Michel Ange Balikwisha to Celtic transfer addressed by agent as winger's private feelings made clear
Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha's agent has lifted the lid on a potential move to Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers is looking to add more firepower to his frontline - with a new winger on the Parkhead shopping list this summer.
Reports in Belgium had suggested that 24-year-old Baliikwisha is a target for the Scottish Premiership champions with claims that a deal was "close" to bring wide man to Glasgow's east end.
Sporting director at cash-strapped Antwerp Marc Overmars has admitted that the club are open to selling their key men - with Balikwisha expected to be on the list of departures with his contract set to expire next summer.
However, the player's representative Jibril Rekkab insists that while the Belgian is not against the idea of a move to Celtic - but talks have yet to take place.
He told Record Sport: "Michel-Ange is not closed to the idea of joining Celtic, but the club would still have to come forward. No discussions are underway."
Celtic have been keen on the 24-year-old winger for more than a year and were ready to move before he suffered his last injury.
The Hoops have already sold Nicolas Kuhn to Como for more than £17 million and Balikwisha is one of their top wide options they see as his replacement.
Meanwhile, Celtic have been urged to put their best bid forward if they want to firm up their interest in Cukaricki midfielder Andrei Bacanin.
The 18-year-old has also been linked with Ajax, Udinese and rivals Rangers. Cukaricki sports director Vladimir Matijasevic has admitted that their young Serb is likely to be sold amidst growing interest over the next week or so.
Matijasevic said: 'There is a lot of interest in our young players and currently the focus is on the transfer of Andrej Bačanin.
'He attracted the attention of numerous clubs by playing for our team last season, but also for the Serbian national team at his age.
'We've had calls from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, Ajax, Udinese, and some other teams are interested.
'It is possible that some other options will appear and I expect the transfer to be realized in the next ten days.
"I expect that this will be another big outgoing transfer from Čukaricki, which would cover the budget of our club".
The Hoops are also likely to confirm Marco Tilio's move to Rapid Vienna in the coming days.
Record Sport revealed that the Austrians were closing in on a deal for the Australian international.
The move will see Tilio move to Rapid on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for around £1.5 million after he makes a set amount of appearances.

Craig Gordon has revealed that he will not be fit in time for Hearts' Scottish Premiership opener against Aberdeen next week and will likely miss a decent chunk of the early stages of the new campaign. The 42-year old was honoured at Tynecastle with a testimonial match as the Jambos comfortably saw of English Premier League side Sunderland 3-0. Gordon, the man of the moment, started the game but immediately booted the ball out of play and was subbed off for Zander Clark. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad After the match, he revealed the extent of his ongoing injury problem, saying: 'I was desperate to try and play longer in the game, but it became too difficult. The medical team didn't want me to do it. It was too dangerous for them to allow me to play any longer than that, so it became the decision that I would start the game, but I have to come off.' Craig Gordon to miss Hearts vs Aberdeen Scottish Premiership opener and more He continued: 'It's more than a few weeks away, so it's not anything that's that close at the moment, but I need to keep working away. Everything this week was geared towards this game, but now it's finished. 'I'll get back into the rehab this week and keep pushing to see how quickly I can get back. There's no real time limit on it. It's very difficult to say how long I'll be out for, but I'll just get back in the gym and work as hard as I can to make that as short a time as possible. 'I had a disc problem in my neck and it's caused a nerve problem down my arm. I'm not in any pain. The nerve causes a bit of tingling down my arm and it's caused a little bit of weakness in my arm. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Basically, if I can get rid of the weakness and get the strength back, then I'm good to go. Everything else feels really good. I can do everything else in training, but the strength just isn't there at the moment to be able to deal with a full game. 'That's the focus over the next few weeks, to try and build that up. It's not going to be straightforward, but it's something that I'm working on. It's just a rehab. For me, it's about trying to get back as quickly as possible, get myself out on the training pitch and join in with the boys and start trying to push to get back in the team.' Asked if it could require surgery, Gordon said: 'I wouldn't have thought so. I've seen the specialists and it doesn't look like it, but it will take a bit of time.' Special afternoon for Hearts' hero Craig Gordon as home and away fans show appreciation Despite not being able to play the way he wanted to, Gordon was still full of appreciation for the almost 18,000 supporters that showed up at Tynecastle. Both sets of fans let him know just how much they appreciated his contribution to their clubs. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Today has been brilliant,' said Gordon. 'Right from the very beginning, I was here three or four hours kick-off and seeing the lounges, seeing as many people as I could. 'I was out in the plaza for a bit with all the activities going on out there, signing autographs, taking pictures and just trying to see as many of the fans as I could. Thank everybody for coming. It's been a huge turnout. 'One of the best friendly attendances or testimonial attendances I can ever remember at Hearts. That is very just shows what the Hearts fans can do. We get semi-finals, finals, they turn up their numbers, they sell out their allocation and today they've proved that to me once again by turning up huge numbers for this. How special a fan they really are. 'I've had messages from other players that I've played with this morning wishing me all the best and former coaches. All those things, it's been a crazy day. There's been so much. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'We're going home for a rest now but the amount of messages from everybody, fans, former teammates, coaches, it's been totally overwhelming. It's been a fantastic day, one I'll never forget. I mean everybody's just wishing me well and hoping that the day goes well. Asking if I was playing, everybody wanting to know how I was getting on with the injury.'

Hearts gaffer McInnes talks Sunderland rout, Braga & Aberdeen league opener
Hearts comfortably saw off Premier League Sunderland in their final pre-season fixture while honouring Craig Gordon. Sign up to our Hearts newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Did you know with a Digital Subscription to Edinburgh News, you can get unlimited access to the website including our premium content, as well as benefiting from fewer ads, loyalty rewards and much more. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... Hearts made Sunderland look second best in every area of the park as they swept the English Premier League side aside 3-0 in Craig Gordon's testimonial match. Head coach Derek McInnes acknowledged that his side were some way ahead of their opponents in terms of their respective pre-seasons but was pleased all the same with the manner of the victory. Claudo Braga, Lawrence Shankland and Alexandros Kyziridis scored the goals as the Jambos wrapped up their final preparations before next week's Scottish Premiership opener against Aberdeen. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Speaking after the Sunderland match, McInnes said: ' I think I've been so happy with the pre-season as a whole. Players have been fully committed, fully motivated. Hearts put Sunderland to the sword in Craig Gordon testimonial match 'I think it played out really in that performance. You come through the various training and put the demand on them through the hard work. 'The week before we go to Spain, then we play a couple of friendlies, then you go into the League Cup business and everything seems to be quite straightforward. But there's always that feeling of we've not really played a team of a similar level or better than us. 'It was almost a perfect day for Craig and the family. But for us at Hearts in the dressing room, the whole thing culminated in a really strong performance against a team who have spent over £100 million in terms of transfers to be ready. They're a team that used to win and they've come up from the Championship for a reason because they're literally good players. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'It was important for us, despite us being ahead of them in their preparation, clearly, it was important for us to try and take a step forward and not be cowed by playing against good players, but almost to take that challenge on. The team picked was a team with Sunderland's shape in mind. We couldn't know what would be about us. 'They're a possession-based team, their movement is first class. They've got a brilliant manager who does a really good job with them and they test your organisation. So we set up with a team that we thought could nullify that in a sense. It would always be our view of going to a back four in the second half, which we did. 'I thought in both systems, the players' intelligence was as much as pleasing as their commitment. We scored some very good goals.' Claudio Braga was the player who opened the scoring, turning in a pin point accurate cross from Oisin McEntee with a fine header. That makes it four goals in total since his summer move and he's a player the gaffer was full of praise for. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'He's a boy who's so willing to work,' said McInnes. 'He's desperate to please. He's also got the quality to go in the back of that but with that quality, there's a real honesty. He's desperate to do well in a hard shirt. He's living his best life when he signed here. He couldn't be any happier. 'I think that plays out on the pitch, to be honest. So, he's really embraced us so quickly. The fans will really take to him if he keeps scoring goals, first and foremost. But even aside from his goal, his work rate and his link-up play has been very good.' Hearts transfer news latest from Derek McInnes There is still plenty of transfer business expected at Tynecastle before the window shuts both incomings and potentially outgoings. McInnes was asked about Valur Reykjavik midfielder Tómas Bent Magnusson, who the Evening News reported an offer has been made, and players who could exit before the end of August. 'I don't really want to comment on anything until anything's over the line,' McInnes said on Magnusson. 'So, you know, I think, like with all signings, we always seem to keep it in a secret at heart, so everything gets out. And we're interested in a few players.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad In terms of potential outgoings, he added: 'I've been speaking to the boys regular, and I can't guarantee certain boys a lot of game time. So these conversations have been ongoing, really. I want to work with boys who work hard. 'There's a lot of boys here, all of them want to stay part of it, and are motivated to stay part of it. But ultimately, when the games start properly, as you indicated, it's difficult to keep everybody happy. We've got a few injuries at the minute, which is making sure we're a wee bit stretched in certain areas than we are in others. But I think that will all come quite naturally over the next few weeks, to be honest. 'You know, players want to play, and if they're not going to play, then it can be difficult for them. But in terms of me trying to shove players out the door, it's none of that. No player has shown anything other than a first-class approach to their work.'
