Tennis fans will get an early taste of the US Open with a new format for mixed doubles – giving them a sneak preview at the new dining options that will also debut next month.
The upscale and usually pricey scene will add James Beard-nominated rising star Robbie Felice's pastaRAMEN, a new spin from Simon Kim's COQODAQ and the long-awaited return of famed chef José Andrés, Side Dish has learned.
They will join regular favorites like Alex Guarnaschelli, Kwame Onwuachi, Ed Brown, David Burke, Josh Capon, Pat LaFrieda and Masaharu Morimoto, according to United States Tennis Association officials.

The mixed doubles tournament will begin during Fan Week on Aug. 19 and 20, and will feature the return of Venus Williams — on the 25th anniversary of her first US Open. She will be seeking the $1 million grand prize with partner Reilly Opelka.
The food front is just as well matched.
Andres, returning to the US Open for the first time since 2019, will showcase Oyamel. The restaurant from the José Andrés Group will team up with the Dobel Tequila Club to create a restaurant/lounge with diverse Mexican food and cocktails. Dishes will include Oyamel's taco cohinita, made with Yucatan-style pit barbecued pork, achiote, Mexican sour orange and pickled red onion.
Felice, known for his secret $350 per person, 14-course omakase pop-ups in New York, Miami and Los Angeles, celebrating Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine, runs four different restaurants in New Jersey.
His mystery pastaReman menu for the US Open will be available through hidden drops on social media, Felice exclusively told Side Dish.
'We have three appetizers, izakaya-style finger food that people know and love, along with a ramen,' he teased, adding that there will also be two dessert options including his famed zeppoli bao buns and a new strawberry yuzu Japanese-Italian ice that will be 'cool, new and fun.'
'Who wouldn't want something cold and iced when you are out in the heat,' he said.

The revamped 'CQDQ' will be located in the Food Village, where it will serve a new chicken sandwich, while COQODAQ will still be offering favorites like its 'golden nuggets' paired with caviar at its original spot in the club level of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
'It's a massive undertaking, and we can't wait for everyone to experience it,' Kim said.

Meanwhile, other stars in the 16-team mixed doubles field include Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alacaraz, Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek, Emma Navarro and Anna Ansimova.
The move to fan week 'enables top singles stars to compete together and to give this Grand Slam championship center stage,' said USTA's Brendan McIntyre.

Clip of Sydney Sweeney's expert shooting range run goes viral after Republican registration revealed, American Eagle ad fiasco

A video of 'Americana' star Sydney Sweeney perfecting her shooting skills at a gun range resurfaced online and quickly went viral after she was revealed to be a registered Republican amid outrage over her American Eagle ad. Sweeney, 27, has been in the crosshairs of online social justice warriors who said her ill-fated July advertisement had eugenics undertones, emphasizing her 'good jeans' — all while largely focusing on her bust. Soon after, it was revealed that the Emmy-nominated actress has been registered with the Republican Party of Florida in Monroe County since June 2024, according to public voter records viewed by The Post. American Eagle The bombshell, who shot to fame after starring in HBO's 'Euphoria,' hasn't publicly responded to the advertisement's controversy, but made her first appearance at a screening of her upcoming film 'Americana' on Monday. TMZ reported. 5 Sweeney made her first public appearance since the ad was released at a viewing for her upcoming movie 'Americana.' ''Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her Jeans. Her Story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way,' the statement said. Sweeney has received a flood of support from online influencers and politicians alike, including the president himself. Instagram / sydney_sweeney 'If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic,' President Trump lauded immediately after being told about Sweeney's political affiliation. Trump later elaborated on TruthSocial while adding a jab at multi-Grammy award winner Taylor Swift, who he has ceaselessly attacked since she endorsed Kamala Harris for the 2024 Presidential Election. 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'HOTTEST' ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get 'em Sydney!' Trump wrote. 5 Sweeney has not addressed the controversies surrounding the advertisements or her political affiliation. Getty Images 'Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can't stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!' Swift made an appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl to cheer on her longtime boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce before the team was trounced by the Philadelphia Eagles. She was reportedly booed by Eagles fans when shown on the jumbotron. The Post reached out to Taran Tactical Innovations, the gun store that provided the firearms used in Sweeney's gun range practice, for comment, but didn't immediately hear back.

Djokovic withdraws from ATP Cincinnati Masters

Novak Djokovic withdrew on Monday from this week's start of the ATP Cincinnati Masters, with the pullout coming a year to the day from his Paris Olympic gold medal victory. Tournament officials confirmed the news to The Athletic, meaning the 38-year-old Serb will have played no matches between his Wimbledon semi-final loss to Jannik Sinner and the US Open start in three weeks. World number one Sinner, who like Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz skipped the current ATP Toronto Masters in order to rest and recover from Wimbledon, has been in Cincinnati since the weekend. Sinner and his team posted a golf course selfie to social media on Monday, one day after an opening practice session at the pre-US Open event. Djokovic, winner of 24 Grand Slam singles titles, first played Cincinnati in 2005 and won the last of his three titles there in 2023 after losing five previous finals. str/js

Barbara Eden leads tributes to Loni Anderson, ‘WKRP in Cincinnati' star

Tributes continued to pour in following the death of Loni Anderson, the Emmy-nominated actress best known for her role as Jennifer Marlowe on 'WKRP in Cincinnati.' Anderson died over the weekend at the age of 79, just days before what would have been her 80th birthday. Her death was confirmed Sunday, Aug. 3, by longtime publicist Cheryl J. Kagan, who said the actress died following 'a prolonged illness.' Barbara Eden, 93, led the remembrances with a personal message posted on Instagram. The 'I Dream of Jeannie' star and San Francisco Conservatory of Music alum described Anderson as a 'darling lady and a genuinely good person.' 'Like many, I am absolutely stunned and heartbroken,' Eden wrote in the caption of a photo featuring the two friends. 'She was a real talent, with razor smart wit and a glowing sense of humor… but, even more than that, she had an impeccable work ethic.' Eden added, 'Loni, you were one in a trillion, my friend, and even a trillion more.' Anderson starred on 'WKRP in Cincinnati' from 1978 to 1982, earning critical acclaim for her portrayal of a savvy, self-possessed radio receptionist who challenged the era's television stereotypes. The role earned her two Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nods, cementing her as one of the most recognizable faces on television. Former co-stars and colleagues added their own tributes. Tim Reid, who played DJ Venus Flytrap on 'WKRP,' called her 'one of the dearest friends I've had in my life's journey. Such a wonderful woman.' Actress Morgan Fairchild remembered her as 'the sweetest, most gracious lady.' Tori Spelling, who portrayed her daughter on the series 'So Notorious,' credited Anderson with leaving a 'special imprint on my heart, soul, and very being.' 'When they say 'don't meet your heroes,' they weren't talking about Loni Anderson,' Spelling added. 'She was everything and more to everyone.'
