'I'm Fred and Rose West's daughter and I played dress-up in their victims' clothes'
Mae now lives a life far removed from the circumstances in which she was brought up by her parents.
The children of serial killers Fred and Rose West faced horrific abuse at the hands of their evil parents - including their daughter, Mae.
Since the notorious couple were imprisoned in 1995, Mae, now 53, has strived to lead a life that bears some semblance of normality, completely different from the monstrous individuals she once called Mum and Dad.
Her mum Rose was handed 10 life sentences after aiding her husband Fred in a killing spree of at least 12 women during the 70s and 80s in Gloucester - two of the victims being their own children, Charmaine and Heather West, reports the Mirror.
While Rose has consistently maintained her innocence, Fred evaded justice by taking his own life while awaiting a court trial. Now, three decades since being incarcerated at HMP New Hall, reports suggest that Rose, 71, who adopted the name Jennifer Jones in 2020, is becoming increasingly isolated and frail in her jail cell.
A source revealed to The Sun this week: "She's in a disabled room now because she can barely walk. No one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name."
Rose finds herself completely alone after severing ties with eldest surviving daughter Mae. Mae grew up at 25 Cromwell Street, one of eight children, but by the time she was born, they had already killed her half-sister Charmaine and her father's previous wife, Catherine 'Rena' West.
Bedtime stories or a goodnight kiss from her parents were non-existent, and toys were few and far between anywhere in their home. As a result, they often invented their own games - donning the clothes of their parents' victims for make-believe dress-up, which they discovered while confined to the cellar at night time.
By the age of seven, Mae endured severe sexual and physical abuse at the hands of her parents, with her own dad forcing her and her older sister Heather to view pornographic material with him. This grim future was something her older half-sister Anne Marie had already warned her about.
"One day, I went swimming with Anne Marie and she told me she'd been sexually abused by Mum and Dad," said Mae, who now lives in the West Country with her husband and two children.
"She said it had gone on for years and warned me they might try to do the same to me," she penned in her 2018 memoir, Love As Always, Mum.
It was even suggested that the depraved Fred harboured twisted intentions of impregnating his daughters, telling them: "I made you; I can do what I like with you."
Fred openly boasted about filming Rose having sex with random men while he was concealed in the wardrobe, Mae revealed to the Daily Mail. "I used to find it completely repulsive. Their fascination with risqué sexual activities was never hidden from us. They'd leave adult magazines and bondage equipment: masks, rubber suits, whips and the like, scattered around the house.
"It wasn't uncommon for us children to stumble upon dildos, vibrators and other intimate toys casually left around the home. Dad found our reactions more amusing than anything else."
With Fred and Rose exposing their offspring to sex at an early age, Mae, as a teen, was often enlisted to assist Rose, who had become a sex worker, in arranging appointments with her clients who would visit the house, even when the children were at home.
Rose also subjected her daughter to horrific abuse, once dragging a knife along her ribcage. Mae and her siblings lived in constant fear of their parents' threats that they would end up "under the patio" like their sister, Heather.
However, Mae does remember occasional breaks from the torment they suffered. "We ate meals and watched telly together, celebrated birthdays and Christmas, and went on family holidays," Mae wrote in her book.
"Mum used to bake splendid cakes. We'd always have a fantastic iced sponge for our birthdays and an equally delightful fruit cake laced with alcohol at Christmas time.
"She always made a real effort for special occasions and Christmas Day was the one day we truly felt like any other family."

Satellite pic from days after Maddie vanished shows eerie ‘tent' in Brueckner's camping spot now being searched by cops
MADELEINE McCann prime suspect Christian Brueckner stayed in a 'wild camping' ground on land now being scoured by cops, The Sun can reveal. Search teams have zeroed in on scrubland between Brueckner's old home and the apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal where Maddie was snatched in May 2007. 16 A recent satellite picture of the farmhouse 16 A satellite image of the farmhouse in 2007, seemingly with a tent inside 16 Police searching the abandoned building on Tuesday Credit: Dan Charity 16 Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Beurckner pictured arriving in to court in 2024 Credit: Dan Charity 16 Madeleine McCann disappeared in Praia da Luz, Portugal on May 3, 2007 Credit: AFP 16 And German police leading the hunt hope the convicted child sex fiend and rapist may have left vital clues which could finally nail him for Maddie's murder. Searchers were yesterday focusing on at least five derelict farmhouses and barns where Brueckner camped at the time the British tot was taken. Sun analysis of a June 2007 satellite image of one building being searched yesterday revealed what appeared to be a white tent pitched within its walls. The stone-walled property was photographed from space on June 22, 2007 - seven weeks after Maddie was taken from her family's Ocean Club apartment a five minute drive away. Recent pictures of the same spot show the building's massive deterioration - and lay bare the enormous task facing police seeking elusive scraps of DNA evidence. The 2007 images shows the roofless cottage or barn is approximately 58ft long by 25ft wide with a white, 9ft tent like structure pitched inside its walls. It is impossible to say whether the building was occupied by Brueckner or one of a number of hippie types living in the area in camper vans and tents at the time. But fading hopes of finding evidence linking him to the three-year-old British tot were also being hampered by the march of time yesterday. Chain saws and diggers were drafted in to excavate ground and clear thick undergrowth which has overwhelmed many of the abandoned buildings. And luxury holiday homes have been built on other key spots within a ten acre area being combed by scores of Portuguese and German cops. 16 The abandoned house was scoured in the first day of the Maddie search Credit: Dan Charity 16 The barn was filled with overgrown shrubbery 16 A mugshot of Christian Brueckner Teams spent yesterday toiling in 29C heat at the seaside search plot in an area called Atalaia, a mile east of the Ocean Club and half a mile from Brueckner's old house. Ground penetrating radar scanners - capable of finding bodies 15 feet below ground - were also drafted into the grim search. Locals said the spot close to a cliff was once a romantic spot where Portuguese couples would canoodle after dark in their cars. But by the early noughties the open scrubland offering sea views and no parking charges attracted a foreign 'wild camper' set - believed to include Brueckner. Police are believed to have launched their 'last throw of the dice' search after tip-offs from associates about the area and geolocation checks of his computer hardware. Local man Joao Pedro, 63, who grew up in the area, told The Sun: 'It used to be a romantic spot - I used to take my girlfriends there. 'But at the time Maddie went missing in the noughties it was very popular with foreign campers and you'd see camper vans and tents there all time. 'It was totally unregulated back then and strangers would just pitch up and stay there for free and no one would bother them.' 16 Police will be searching scrub land, using radar equipment 16 A firefighter draining a well with a yellow hose pipe 16 One of the derelict and abandoned properties close to Praia De Luz, Portugal, which has been searched by teams investigating on Wednesday 16 Kate (R) and Gerry McCann hold pyjamas similar to those of their daughter during a press conference in 2007 Credit: Getty A police source at the scene told The Sun yesterday that searches were focusing on the area because Brueckner used to camp in the buildings. One officer said: 'We are here because Brueckner used to camp here. Not only Brueckner but many people.' The Sun also examined historic satellite imagery showing Brueckner's single story house around half a mile from the current search site at the time of the abduction. Images recorded in 2006 and 2007 show vehicles resembling his distinctive VW camper van nearby. He moved out of the white and yellow bungalow in late 2006 but a white roofed van still appears to be parked outside it in June 2007 after Maddie was snatched. A white structure erected close to his house in 2006 when he lived there also appears to have vanished the following year. Imagery also shows scores of open wells across the entire search area which were being drained and methodically checked for clues yesterday. Wider satellite pictures taken in 2007 show a string of building plots around the current search area - which have since become luxury homes and holiday estates. The worst fear of officers is that Brueckner could have hidden Maddie's body or vital clues in the foundations of buildings which would now be impossible to excavate. Hopes that telltale fragments of clothing - like the missing tot's pink Eeyore pyjamas - might be found are also remote. German federal officers are racing against time to find vital DNA clues after the 48-year-old fiend Brueckner boasted he would 'go to ground' when he is released in September. The vile pervert - who cops are convinced took and killed Maddie - is currently due to finish a seven year sentence for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005. A Portuguese police source said last night: 'This really is a last ditch effort - search teams here are hoping they get lucky. 'Officers are determined to do everything they possibly can before Brueckner walks free. They know what is at stake.' 16 A criminal police investigator walks near ruins as police resume the search for the body of Madeleine McCann today 16 One of the derelict and abandoned properties close to Praia da Luz 16 One abandoned house was scoured earlier on Wednesday

Rare pic of Madeleine McCann's brother amid fresh search for toddler in Portugal
Sean and his twin sister Amelie were just two when Madeleine disappeared 18 years ago. The parents of missing Madeleine McCann are helping their son reach his goal of becoming a gold medal Olympic athlete as investigators search for a trace of his sister. Madeleine, who went missing at the age of three in 2007 in the Algarve, has two younger twin siblings. A round of fresh searches began for Madeleine this week. Portuguese and German investigators are combing through land in the municipality of Lagos, near Praia da Luz in search for a trace of the girl who would now be 22-years-old. While the investigation gets underway, her brother, Sean McCann, an elite swimmer, is training for a possible shot at Olympic glory. Sean and his twin sister Amelie were just two when Madeleine disappeared 18 years ago. During that time, Sean, 20, has become a highly accomplished swimmer tipped to join Team GB in Los Angeles in 2028. Earlier this year, he was captured on camera with a gold medal around his neck after competing in a Mediterranean open water swimming lesson. He has racked up a series of other impressive achievements, with both he and his sister currently doing well in their studies at university. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Brian Kennedy, the pair's great-uncle, said Kate and Gerry have been very "pleased" with the twins' achievements. The Mirror reports that Sean is studying chemical engineering, and has been swimming competitively for nearly a decade, revealing in 2023 that he has braved 4m starts to swim before school since he was 11. He added that he also visits the gym for intense training three times a week. He next plans to represent Scotland at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. He recently wrote on a local website that he has been a high-flying swimmer for some time, having won "multiple county titles" after being selected to swim at City of Leicester. He wrote: "At the age of ten, I was selected to swim at City of Leicester, and I have since gone on to win multiple county titles, as well as becoming regional and national champion in my age group. In order to have achieved this, I have had to remain extremely dedicated, getting up at 4am multiple mornings each week to train." Sean represented Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2023, making it to the 400 and 1500m Freestyle finals. He's also know to be a keen Open Water swimmer, and is part of the country's National Open Water Development Squad. Meanwhile, Amelie has her own sporting achievements, having competed in a series of cross country and triathlon events while studying at a university in the north of England.
