the OPW staff at Sligo Abbey has arranged a series of special events for every day of Heritage Week, all of which take their inspiration from 'foundations' of one kind or another. Sligo Abbey OPW Information Officer and Guide Trisha O'Loughlin will get events started on the 16th when she delves into the intriguing world of Irish mythology, beliefs and customs relating to Lough Gill and the foundation of Sligo itself. What promises to be fascinating hour-long talks will begin at 11am and 3:30pm, on the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th. Admission is free and no booking is required. On Wednesday, August 20th at 2pm, the Abbey presents 'Centuries of Sound', an event that will explore the rich and influential heritage of Irish traditional music in Sligo. It will include a talk by the musician, archivist and author Gregory Daly, whose essay 'Transcending the Limits of Our Time, Traditional Music in County Sligo' was published in the book 'Sligo, History and Society'. 'Centuries of Sound' will be followed by trad-fusion tunes and songs from The Cloister Boys, made up of two OPW staff at the Abbey, Barry Mulligan on ukulele, vocals and bodhran, and Harry Keaney, on banjo, whistle and bodhran. The Cloister Boys will also perform on Sundays 17th and 24th at 2pm. Guided tours of Sligo Abbey are available throughout the week. On Thursday, August 21st at 2pm, Harry Keaney will give a special tour focusing on the Dominicans, the religious order that occupied the Abbey for about 500 years from the mid-13th century, and whose successors remain in Sligo, in the Friary in High Street, to this day. Sounds and vibration are arguably the most primal of human experiences and on Friday, August 22nd at 8:30am and 6pm, there's the opportunity to experience a deeply immersive Gong Bath led by Marielle Barends, where sounds and vibrations will guide you into a meditative and restful state. Admission is free but booking is essential, contact the abbey or emailing sligoabbey@ Like to try charcoal drawing in the Abbey? All ages and abilities will be catered for with 'Art in theAbbey' on Saturday, August 23rd between 10:30am and 3:30pm. Admission is free but places must be booked in advance by emailing sligoabbey@ Children must be supervised; materials will be provided. Heritage Week will come to a close at Sligo Abbey on Sunday, August 24th with a number of guided tours, and a performance at 2pm by The Cloister Boys. Sligo Abbey's Head Guide, Dr. Andrew Whitefield, said he hoped there would be something for everyone, with events on every day through Heritage Week. 'The theme of 'Foundations' is perfect for Sligo Abbey, a historic site that traces its origins to the foundation of Sligo town itself. The Abbey has borne witness to all that's happened on the shores of the Garavogue River for almost eight centuries. You haven't truly experienced Sligo town if you haven't visited its stunning Abbey, with its 13th century origins. And this is something more and more people are discovering.. 'This year, we are on target for almost 50,000 visitors, an extraordinary number when only a few years ago, that number was fewer than 20,000. 'We're very proud to be able to offer such a rich historical experience to travellers along the Wild Atlantic. And Heritage Week is the ideal opportunity to spread that positive message far and wide.'

Ten years ago, CNN compiled a list of the things the French do better than anyone else. It included cheese, bread, museums, shopping, trains, fashion, customer service and sexiness.
