Frank's early years were spent in Warren, Ohio where he was surrounded by a large and loving family. The son of the late Howard Oscar Starnes and Rozoltha Starnes, he grew up alongside his siblings, the late Virginia McNally, Harold Starnes, Howard Starnes, Clint Starnes, Sandra Starnes, and is survived by his brothers, George and Paul Starnes.
After completing his education at Columbia University, Frank dedicated two years to serving his country in the US Army from 1955 to 1957.
Following his military service, Frank embarked on a distinguished career with the US Postal Service, where he worked for 33 years. His roles as Branch Manager at the Warren and Austintown offices, Training Specialist in Cleveland, Ohio, and St. Louis, Missouri, showcased his leadership skills and commitment to excellence. Frank was known for his friendly demeanor and the mentorship he provided to countless colleagues over the years.
Frank's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid tennis player, often found on the courts of Packard Park and Valhalla Sports Center, and he shared his love for the game with friends and family alike. His sense of humor shone through during lively card games, which were a staple at family gatherings. Frank's adventurous spirit led him on many road trips to visit his son in California, Utah, and Nevada. Each August, he made it a tradition to drive to New York City to immerse himself in the excitement of the US Open Tennis Championships.
Above all, Frank was a man who embraced the journey of life with a smile and an open heart. As Mark Twain once said, 'The secret of getting ahead is getting started.' Frank took this advice to heart, continually seeking new experiences and cherishing each moment.
We bid farewell to Franklin Dale Starnes, a beloved father, brother, and friend, secure in the knowledge that his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Giorgio's Ristorante in Niles, Ohio. Please RSVP via email to starnf@yahoo.com.

Broncos roster: OL Frank Crum (No. 73) competing for backup swing tackle role
Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year offensive lineman Frank Crum, No. 73. Before the : Crum (6-7, 315 pounds) played his collegiate football at the University of Wyoming in Laramie from 2019-23, with a total of 49 starts in 56 games played. In 2022, Crum started 12 games and was named All-Mountain West Conference by Pro Football Focus. In 2023, Crum started all 13 games at tackle in 2023, earning first-team All-Mountain West honors. Going into the 2024 NFL draft Crum was graded as a sixth-round talent. Broncos tenure: Surprisingly, Crum was not selected in the 2024 NFL draft. After the draft process, Crum was rated the No. 1 undrafted offensive tackle, and he was pursued by various teams. Ultimately, Crum was signed by his "hometown team," the Denver Broncos. Crum didn't especially impress in the preseason, but he did enough to show coaches that he deserved to be on the roster, one of three undrafted free agents the Broncos carried on their 53-man roster in 2024. Crum was active for six games, totaling 33 total snaps as a rookie, most of them (24) on special teams. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Probable. After dressing for six games in 2024, Crum could see himself back on the roster. Head coach Sean Payton recently spoke highly and specifically about Crum and his athleticism, and quarterback Bo Nix was spotted with Crum at a Colorado Avalanche playoff game this offseason. Maybe this type of chemistry with Nix and Payton will help Crum win a backup swing-tackle battle over Matt Peart and Alex Palczewski. Thomas Frank provides Dominic Solanke injury update after Tottenham striker misses win over Arsenal
Thomas Frank confirmed Dominic Solanke is 'close' to returning from an ankle injury. The Tottenham striker was again left out of the squad as his team-mates beat Arsenal 1-0 in Hong Kong, having not trained in an open session at the stadium earlier this week. Spurs face Newcastle on Sunday in Seoul before they take on Bayern Munich in Germany on August 7. Six days later Frank's side go up up against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup. Speaking after the victory over north London rivals Arsenal, Frank provided a positive injury update on Solanke. 'He's close, if not for Sunday then he should be fit to play against Bayern,' the Spurs boss said. That will be welcome news for Frank, who has been without Solanke since the opening pre-season match against Reading with what was described as a 'minor' injury. Spurs now fly to South Korea where they can expect huge support as a result of Heung-min Son's presence. Frank paid tribute to the number of Spurs fans who have turned up on the tour so far, admitting it had made clear to him the size of the job he has taken on. 'I think I had a good idea but you don't really know until you step into it and I think seeing how important it is for the fans,' he said. 'The fans have been waiting every day for us, every morning and evening, and the fans that came to open training and were at the game. 'You understand more and more, first and foremost how big a club Spurs is and the importance of the club.'
