‘They were always together': Revere community mourns 3 women who were found dead on vacation

The community in Revere came together Tuesday night to honor three women who were found dead while on vacation in Belize.
Imane Mallah, Wafae El-Arar, and Kaoutar Naqqad grew up together in Revere. All three of them were found dead in their hotel room Saturday.
Destiny Borges-Kelley is devastated after learning about the deaths of three of her friends.
'I was just with them like last week,' said Destiny Borges-Kelley.
'Unimaginable': Mayor questions investigators after 3 Revere women found dead at Belize hotel
She says the girls were excited for their vacation in Belize to celebrate Wafae's 26th birthday.
'One day I was with Wafae shopping for the trip, and she was just showing me what she was buying and getting her nails done, she would not stop talking about it,' said Borges-Kelley.
Hundreds of people came together Tuesday night for a vigil inside the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects Mosque in Revere. The three women all shared Moroccan heritage.
'It's just amazing how the community has come out for them,' said Ira Novoselsky, a Revere City Councilor.
Police in Belize say the bodies of these three women were found inside their beachfront hotel room.
A local news report indicated gummies and alcohol were found in the room, and authorities there believe they died from an overdose.
'It's hard to hear that when I know who they are, I know they wouldn't do the things that people are saying they would,' said Borges-Kelley.
'We're getting stonewalled, Belize people are just saying their side of the story, but I'm sure there's more to it,' said Novoselsky.
Revere city leaders as well as the victims' families want more answers as to how they died.
Councilor Novoselsky knew Kaoutar and lives next to her family.
'I was with them this morning, and I actually brought more chairs up for them because they had hundreds of people coming to their home,' said Novoselsky.
He says the girls were young professionals in the medical field and part of a tight-knit community now shattered by this devastating loss.
'They were always together,' said Borges-Kelley.
The mayor of Revere also says he's pushing for more transparency on this case.

Former House speaker, husband killed in politically motivated shooting, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz confirms that former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed Saturday in a politically motivated shooting. A second legislator was wounded on Saturday in attacks. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP's earlier story follows below. CHAMPLIN, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota mayor says two state lawmakers were shot in their homes early Saturday. Mayor Ryan Sabas of Champlin said state senator John Hoffman and state representative Melissa Hortman were shot, and that Hoffman's wife was also shot. A person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press that investigators believe that the suspect may have been posing as a law enforcement officer. The person said investigators were still working to establish motive for the attacks and were still in the early stages of an investigation. Gov. Tim Walz said the shooting was targeted. Hoffman, a Democrat, was first elected in 2012. He runs Hoffman Strategic Advisors, a consulting firm. He previously served as vice chair of the Anoka Hennepin School Board, which manages the largest school district in Minnesota. Hoffman is married and has one daughter. Hortman is the top House Democratic leader in the state Legislature and a former House speaker. She was first elected in 2004. Hortman, a lawyer, is married and has two children. Both Hoffman and Hortman represent districts located north of Minneapolis. The shootings happened at a time when political leaders nationwide have been attacked, harassed and intimidated during a time of deep political divisions. GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention organization led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement. 'I am horrified and heartbroken by last night's attack on two patriotic public servants,' Giffords said. 'My family and I know the horror of a targeted shooting all too well. An attack against lawmakers is an attack on American democracy itself. Leaders must speak out and condemn the fomenting violent extremism that threatens everything this country stands for.' Giffords was shot in the head in 2011 by a gunman who killed six people and injured 12 others. She stepped down from Congress in January 2012 to focus on her recovery. This is a developing story. Kelley Limp Wolf Accuses Scott Of 'Abuse' In Tense Livestream With Police

Just days after announcing her split from "Party of Five" actor , was seemingly taken into police custody in a moment that played out, unintentionally, on Instagram Live. The dramatic incident unfolded during a livestream in which the screen remained mostly black, but audio clearly captured the tense exchange between Kelley and two responding officers. Toward the end of the video, Kelley Limp Wolf's face briefly appeared alongside the officers, and what sounded like the click of handcuffs could be heard. 'I'll go on my own. Please, I'll go on my own,' Kelley said in the video, before one of the officers asked, 'You got that arm?' Moments later, a loud metallic clink, believed to be handcuffs, was heard. While one officer assured Kelley she was 'not going to jail,' he also explained that her recent behavior had raised red flags. 'You've made some comments to your dad, and comments to people that are concerning,' he said. Kelley, a life coach and mother of three, grew increasingly upset as the exchange continued, telling the officers they should be 'ashamed' of themselves and accused them, and her estranged husband, of mistreatment. 'Scott Wolf has been abusing me and now you're abusing me more,' she said. There is no evidence to support these claims, and it is unclear what she meant by 'abuse.' Throughout the encounter, Kelley repeatedly asked that the livestream be turned off, at first unaware it was even broadcasting. 'You might wanna turn this off,' she told the officers. 'Would you like me to turn it off?' One officer offered to stop the recording, to which Kelley replied, 'Please turn it off. Please.' Shortly after the video went viral, Kelley took to Instagram Stories to claim she had been 'taken against my will,' and shared a photo of her belongings laid out in front of her, including a handbag, baseball cap, and Gatorade bottle. 'This is horrible. I have been taken against my will. Please check in on my kids,' she wrote. 'Also… I am happy!! Happier than I have ever been. I have NO idea why or how this is happening in AMERICA.' Kelley continued, 'I am compliant, calm, and respectful, and hopefully this is all sorted very quickly. In the meantime, be kind to each other. This is one of the darkest things I've ever experienced.' According to PEOPLE, she was taken to a Utah hospital following the encounter. 'Deputies responded to the Sundance Resort for a report of a female that needed some help,' law enforcement said in a statement. 'Upon speaking with the female, our Deputies learned that she had made concerning comments to a family member, and she also made similar comments to our Deputies.' 'For that reason, our Deputies transported the female to a local hospital," they added. The unexpected incident follows a heartfelt message Kelley posted earlier in the week announcing her and Scott Wolf's divorce after 21 years of marriage. 'It is with a heavy heart that Scott and I are moving forward with the dissolution of our marriage,' she wrote in an emotional Instagram update. 'This has been a long, quiet journey for me, rooted in hope, patience, and care for our children.' 'Scott Wolf is one of the best fathers I've ever known and one of the best partners a woman could have the privilege of sharing life with,' she added. 'He is kind, thoughtful, funny, and beautiful in spirit. We both look forward to an extraordinary life centered around the most extraordinary children. My priority has always been their wellbeing, and my own healing. That will never change.' Scott also addressed the split with a brief statement confirming the divorce, adding that the couple remains committed to co-parenting their three children, Jackson, Miller, and Lucy. "After 21 years of marriage, I have made the most difficult decision of my life, and filed for divorce from my wife Kelley,' he said in a statement per PEOPLE. 'Our children have always been, and continue to be, the loves of our lives and our every priority, so I kindly ask for privacy at this time as we help guide them through this new chapter." Scott and Kelley met in 2002 and tied the knot in 2004. The latest incident adds a surprising and deeply personal layer to what had, until now, been a relatively private separation.
