iPhone 17 Leaked images: features, specs ahead of launch
Apple is gearing up to unveil its much-awaited iPhone 17 series in September 2025, and new images circulating online may offer a glimpse of what's to come.
These purported leaked images show significant design and feature upgrades across all models, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a potential new variant, the iPhone 17 Air.
According to insiders and tech enthusiasts, all models in the iPhone 17 series are expected to come equipped with 120Hz ProMotion displays, marking a notable shift from the iPhone 16 lineup, where high refresh rate screens were reserved only for the Pro versions.
Additionally, LTPO OLED technology is likely to be standard across all variants, bringing Always-On Display functionality to even the base models.
Design changes: A return to aluminum?
A key design change seen in the leaked images shows Apple potentially abandoning the titanium frames seen in the iPhone 15 and 16 Pro models.
Instead, all iPhone 17 variants (except the Air version) could feature aluminum bodies, aligning with Apple's push towards more sustainable production practices.
The iPhone 17 Air, in contrast, may feature a hybrid titanium-aluminum body for a balance of durability and weight.
The rear camera bump also seems to be getting a major redesign.
The leaked images hint at a shift from the current squircle camera bump to a rectangular, aluminum-encased module. This change could indicate a more streamlined look and better protection for the cameras.
Camera upgrades: Bigger sensors and Advanced zoom
Photography enthusiasts will likely be pleased with the front and rear camera upgrades expected in the iPhone 17 series. The front-facing camera is reported to be upgraded from 12MP to 24MP, providing clearer selfies and better video calls.
The rear cameras are also receiving significant improvements.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max may come equipped with a 48MP tetraprism telephoto lens, which would offer advanced zoom capabilities.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air, despite featuring a single 48MP wide-angle lens, is expected to deliver impressive image quality, thanks to Apple's computational imaging advancements.
Performance boost: A19 chipset across the Lineup
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are rumored to feature Apple's new A19 processor, providing faster performance and improved power efficiency.
The Pro variants will likely be powered by the A19 Pro chip, which is expected to deliver even better speed and capabilities, particularly for demanding tasks such as gaming and video editing.
Additionally, reports suggest that RAM across the lineup could be increased, with three of the four models offering 12GB of RAM—up from 8GB in previous models.
This upgrade should result in smoother multitasking and faster app performance.
Pricing and Availability
While pricing for the iPhone 17 series is still speculative, it is expected to follow a similar structure to previous years, with the standard iPhone 17 priced lower than the Pro variants.
The new iPhone 17 Air, if confirmed, may be positioned as an affordable option for users who want flagship features without the premium price tag.

Apple to unveil dedicated gaming app at WWDC 2025
View of an Apple logo at an Apple store in Paris, France, April 23, 2025. PHOTO:REUTERS Apple is set to introduce a new dedicated gaming app at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, scheduled for June 9–13, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman report. This app aims to centralize gaming features across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, replacing the existing Game Center. Bloomberg reports the app will serve as a hub for launching games, tracking achievements, viewing leaderboards, and accessing editorial content. It will also provide quick links to the App Store's game section and highlight Apple Arcade, the company's \$6.99/month subscription service. NEW: Apple is planning a dedicated app for video games on its devices, seeking to sell gamers and developers on the idea that it's a leader in the market. — Mark Gurman (@markgurman) May 27, 2025 The new gaming app is expected to be pre-installed with iOS 19, slated for release in September 2025. Features will include a "Play Now" tab for curated game recommendations, integration with FaceTime and iMessage for social interactions, and support for App Clips to offer mini-game demos . Additionally, The Verge reports that Mac-specific feature will allow users to play games downloaded from outside the App Store. In a strategic move to bolster its gaming portfolio, Apple has acquired RAC7 Games, the studio behind the popular Apple Arcade title *Sneaky Sasquatch*. RAC7 will continue to operate independently within Apple. Despite these initiatives, Apple faces challenges in gaining significant traction in the gaming market, particularly on Mac devices, which are often perceived as less capable than Windows PCs for gaming. According to Tech in Asia, Apple's acquisition of RAC7 Games, reported by Tech in Asia, marks its first gaming studio purchase and signals a strategic shift from platform provider to content creator. Known for the hit Apple Arcade title Sneaky Sasquatch, RAC7 strengthens Apple's push for exclusive, curated gaming experiences—mirroring its content strategy seen in Apple TV+. The upcoming gaming app represents Apple's most substantial effort to date to establish a stronger presence in the gaming industry.

Apple's China listed supplier loses stocks after Trump unveils tariffs
Apple logo is seen on the Apple store at The Marche Saint Germain in Paris, France July 15, 2020. PHOTO:REUTERS Listen to article China-listed Apple supplier stocks lost ground on Monday after US President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on imported iPhones. Shares in Luxshare which assembles iPhones and makes AirPods, fell 2.2% while Chinese mobile screen maker Lens Tech lost 1.8%. Airpod maker Goertek declined 1.1%. 🇨🇳🇺🇸A-SHARES LUXSHARE PRECISION INDUSTRY, A KEY APPLE SUPPLIER, HIT LIMIT DOWN FOR THREE CONSECUTIVE TRADING DAYS, WITH A TURNOVER EXCEEDING 3 BILLION YUAN.#CHINA $AAPL @MKTNews24 — CN Wire (@Sino_Market) April 8, 2025 Trump threatened on Friday to ratchet up his trade war again, warning Apple he may slap a 25% levy on any iPhones sold, but not made, in the US as part of his administration's goal of re-shoring jobs. His threat, along with a second that pushed for a 50% tariff on starting June 1, has raised fears that the trade war that the US is waging could intensify again after weeks of de-escalation. The White House paused most of the punishing tariffs Trump announced in early April against nearly every country in the world after investors furiously sold off US assets, including government bonds and the US dollar. Trump left in place a 10% baseline tax on most imports, and later reduced his massive 145% tax on Chinese goods to 30%. Apple is speeding up plans to make most iPhones sold in the United States at factories in India by the end of 2026 to tariffs in China. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told CBS last month that the work of "millions and millions of human beings screwing in little, little screws to make iPhones" would come to the United States and be automated, creating jobs for skilled trade workers such as mechanics and electricians. But he later told CNBC that Cook told him that doing so requires technology not yet available. According to Tech in Asia, despite years of efforts to reduce China exposure, Apple remains vulnerable to tariffs with 85% of iPhones still manufactured in China. The company has made significant progress in India, shifting 50% of US-sold iPhones to Indian production and supporting Foxconn's plans for a new US$1.5 billion factory there. These diversification efforts, however, aren't enough to fully insulate Apple from tariff threats, as recent statements specifically demand US manufacturing rather than just non-Chinese production.
