AOC's Bronx office terrorized by her own supporters in twist for outspoken progressive
A disturbing video made its rounds on X Monday morning of the congresswoman's Bronx campaign headquarters being vandalized in red paint with a note attached to the front gate reading 'AOC Funds Genocide in Gaza.'
The glass directly covering photograph of the congresswoman's face was entirely obscured by red paint as well.
The viral video footage of the incident also shows the NYPD's evidence collection team arriving to remove the sign and investigate the scene.
The unhinged action came days after AOC voted against an amendment proposed by MAGA Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to cut funding to Israel 's 'golden dome' air defense systems by $500 million.
The amendment to the annual military spending package - known as the National Defense Appropriations Act, or NDAA - was backed by only six members of the House of Representatives.
Only GOP firebrand Thomas Massie and AOC's leftist 'Squad' sisters of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib supported MTG's flamboyant amendment.
A group called the Boogie Down Liberation Front took responsibility for the attack on AOC's office.
In a statement, the group noted that 'the Bronx is sick and tired of people like AOC and Ritchie Torres using us as a stepping stone for their own political careers.'
'The Bronx stands with the people of Palestine and we denounce the hypocrisy of AOC who voted to fund Israel's ongoing genocide and starvation campaign in Gaza. F**K AOC!,' the group added.
Ocasio-Cortez issued a statement Saturday which explained her vote against the amendment, noting that it 'does nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza.'
'I have long stated that I do not believe that adding to the death count of innocent victims to this war is constructive to its end,' Ocasio-Cortez added.
'I remain focused on cutting the flow of US munitions that are being used to perpetuate the genocide,' the New York Democrat concluded.
Marjorie Taylor Greene's amendment does nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza. Of course I voted against it.
What it does do is cut off defensive Iron Dome capacities while allowing the actual bombs killing Palestinians to…
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 19, 2025
The irony of AOC, a vocal progressive who has also advocated for defunding the police, being treated like this by activists of her own political realm was not lost on social media users.
X user @nikhil0582 wrote, 'Yesss..finally . I have been waiting when the crazy lefties come after her.'
Another user who posts under the handle of @NaMesoAtta noted 'These freaks are absolutely allergic to anything resembling actual power. They'd much rather get likes on Instagram doing dumb stuff like this than ask why their own movement has zero political power whatsoever and why that might be.'
X user @OriginalBad described the attackers as 'nutjobs who want to do nothing but lose elections.'
In 2020, AOC's congressional office reposted a Marie Claire magazine article about the representative's views on defunding the police.
That article noted that 'Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is among the proponents of the call to defund the police' and in her view a community that spends less money on policing looks 'like a suburb.'
'Affluent white communities already live in a world where the choose to fund youth, health, housing etc more than they fund police,' Ocasio-Cortex noted at the time.
'These communities have lower crime rates not because they have more police, but bc they have more resources to support healthy society in a way that reduces crime,' the Bronx Congresswoman added.

Melania Trump threatens to sue Hunter Biden for $1bn over Epstein comments
Melania Trump has threatened to sue Hunter Biden for $1 billion unless he retracts claims about the First Lady's alleged connections to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a report. Lawyers for Mrs Trump sent Mr Biden a letter accusing the former president's son of making 'false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements' about her, Fox News reported. The letter is said to have demanded Mr Biden immediately remove the comments and issue an apology or face legal action. The letter, sent on August 6 by the First Lady's attorney, Alejandro Brito, to Mr Biden's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, referred to comments the former president's son made in an interview. Speaking to Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, Mr Biden claimed that the paedophile financier introduced Mrs Trump to her future husband. The former president's son, who has done a string of recent interviews speaking about his father's legacy and his own struggles with drug addiction, said it was 'beyond a doubt' that Mr Trump and Epstein were 'very close friends'. 'They spent an enormous time together. According to [Trump's] biographer, Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania,' Mr Biden said. 'That's first lady and the president met. Yeah, according to Michael Wolff.' Mr Wolff, an author who was given extraordinary access to the White House during Mr Trump's first term, has written four books about the president. He made the claims about the First Lady's links to the disgraced financier in an episode of The Daily Beast podcast that aired on July 26. The news outlet also published an article on Mr Wolff's claim, but retracted it and issued an apology after Melania Trump's attorney contacted the publication. 'The Beast received a letter from First Lady Melania Trump's attorney challenging the headline and framing of the article. After reviewing the matter, the Beast has taken down the article and apologises for any confusion or misunderstanding,' the publication wrote. Mrs Trump's letter accused Mr Biden of further disseminating the claims made by Mr Wolff and causing the First Lady to suffer 'overwhelming financial and reputational harm' as a result. 'These false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory statements are extremely salacious and have been widely disseminated throughout various digital mediums,' the letter read. It also claimed the timing of Mr Biden's comments was malicious. It comes as the Trump administration has come under intense scrutiny for its failure to release the Epstein Files. The president is facing intense scrutiny about his personal connections to Epstein after the FBI and Department of Justice concluded last month that the wealthy sex offender died by suicide and did not possess a 'client list'. The ruling contradicted a conspiracy theory widely maintained amongst Maga supporters that Epstein was murdered by powerful associates to cover up for their crimes. 'The timing of this video is evident and underscores the actual malice behind the decision to publish it given the plain falsity of the statements,' the letter read. It demanded that Mr Biden 'immediately issue a full and fair retraction of the video' and 'immediately issue an apology for the false, defamatory, disparaging, misleading, and inflammatory statements about Mrs Trump'. Mr Biden was given until 5pm on August 7 to comply with the letter. A source close to the matter told Fox News that he failed to meet the deadline.

Failed Republican candidate jailed for 80 years over gun attacks on Democrats' homes
Aug 13 (Reuters) - A failed Republican candidate in New Mexico was jailed for 80 years on Wednesday for contracting gunmen to carry out drive-by shootings on the homes of Democratic officials after his 2022 election defeat. Solomon Pena orchestrated the attacks in Albuquerque, New Mexico's largest city, weeks after losing his bid for a state house seat. He was driven by conspiracy theories he had been a victim of election fraud, federal prosecutors said. Pena was convicted of 13 felony charges earlier this year for attacks on four officials in December 2022 and January 2023, including the current state house speaker. No one was hurt in the shootings, which followed other politically motivated violence such as the hammer attack on the husband of U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi. "Violence and intimidation have no place in our elections," U.S. Attorney for New Mexico Ryan Ellison said in a statement following the sentencing. Pena's lawyer Nicholas Hart said his client would appeal the conviction. Two men who said they were hired by Pena for the attacks pleaded guilty in 2024. After he failed to be elected, Pena pressured members of the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners not to certify the results. When they refused, Pena recruited Jose Trujillo and Demetrio Trujillo to carry out the shootings, prosecutors said. False and unfounded claims of election fraud exploded after President Donald Trump refused to accept defeat in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

DC troop numbers expected to increase as Trump pushes to extend federal takeover despite dropping crime figures
The number of federal troops descending on Washington, D.C., is set to increase as President Donald Trump pushes to extend the city's federal takeover despite crime declining in recent years. Trump announced Monday he was placing the D.C. police department under direct federal control and deploying the National Guard to 'rescue our nation's capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse.' National Guard troops started hitting D.C. streets Tuesday evening, and over the coming days, there will be between 100 and 200 soldiers out patrolling at any given time, The New York Times reported, citing Army spokesman Colonel Dave Butler. In total, about 800 troops are expected to be deployed. There have been at least 66 arrests made since the federal takeover began, according to the Trump administration. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said 23 people were arrested Monday evening, and FBI Director Kash Patel said 43 more arrests were made as of early Wednesday morning. The D.C. takeover is supposed to last for 30 days, but in a speech at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, Trump said he wants to extend federal control of local police. 'If it's a national emergency we can do it without Congress, but we expect to be before Congress very quickly,' Trump said. Trump claimed on Monday D.C. 'has been taken over by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs, and homeless people.' But the violent crime rate went down by 35 percent in 2024 after peaking in 2023, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Attorney's Office for D.C. in January. It said violent crime was at a 30-year low, with homicides down by 32 percent, robberies down 39 percent, armed carjackings down by 53 percent, and assaults with a dangerous weapon down 27 percent. D.C. police say violent crime for 2025 is down 26 percent as of Wednesday. Mayor Muriel Bowser has criticized the federal takeover, calling the move 'unsettling and unprecedented,' and even 'authoritarian.' Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he would not grant an extension to the D.C. takeover if Trump asked the Republican-controlled Congress for one. 'No f***ing way,' he told journalist Aaron Parnas in a Wednesday interview. 'We'll fight him tooth and nail.' Trump has also floated the idea of expanding his efforts to other major cities. 'We are going to do something and it's going to serve as a beacon for New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and other places all over the country,' he said in his Kennedy Center speech.
