Jack White blasts Donald Trump's 'vulgar' Oval Office redecoration
Former White Stripes frontman Jack White has taken aim at Donald Trump's White House redecoration efforts, in the wake of Trump's hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders at the White House yesterday to advance peace talks to end the war in Ukraine. The Grammy-winning artist, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump's, went online to share a photo of the two politicians in the Oval Office and described the historic room as a 'professional wrestler's dressing room.' 'Look at how disgusting Trump has transformed the historic White House,' he began. 'It's now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler's dressing room. Can't wait for the UFC match on the front lawn too, he's almost fully achieved the movie 'Idiocracy.' That 'UFC match on the front lawn' comment refers to the fact that Trump recently announced his plans for a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship - an American mixed martial arts promotion) fight at the White House, to better celebrate 250 years of American independence on 4 July 2026. Trump, who has previously attended several UFC fights, told a crowd of Iowans in July: 'We're gonna have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,' adding that it would be 'a championship fight, full fight, like 20-25,000 people.' Une publication partagée par Jack White (@officialjackwhite) In his most recent post, White added: 'Look at his disgusting taste, would you even buy a used car from this conman, let alone give him the nuclear codes? A gold plated Trump bible would look perfect up on that mantle with a pair of Trump shoes on either side wouldn't it? What an embarrassment to American history.' Trump's alterations to the White House are a matter of public record, and have included a gold 'Trump' crest over the historic building's door and replacing the lawn in the Rose Garden with paving and several gold monuments – including gold cherubs from his Mar-a-Lago estate. CNN noted earlier this year: 'There is gold everywhere: new gold vermeil figurines on the mantle and medallions on the fireplace, gold eagles on the side tables, gilded Rococo mirrors on the doors, and, nestled in the pediments above the doorways, diminutive gold cherubs shipped in from Mar-a-Lago.' Elsewhere, White did have some kind words for Zelenskyy, concluding his post with: 'Also pictured in this photograph, a REAL leader of a nation in a black suit.' Last year, White added his name to an ever-growing list of artists suing Donald Trump over the illegal use of their songs in campaign videos. The singer filed a copyright infringement lawsuit, with the band The White Stripes opposing Trump's use of their song 'Seven Nation Army' in a political video. In a post shared to Instagram last September, White captioned a copy of the legal complaint with: 'This machine sues fascists.' A post shared by Jack White (@officialjackwhite) Last month, White posted the following on Instagram: 'The people who have supported this professional liar, egomaniac conman all these years will all pretend they never did once he's gone.'

Two years after her death, a Sinéad O'Connor biopic is in the works
Two years after her death, a biopic on legendary Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor is reportedly in development. According to Variety, the film will be directed by Josephine Decker, known for the 2020 feature Shirley, based on the life of novelist Shirley Jackson. Decker will work from a script by Irish writer Stacey Gregg. Helming the project is Irish production company ie: entertainment, which already executive produced the 2022 Sinéad O'Connor documentary Nothing Compares. The upcoming film has reportedly been in the works since the release of the critically acclaimed documentary, on which the singer had collaborated. Other production companies involved in the biopic include Oscar-winning See-Saw Films, known for The King's Speech, Shame, Lion and The Power of the Dog, as well as Nine Daughters, which produced Lady Macbeth and God's Creatures. Both companies previously collaborated on Francis Lee's 2020 period drama Ammonite. The film is expected to focus on O'Connor's early life and career. It will tell the story "of how one young woman from Dublin took on the world, examining how her global fame may have been built on her talent, but her name became synonymous with her efforts to draw attention to the crimes committed by the Catholic Church and the Irish state." Sinéad O'Connor died in 2023 at age 56. The biggest commercial success of her four-decade career remained her 1990 album 'I' Do Not Want What I Haven't Got', which featured her hit cover of Prince's song 'Nothing Compares 2 U'. O'Connor, who self-identified as a 'protest singer', intertwined her music and activism throughout her life. She most vehemently advocated against child abuse in the Catholic Church. During a 1992 performance on US comedy show Saturday Night Live, she tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II, a gesture that drew wide condemnation. In 2018, she converted to Islam and took the name Shuhada' Sadaqat, while continuing to perform under her birth name. The Irish musician released her memoir 'Rememberings" in 2021, just two years before her death. Her legacy was a subject of controversy during the 2024 US presidential campaign, when her estate asked Donald Trump to stop using 'Nothing Compares to U' at his political rallies. "Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O'Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency towards her fellow human beings,' O'Connor's estate and her label Chrysalis Records said in a statement at the time. "As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump, and his associates desist from using her music immediately."

Beyoncé for Levi Strauss - Levi Strauss Set to an exclusive edit of the "Levi's Jeans" soundtrack from the Grammy Award-winning album, Cowboy Carter, the 90-second film includes new scenes and extended cuts from the previously released Launderette, Pool Hall and Refrigerator films - all inspired by classic Levi's® advertisements from the '80s and '90s. Once again, the Levi's® brand partnered with Grammy Award-winning director Melina Matsoukas to bring this vision to life. Recontextualising the previous chapters and unveiling new details, The Denim Cowboy reveals that Beyoncé's winning prize from the pool game is none other than the local shark's 501® jeans, played by award-winning actor, Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Deadwood). Beyoncé stuns in a crystalised '90s Shrunken Trucker paired with the 501® Curve jeans, a new and ground breaking 501® silhouette designed to celebrate and fit curves without compromising the authentic straight-leg silhouette that makes the 501® so timeless and enduring.
