No rift over smart road inauguration: Kerala minister M B Rajesh
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Local Self-Government Minister M B Rajesh has dismissed rumours that he had expressed dissatisfaction to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over being sidelined from the Smart Road inauguration event. Rajesh clarified that his absence from the function was due to prior commitments and not indicative of any discord.
'There are no differences of opinion within the council of ministers,' he said. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister's Office also issued a clarification regarding Pinarayi Vijayan's absence from the controversial May 16 event. The CMO stated that reports suggesting a deliberate snub were politically motivated attempts to undermine the credibility of the state government's fourth anniversary celebrations, which are currently under way.
There were reports that the LSGD minister stayed away from the road inauguration due to differences with Works Minister Mohammed Riyas.

Telangana Cabinet to meet twice a month to accelerate policy implementation; earlier met once in 2-3 months
In a major administrative reform to improve governance and accelerate policy implementation, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided that the Telangana cabinet will convene twice a month going forward. Cabinet meetings will now be held every 15 days, specifically on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The Chief Minister instructed officials to make necessary arrangements to ensure regular and structured cabinet sessions, allowing for continuous monitoring and timely decision-making on key issues. Chief Minister's Office calls it a 'progressive step' that would ensure greater accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the functioning of the State government. This marks a clear departure from the earlier practice of holding cabinet meetings once every two to three months. 'To avoid delays in critical policy decisions and to ensure dynamic governance, the Chief Minister has instituted a bi-monthly cabinet schedule,' an official said. The Chief Minister is of the view that frequent cabinet meetings would allow ministers to engage in ongoing reviews and make necessary corrections and interventions in real-time. The decision also reflects the government's focus on field-level evaluation of welfare schemes and development projects. Since the Congress-led government assumed office, 17 cabinet meetings have already been conducted. Officials noted that the new schedule would also help align the government machinery with the evolving needs of various sectors, including agriculture, health, education and infrastructure.

60 tribal families still await permanent housing in Palakkad's Parambikulam
PALAKKAD: "Each file represents a life." For the past nine years, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has repeated this powerful message several times to government officials urging them to treat every file with humanity and compassion. But in the dense forests of Parambikulam in Palakkad district, the same message seems to have been lost in the bureaucracy. In the Uravanpadi tribal hamlet alone, 30 fully constructed houses completed back in 2023 remain unused and locked, simply because authorities are yet to assign them house numbers, leaving as many families without the safe shelter they were promised. Another 30 houses spread across Sungam, Earth Dam, Thekkady and Poopara tribal hamlets initiated as far back as 2019 continue to languish in the final phase. Shockingly not a single department appears to have clarity on the reasons behind the delay 'Criminal Negligence' These shocking details were un-earthed when the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Committee of the Kerala Legislative Assembly held a review meeting of various departments at the Forest Department Information Centre in Anappadi, Parambikulam, regarding the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the district.
