2026 Toyota Corolla FX Hatch Has White Wheels, GR Sport Seats

Edmunds06-05-2025
The current Toyota Corolla is getting a little long in the tooth, but while we wait for an all-new one, Toyota is having a little fun with its smallest car. The 2026 Corolla Hatchback FX Edition is new, and its goal is simple: Add a little style and exclusivity.
To that end, the FX comes with white wheels, a large rear wing in black, and a retro-inspired badge on the rear tailgate. It isn't much, but it does give the relatively ho-hum Corolla a dose of style that we genuinely appreciate. Plus, Toyota's only going to make 1,600 of these for U.S. customers, so they will be nowhere near as popular as the standard car.

Why Didn't I Think of the Flip-Up Truck Bed Cap?

The latest car news, reviews, and features. Being a pickup man, I'm a sucker for a good truck bed topper. I write about cool ones whenever I get the chance, whether it's a modern overlanding unit that stands out from the rest or a handcrafted, vintage-style one-off that took more than 100 hours to shape. I was pretty sure I'd seen them all until I stumbled across these super-roomy Matrix toppers by Black River that flip up for easy unloading. Why didn't I think of that? They come in different shapes in sizes, but no matter which one you pick, it's made with lightweight and durable .063 automotive-grade aluminum. The Matrix GT is the sleekest design, offering 105-120 cubic feet of storage with a lid that lines up with the roof of your truck. Then there's the Matrix ST, which sports the same capacity but more of an angular teardrop shape that works better for taller loads like dirtbikes. And finally, the big-boy Matrix XL fits on HD pickups with 6'9″ beds, offering 138 cubic feet of capacity when closed. Matrix GT Matrix GT Matrix GT Matrix ST Matrix ST Matrix ST Matrix XL Matrix XL Matrix XL It's tough to visualize how much cargo space that is without a comparison. For reference, a new Ford Expedition with the rear seats folded down features 108.5 cubic feet of storage, while the long-wheelbase Max models top out at 123.1 cubic feet. You get roughly that much, if not more, with the Matrix toppers. And because they flip up, you can access your cargo from every side. Their overall design is just plain smart. The bed caps lock with your truck, and for added security, there aren't any windows on the side; the only glass is at the very back, and it's tinted. There's a smoked third brake light as well. Struts mounted up by the cab keep the lid up while you retrieve whatever is in the bed, and a pull strap makes it easy to lower it back down. (Or, you could get really fancy and buy the power up-down kit for $995.) Black River The Matrix GT and ST toppers weigh between 120 and 130 pounds, so if you have someone else to help you take them off, you can do it in a pinch. As you'd expect, the Matrix XL is heftier at 180 pounds, but the struts on that model also have an increased capacity so you don't have to worry about them being overworked. Quality truck bed toppers are never cheap, and neither are these Matrix models. The GT and ST are $4,195, while the XL is $5,195. You can get them for virtually any modern pickup, but it's best to check Black River's site just to make sure they're compatible with your rig. I can tell you right now that if your Ram has a Ram Box, it won't work. It's a smart idea, and one that I kinda wish I'd thought of myself. Not because I have the first clue about how to manufacture something like this, of course. Just… you know… royalties or something. Got a tip or question for the author? Contact them directly: caleb@

GM wows with Corvette, Cadillac concepts at Monterey Car Week

CARMEL, Calif – GM brought some Detroit muscle to the rarified air of Monterey Car Week — with a twist. While the Corvette nameplate falls under the Chevrolet brand, more and more it stands out on its own. At The Quail event in Carmel Valley, where multi-million dollar Paganis are displayed alongside priceless gullwing Mercedes SL coupes (and the parking lot is a show in and of itself), Corvette showed off two concepts that showed where the sportscar is headed in the future. The CX and its racing-inspired twin the CX-R, evoke supercar looks that go beyond the current 'C8' Corvette. The two concepts feature fighter jet-style interiors, with a trick canopy opening to boot. The twist — the CX is all electric, which is becoming a rarity at the higher end, and the CX-R features hybrid power. The racy CX-R will also be a drivable car in the Gran Turismo 7 racing game on PlayStation. And the response, beyond the oohs and ahhs, was strong for vehicles that aren't going on sale. 'We've had a number of customers that have already said, 'Could we buy one of those vehicles today?,'' said Rory Harvey, EVP and President of Global Markets, from the Quail Event to Yahoo Finance. Harvey, who essentially leads on all GM brands globally, noted that customers were asking to buy a vehicle with no pricing info, and wouldn't even be released. It was a good opportunity though, to collect future client info from buyers who typically own multiple cars. 'Just listening to the customers, the enthusiasts that are on the stage, I mean, the feedback is outstanding,' Harvey said. The UK-born exec noted that Corvette, in his opinion, was already at supercar levels, with competitive lap times at places like the Nurburgring in Germany, and 38% market share in the luxury sports car segment, making it the leader. Harvey's purview extends to Cadillac, where the luxury brand showed off its 'Elevated Velocity' concept, a cross-over style EV SUV meant to evoke the high-desert landscape. The new design language may hint at more curves and swooping design, as opposed to Cadillac's traditional angular features and vertical light bars. Regardless, Cadillac as a brand has been on a winning streak with its combination of traditional gas powered cars like the Escalade and CT5 sedans, and EVs like the Lyriq and Optiq. 'Cadillac now has done 12 consecutive quarters of year-on-year growth, which is absolutely superb. But in quarter two, Cadillac is now the number one luxury brand for EVs. So again, that's really, really strong,' Harvey said. 'We've launched so many new products over the course of the last two years, and that momentum continues to build. So we're looking at, how do we keep our foot on the accelerator pedal and build even further?' Harvey said he wasn't terribly concerned over the upcoming loss of the EV tax credit, because the brand would be able 'flex' into its other gas-powered offerings like the XT crossovers if its EVs were not price competitive. While a nice game plan, it doesn't address the fact the company invested heavily in EVs, and might take a hit to sales. Another challenge is tariffs, where GM took a big hit in the second quarter and stands to feel more pain in the second half of the year. Harvey noted the trade deals in place are mostly preliminary, so when the details come out the company will have a hard look at its manufacturing footprint, product portfolio in terms of territory, and where the company can minimize its tariff exposure. 'We've publicly stated that we believe that we can mitigate approximately 30% of the impact of tariffs; so, we're in a strong position at the moment,' Harvey said of GM's ability to pivot around President Trump's tariff war. Harvey still believes GM is in a great spot regardless of tariffs, and it's because of products like the current Corvette and Cadillac portfolio — cars that are selling well in the marketplace. 'If you looked at just General Motors sales in the US, we are the fastest growing brand, full stop. And if you look to the nearest competitor, they're about half the level of growth that we've got. So customers love our products.' Pras Subramanian is the lead auto reporter for Yahoo Finance. You can follow him on X and on Instagram. Rotisserie-Restored 1971 Ford Torino GT Offered With Marti Documentation

⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious Show-quality 1971 Ford Torino GT, 351C V-8, Shaker scoop and Marti documentation, offered after rotisserie restoration with period-correct details. A meticulously restored 1971 Ford Torino GT — finished in Light Pewter Metallic with period 'laser' side stripes — has been listed for sale with comprehensive provenance and a long menu of factory-style equipment, the seller said. The SportsRoof coupe is powered by Ford's 351-cubic-inch Cleveland V8 with a four-barrel carburetor and paired to a C6 Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. A 3.25:1 rear axle ratio, power steering and power front disc brakes round out a driveline calibrated for highway cruising and confident stops. The restoration presents as a full rotisserie effort, with the car returning in colors and trim that match its factory specification. According to the listing, documentation includes an Elite Marti Report, the original window sticker and an electrical traveler inspection sheet from Ford's Atlanta Assembly Plant. The car's early history cites delivery to Golden Motors Inc. in Golden, Colorado. The underside of the deck lid bears the autograph of Bill Shenk, credited as the designer of the 1970 Torino. Visually, the Torino GT wears hallmark cues from the nameplate's early-'70s peak: hidden headlamps, a Shaker hood scoop with twist locks, dual color-keyed sport mirrors (left remote), rear 'sport slats' window louvers, tinted glass and the Visibility Group lighting package. Firestone Wide Oval raised-white-letter tires are mounted on Ford Magnum 500 wheels, reinforcing the period look. The cabin presents in black vinyl with high-back bucket seats, a center console and seat belts front and rear. Amenities include a Custom Autosound radio, air conditioning and heat. The seller notes a cleanly finished dashboard and trim, with attention paid to restoring switchgear, lenses and soft materials in line with the car's overall show-quality presentation. Mechanically, the listing emphasizes a smooth-running 351C and sorted ancillary systems. While exact mileage since restoration was not disclosed, the vehicle is described as turnkey, with additional walk-around video and more than 150 photos available for review. Prospective buyers are encouraged to verify option codes against the Marti Report and inspect typical Torino corrosion points, suspension bushings and brake hydraulics as part of routine due diligence. The Torino GT was positioned by Ford as a blend of fastback style and big-car comfort, and values have strengthened as period-correct examples with documentation become scarcer. This car's combination of factory-appropriate equipment, verified build data and show-level finish — capped by a designer's signature — is likely to attract bidders seeking a blue-chip slice of Ford's muscle-era portfolio. The seller says nationwide shipping assistance is available and third-party inspections are welcome prior to purchase.
