Chicago Air and Water Show sent the Cubs' dugout scrambling
It's just that, typically, those fly-bys don't happen in the middle of the game.
Players for the Chicago Cubs certainly weren't expecting it during Friday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the Chicago Air and Water Show had other plans. With planes practicing during the day ahead of the show, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, one of them gave the entire Cubs dugout quite a scare as players found themselves running for cover at the sound of the unknown threat.
It also led to an incredible broadcasting moment as it occurred during an ad read for Motorola, leading to one of the funniest sponsored line reads you will ever hear.
While the Cubs players were certainly startled, it didn't give them the energy boost they needed to emerge victorious as they lost 3-2 to the struggling Pirates.
But hey, at the very least, Motorola is probably pleased with the engagement.

Dennis Schröder praised Nikola Jokić for prioritizing family amid his greatness
To a hyper-competitive American audience, Nikola Jokić appearing not to prioritize his status as the best basketball player in the world can be jarring at worst and amusing at best. We don't often see professional athletes like the Denver Nuggets superstar center, who, despite his dominance, isn't necessarily placing his basketball greatness on a pedestal the way you might expect. Just like Scottie Scheffler and golf, Jokić has a much healthier relationship with the athletic talent that made him world famous. As Jokić tries to lead his native Serbia to its first men's EuroBasket title in nearly a quarter-century, this dynamic seems to be refreshing to some of his peers. Namely, Germany's (and the Sacramento Kings') Dennis Schröder. Before Germany took on Serbia in a EuroBasket exhibition on Saturday, Schröder beamed with respect for Jokić. He marveled at how "the best player in the world" wants to be remembered for being a father first, and everything else second. Perhaps that's what makes Jokić so special in the first place: More from BasketNews: "I find it fascinating that basketball really only comes second or third in his [Jokić's] life," Schroder said. He enjoys spending time with his family and his horses. He lives for the things that matter to him. He says he doesn't want to be remembered in the books for basketball, but for how good he is as a father. But as a player, he's the best in the world." It doesn't get any more real than that. While we sometimes laugh about how Jokić does (or doesn't) seemingly care about his job, it's worth remembering that those are only appearances from the surface. And even if basketball might be a secondary or tertiary focus to him, we should probably commend him for having his priorities in order, even with all of his fame and success. Above all, Jokić seems to have a really good head on his shoulders.

Anthony Hernandez saw enough of Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319: 'I'll drown him'
Anthony Hernandez got an up-close and personal look at the middleweight division's new kingpin, and it didn't take him long to decide he has what it takes to upend the throne. Hernandez is just a week removed from an utterly dominant main event win over Roman Dolidze at UFC on ESPN 72. The performance he put on was so impressive in Las Vegas that he was in Chicago on Saturday for UFC 319, though not officially as a backup fighter for the middleweight title main event. Still Hernandez (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) was asked for his official thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) and his unanimous decision win over Dricus Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) to take the title in the main event. Chimaev, roughly a 3-1 favorite in the fight, landed 12 takedowns against the champ that led to a total of nearly 22 minutes of control time. And though the strikes he landed never were of major consequence to Du Plessis, he landed more than 500 total strikes, mostly short shots on the canvas, at nearly 93 percent total accuracy. But Hernandez told ESPN he's got the formula to make Chimaev's reign one and done. "Congratulations to him. It was a f*cking pretty boring fight – I'm not going to lie," Hernandez said. "But call me for the (next title) fight. I can wrestle, I can do jiu-jitsu, I can stop all the sh*t, and I can shut him down. With my gas tank, I'll drown him, man – I promise. I'll make him f*cking work. "So call me – keep me in mind, guys, and I think you'll have a new f*cking Mexican-American champion." Hernandez has won eight straight fights. Six of them have been stoppages, including four for post-fight bonus awards. In the past 18 months, he has bonus-winning finishes of Roman Kopylov, Michel Pereira and Dolidze, plus a decision over Brendan Allen. The Pereira and Dolidze wins came in UFC main events. Chimaev said earlier in UFC 319 fight week that if he won the belt, it would be likely he'd want to fight on the UFC's return to Abu Dhabi in October.
