IGP Kashmir reviews security ahead of Kheer Bhawani mela
Srinagar, May 31 (UNI) Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range, Vidhi Kumar Birdi on Saturday reviewed the security arrangements ahead of Kheer Bhawani Mela.
The main function of Mela Kheer Bhawani is scheduled to be held on June 3 at the village of Tulmulla in the Ganderbal district.
'All arrangements are in place to facilitate the devotees while tight security arrangements are also put in place,' the IGP said.
He said that necessary arrangements, along with heightened security, are made for the devotees expected to visit the temple not only from within the parts of Jammu and Kashmir but from across the country.
A batch of Kashmiri Pandit devotees will also be flagged off for Ganderbal district from Jammu on Sunday.

AP In a major development, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday suspended Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda and several other senior police officials in connection with the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed 11 people. He also ordered the arrest of representatives of the RCB team, the event management firm DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), hours after an FIR was registered against them under various charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister also announced a one-man judicial probe, headed by Justice Michael D'Cunha, a retired High Court judge of Karnataka, into the tragic incident. 'We have told the commission to give the report in 30 days,' Siddaramaiah said. Charges in the FIR included voluntarily causing hurt (section 115), voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by using dangerous weapons or means (section 118), voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty (section 121) and unlawful assembly (section 190) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The state government will have to own its failure. He also alleged that the 'mutual fight and rift' between the two led to the state 'government-manufactured stampede' and asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to break his silence over the tragic incident. We are not blaming others, though it has happened very unexpectedly,' he said. Reacting to allegations by the opposition that police had not permitted celebrations, he said, " I don't want to react to any of these BJP guys. I am only answerable to the people of Karnataka and the people of the country. All BJP persons are nonsense… They are also the masterminds of these dirty things." He also accused the opposition BJP and JD(S) of playing politics on dead bodies and said that the state government has taken full responsibility for the incident. The state government also submitted a status report to the high court, informing that the investigation into the stampede has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Police officers told not to post photos in uniform on social media
Police officers in Tamil Nadu have been directed not to post their photographs in uniform in social media handles. They have also been told to refrain from sharing confidential information and details of criminal cases in interviews to Television/YouTube channels, podcasts etc in personal capacity. In an order issued to all officers in the rank of Superintendent of Police and above in the State, the Director-General of Police and Head of Police Force Shankar Jiwal said it had come to notice that some officers were posting official matters, including important duties and responsibilities, and their photographs in official uniform, on their personal social media handles. A few officers had given interviews to social media channels in their personal capacity and shared official information relating to cases, victims, accused persons, etc. 'It has also come to the knowledge that some officers attend private functions in official uniform and share sensitive official information,' Mr. Jiwal said and referred to the All India Services (Conduct) Rules and the Tamil Nadu Subordinate Police Officers' Conduct Rules which restrained them from doing so. Mr. Jiwal said going by the conduct rules a police officer invited or intending to participate in a television programme or deliver a broadcast talk should intimate to the government of the particulars relating to the programme or the subject on which he/she proposed to talk. If need be, the entire content to be published should be submitted to the authorities concerned for approval. The DGP said wherever required, approval of senior officers in hierarchy should be obtained by subordinate officers for vetting content and obtaining clearance for participation in private functions and interviews. In case of any violation, action would be taken under the provisions of the conduct rules. 'All officers shall strictly adhere to these instructions and also issue necessary instructions to others within their jurisdiction in this regard,' he said. According to police sources, another advisory was issued asking Commissioners/Superintendents of Police to give short video interviews explaining the content of official press releases issued on various matters.

Lucknow trader dead, 2 injured in e-way accident
Kanpur: A Lucknow-based surgical equipment trader died while two others were injured in the Auras police station area of Unnao in a hit-and-run case on Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Thursday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The accident occurred when a high-speed truck hit a stationary car parked in the parking lane near Hajipur Gosha village at around 4am on Thursday. Aditya Singh (24), son of Krishna Kumar Singh, a trader dealing in surgical equipment, and resident of Geetapalli Alambagh, Lucknow, was travelling to Agra by car with his younger brother Abhay Singh (21) and friend Mohit (23), son of Omprakash Kashyap from Jayrajpur, Lucknow. Mohit was driving the car. When they reached near Hajipur Gosha village in Auras police station area, they stopped the car in the parking lane of the Expressway for a short break. As soon as the trio three opened the car door to get back in, a high-speed truck coming from Lucknow hit them. Aditya died on the spot, while his brother Abhay and friend Mohit sustained severe injuries. Upon being informed, the rescue team from UPEIDA and the police arrived at the scene. Both injured were admitted to Auras CHC. Due to the severity of Abhay's condition, he was referred to Lucknow Trauma Center while Mohit, was sent home after treatment. Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhker stated, "It was a hit-and-run case. With the help of CCTV footage, investigations are underway to locate the truck and its driver, who fled along with the vehicle after the accident."
