We're officially ready for some fútbol.
Starting Saturday, June 14, the international 32-team FIFA Club World Cup lands at huge venues all over North America for 63 high-octane matches that run until July 13 when the Finals go down at East Rutherford, NJ's MetLife Stadium.
Prior to that championship showdown, eight big games are scheduled to take place at the Jets and Giants' home field.
The first five matches will be between a hodgepodge of clubs from all over the world. They are Brazil's SE Palmeiras, Portugal's FC Porto, Brazil's Fluminese FC, Germany's Borussia Dortmund, Egypt's Al-Ahly FC and South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai FC.
Their contests are part of the opening round where eight groups of four teams play their opponents once. Whoever finishes with the two best records advance to the round of 16. After that, every game will be a do or die elimination all the way to the Final.
'[FC Porto will] be heavy favorites in this group, but don't feel insurmountable in the way PSG and Atleti do,' MLS Soccer reports.
They also shared that 'Palmeiras have been the most successful team in Brazil – by a nose over Flamengo – over the past decade. They're integrating a ton of new faces (they sell more than Botafogo), including old friends Facundo Torres from Orlando and Micael from Houston.'
Given the hype surrounding the multinational competition, last-minute tickets are surprisingly cheap.
At the time of publication, our team found seats for first-round MetLife matches going for as low as $26 including fees on Vivid Seats.
Finals tickets start at $663 including fees.
Not bad for watching world class soccer live in the Meadowlands.

Why LeBron James wouldn't let family go to most NBA Finals games

LeBron James said he never allowed his family to attend his games while playing in 10 NBA Finals unless it was a closeout situation. During the latest installment of his 'Mind the Game' podcast, the Lakers star, who won four NBA titles in 22 seasons, explained that his wife, Savannah, and their three kids, Bronny, Bryce and Zhuri, stayed away from the arena because he didn't want to change his routine. 'For me personally, I never let my family come to a Finals game unless it was a closeout game,' James told co-host Steve Nash. 'If we were up 3-1, or if it was 3-3 or like Game 7 in the 2016 Finals, my family didn't come until Game 7. It was just, I didn't want to change anything. 'Obviously, if we had an opportunity to close out that final game… the family would be there. But other than that, I kept them home. Especially on the road, I didn't want my family on the road during the Finals, and I'm trying to focus on not only myself, but carrying my team, making sure my teammates are locked in. 'And then if something happened in the stands with my family, it could very easily knock me out of my lockdown zone. Now, I can't be as locked in as I want to because some idiot said something to my wife or my kids or my mom. Unless it was the closeout game, my family stayed home. And that's how I always kept it and it worked for me and a couple of my Finals wins.' 5 LeBron James said he never allowed his family to attend his games while playing in 10 NBA Finals, unless it was a closeout game during the latest installment of his 'Mind the Game' podcast. Juventus confirm Igor Tudor has signed a contract extension until June 2027, with an option for a further campaign. Juventus confirmed Tudor's contract extension with an official statement on Friday. 'Passion. Charisma. Juventus spirit. Words that perfectly capture what Igor Tudor has brought to Juventus since taking over the Men's First Team in late March – and what he will continue to represent in the years ahead,' Juventus said. Advertisement 'It's now official: Tudor has renewed his contract with Juventus. The Croatian coach will lead the Men's First Team until 30 June, 2027, with an option to extend by another year until 30 June, 2028. His next challenge begins this summer, as the team head to the United States for their first competitive fixture at the FIFA Club World Cup. His tenure began with a home win at the Allianz Stadium against Genoa and ended on a high note with a vital victory away at Venezia on the final matchday. 'A few months ago, Tudor reconnected with the club. Now, new chapters are waiting to be written together.

Haliburton compared to Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning

Haliburton compared to Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning originally appeared on Athlon Sports. From 1999 to 2018, with a few exceptions, the Indianapolis Colts were one of the most consistent teams in the NFL. Between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, the Colts had a steady hand at quarterback and made the playoffs 16 times under those gunslingers. Advertisement They made two Super Bowls, winning one, while the Indiana Pacers, for the most part, fell short to LeBron James or the Boston Celtics during the same span. However, as Anthony Richardson struggles to stay healthy, the Colts have taken a step back, and with Tyrese Haliburton leading the way, the Pacers have stepped up as the best team in the state. With Caitlin Clark leading the Indiana Fever, Indiana is once again basketball country. After the Pacers made their first Finals since 2000, Myles Turner took a moment to compare Haliburton to some all-time great Indiana athletes. "It's all happened so fast, but he's done a great job of composing himself and showing up when it matters the most," Turner said on Saturday. "So yeah, when you want to say he's the Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck of the city, it makes sense. He's the head of the snake." Advertisement Haliburton has received his fair share of criticism, especially after getting off to a slow start this season, although he has certainly bounced back in the playoffs, hitting five go-ahead or game-winning shots in the postseason. 'I'm just proud of the way he's handled everything," Turner continued. The Pacers stole Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder before losing Game 2, but will head back home to Indiana with the series evened up. Game 3 will tip off on Wednesday.
