When birthday boy Vicky Kaushal was scolded by wife Katrina Kaif for his clothes: ‘Kya joker banke jaarahe ho?'
In a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia in 2024, Vicky recalled that Katrina once stopped him from going out because of his outfit. 'On the surface level, she has added what kind of clothes should I wear. She used to be like, 'Kya joker banke jaraha hai yeh?' She literally held my hand and pulled me back in the house saying, 'You are not stepping out of the house wearing this'. I asked her what's wrong with this and she said, 'Sab kuch' (everything). She asked me to wear simple clothes. I was wearing simple clothes only!' he shared.
The actor added, 'Jokes apart, I learnt discipline from her. Whenever she has a song or action sequence coming, she becomes a beast. I haven't seen many people this disciplined. She goes mental five months before her shot. Her diet and everything else changes.'

Katrina Kaif, who is popular for her item songs, including Kamli, Sheila Ki Jawani and others, doesn't leave any stone unturned while prepping. 'Then, I realised that it's not something casual for her, she has achieved that reputation when it comes to certain things because she puts in that work,' Vicky said.
He continued, 'Till date, that's what stimulates her. She is super unemotional about it, the attitude of you gotta do what you gotta do. I have really liked that, it helps me sometimes as a reminder. You need to work hard if you really want the reward for that.'
Meanwhile, on the work front, Vicky Kaushal was last seen in the period war drama Chhaava. The actor is currently busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali 's Love & War, alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.

Central schemes empower Karnataka's artistes
Bengaluru: The Union Ministry of Culture has extended financial and promotional support to hundreds of artistes across the state in 2024-25. According to details shared in the Lok Sabha, 397 veteran artistes have been provided with a monthly pension under a dedicated scheme aimed at supporting senior artistes. This initiative targets individuals aged 60 and above with an annual income below Rs. 72,000, offering them Rs. 6,000 monthly to honour their lifelong contributions to the arts. In cases of an artiste's passing, the financial aid seamlessly transfers to their spouse, ensuring continued support. The information came to light following a query raised by Udupi-Chikkamagalur MP Kota Srinivas Poojari during a parliamentary session on July 28. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat outlined the various measures taken to uplift artistes in Karnataka, emphasising the government's commitment to preserving cultural heritage. Beyond veteran artistes, 716 folk artists from Karnataka have benefited from initiatives spearheaded by the South Zone Cultural Centre (SZCC) in Thanjavur, which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture. These artistes received support through honorariums, travel allowances, accommodation, and local transportation for their participation in cultural events organised by the SZCC. Additionally, programs like the Guru-Shishya Parampara (repertory grant) have been instrumental, providing group leaders with Rs. 15,000 per month and group members with Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000 monthly. The Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme has also played a key role, offering up to Rs. 20 lakh to facilitate cultural festivals and programs in the state. Karnataka's artistes have also gained recognition on national and international stages. Many have been empanelled for prestigious events such as the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsavs and global platforms like the 'Festival of India' under the Global Engagement Scheme. These opportunities not only provide financial backing but also amplify the visibility of Karnataka's rich artistic traditions. MP Poojari's inquiry specifically sought details on financial schemes and efforts to promote and preserve Karnataka's diverse folk art forms. This robust support system reflects a broader commitment to safeguarding India's artistic legacy while empowering its creators, positioning Karnataka as a vibrant hub of cultural expression in 2024-25.

Vijay Devarakonda's ‘Kingdom' fails to beat Liger's opening day, but outperforms ‘Khushi and The Family Star'
Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom had a decent opening, earning approximately Rs 15.50 crore. However, it did not beat Liger's first-day collection. Kingdom surpassed the opening day numbers of Khushi, Dear Comrade and Family Star. The film's reception outside Telugu states is moderate. Initial reviews are mixed. Trade analysts are observing the film's performance over the weekend. Kingdom is Deverakonda's second-biggest opener. Vijay Deverakonda 's much-anticipated film Kingdom opened to strong but slightly underwhelming box office numbers, collecting an estimated Rs 15.50 crore on Day 1 across all languages. Despite the buzz and strong promotional campaign, Kingdom couldn't surpass the Day 1 collections of Deverakonda's biggest pan-India launch, Liger with Ananya Panday , which had opened to Rs 15.95 crore. Released across multiple languages, Liger marked Vijay 's Bollywood debut and generated a massive opening with Rs 13.99 crore from Telugu markets alone, followed by Rs 1.25 crore in Hindi, and smaller contributions from Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions. Although Liger eventually fizzled out due to poor word-of-mouth and critical reception, its Day 1 number remains the highest opener in Deverakonda's career to film was able to earn only Rs 41.17 crore by the end of it's theatrical run. Kingdom, while falling short of that benchmark by a narrow margin of Rs 45 lakh , still managed to perform better than several of the actor's recent outings. It eclipsed the first-day numbers of Khushi with Samantha Rut Prabhu (Rs 15.25 crore), Dear Comrade with Rashmika Mandanna (Rs 11.90 crore), and The Family Star with Mrunal Thakur (Rs 5.75 crore) with a clear margin. The performance also marks a significant jump from his breakthrough film Arjun Reddy , which had opened at just Rs 85 lakh back in 2017. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like US$31 trillion in wealth extracted from Indonesia during Dutch colonial rule: President Prabowo CNA Read More Undo The opening signals a mixed response from the audience—while Vijay continues to retain strong pull in Telugu states, Kingdom's reception outside those territories appears moderate. Initial reviews have been a blend of praise for Deverakonda's performance and criticism for the film's pacing and screenplay, which may impact its weekend momentum. Trade is watching closely to see how the film trends over its first weekend. With a decent start and no major competition in the Telugu market, Kingdom has the opportunity to gain ground through word-of-mouth and fan support. However, missing the Liger milestone indicates that Vijay's pan-India appeal may still be a work in progress. For now, Kingdom stands as Vijay Deverakonda's second-biggest opening and a partial recovery from his recent setbacks, but it also raises important questions about the long-term box office viability of star-driven mass entertainers in a post-pandemic era.
