Amar Baharin, Qobin Near End Of Epic Cycling Journey To Madinah
KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Bernama) -- After weeks on the road, actor Amar Baharin and national Grand Slam explorer Datuk Muhammad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, better known as Qobin, are just days away from completing their incredible 'Journey to Tanah Haram' cycling mission.
Currently in Qassim, Saudi Arabia, the duo have been riding from Riyadh to Al-Ghat and are now preparing for the final push — a gruelling 120 to 150 kilometres from Al Henakiyah to Madinah.
They expect to arrive in the holy city within the next three to four days.
Despite their determination, the journey has not been without challenges.
Muhammad Muqharabbin in a statement said he suffered muscle cramps due to the scorching heat and was forced to rest for two nights in Qassim.
'We ask for everyone's prayers as we approach our final days before reaching Madinah,' he said.
Amar, meanwhile, shared some of the unexpected blessings they've experienced along the way — including flat tyres that happened to occur right in front of workshops or shaded spots, and generous locals who offered them food and drinks.
'We were often given free accommodation by Malaysians in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. We never expected this kind of help. We tried not to burden anyone, but Allah arranged everything for us,' he said.
Thanks to the kindness they received, their total expenses for the mission did not even reach RM12,000.

P. Ramlee: A cultural icon whose legacy continues to unite Malaysians
GEORGE TOWN: The late legendary artiste Tan Sri P. Ramlee was more than just a cultural icon; he was also a symbol of national unity whose legacy continues to unify Malaysians regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity, said Deputy National Unity Minister K. Saraswathy. She said P. Ramlee's lifetime creative works transcended racial and religious boundaries, depicting the lives of ordinary people with profound humanity, including love, mutual respect, looking out for one another and a strong sense of family. "I believe messages of unity reflected in the works of P. Ramlee, whose real name was Teuku Zakaria Teuku Nyak Puteh, will continue to be remembered, remain relevant and serve as a beacon for the harmony of Malaysia Madani. "This aligns with the government's aspiration to foster a united Madani society that is respectful of one another, regardless of race, culture, or religion. P. Ramlee has left us with a timeless legacy through his creative works and brilliant ideas," she said when launching the closing ceremony of Minggu Kenangan P. Ramlee: 'Satu Dalam Sejuta' and the music forum "Kisah Di Sebalik Lagu" here today. She said messages of harmony, unity, cooperation, and mutual respect were brilliantly captured and highlighted in the artiste's works. Also present were National Archives director-general Datuk Jaafar Sidek Abdul Rahman, Penang P. Ramlee Fan Club president Tan Sri Yussof Latiff and renowned lyricist Datuk Habsah Hassan. Various programmes were lined up throughout the event, including a lecture by preacher Datuk Mohamad Kazim Elias, better known as Ustaz Kazim, titled "Sedangkan Lidah Lagi Tergigit" on May 24 and the "Satu Dalam Sejuta" run on May 25 at Padang Kota Lama. Saraswathy said the programme aligns well with the aspirations of Ikhtiar 4 under the National Unity Ministry's 2025 Strategic Plan, particularly within the Socio-Cultural Community Cluster: Semarak Perpaduan, which aims to deepen appreciation for national heritage, instil pride in cultural identity and strengthen bonds among Malaysia's multiracial communities through the arts and shared history. "Besides that, collaboration and partnership in organising such programmes are crucial in efforts to preserve the nation's cultural heritage. "I would like to take this opportunity to encourage government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and corporate bodies to collaborate in forming similar partnerships for the benefit of society and the nation. "May the National Archives' aspiration to disseminate information and strengthen public understanding of unity through the messages conveyed in P. Ramlee's works be successfully realised. "It is hoped that through these efforts, the spirit of cohesion and harmony among the Malaysia Madani society can be preserved," she said. – Bernama

TV3 crowned champion of Hawana-DBP Pantun Festival 2025
KUALA LUMPUR: TV3's Islamic Content Department emerged as the champion of the inaugural Hawana–Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Pantun Festival 2025, defeating the Astro Radio News team in the final of the Malay quatrain competition, held in conjunction with this year's National Journalists' Day (Hawana) celebration. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presented prizes to the champion and runner-up at the Hawana 2025 celebration held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) today. TV3's Islamic Content Department took home RM3,000, a trophy and a certificate of participation, while Astro Radio News received RM2,000, a trophy and a certificate. Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the competition, which saw the participation of eight teams. A total of 32 participants took part in the inaugural event at Wisma Bernama, held as a curtain-raiser to the Hawana 2025 celebration that began on May 31. TV3's Islamic Content Department team head Ahmad Fedtri Yahya described the win as highly meaningful, following two weeks of anxious waiting for the results. "I couldn't sleep well, especially last night. It has been a while since I last competed, so I was still really nervous. "Honestly, I was a bit scared because people had such high hopes when they heard I would be competing. "But Alhamdulillah, we managed to become champions. I'm really grateful for that," said the television personality and pantun activist. He expressed hope that such competitions would continue to be held in future. "I really hope this tradition continues. Even when I'm old, I'll still come, if not as a judge, then as someone in the crowd. Pantun is close to my heart and I fully support the continuation of this competition," he said. Hawana 2025 is organised by the Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) as the implementing agency, with support from various media organisations and strategic industry partners. Carrying the theme "Journalism in the New Era: Embracing AI, Safeguarding Ethics", the event drew the participation of approximately 1,000 local and international media practitioners. In addition to the pantun festival, various events were organised in conjunction with the Hawana 2025 celebration – the fifth edition since its inception in 2018. The Hawana 2025 Carnival, being held at Sunway Putra Mall from June 13 to 15, features 20 exhibition booths involving major media agencies, government departments and private companies, such as Bernama, RTM, Astro, Media Prima Behd, the Department of Information (JaPen), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The Hawana 2025 Forum, jointly organised by Bernama and the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI), was held this morning at the Tun Hussein Onn Hall, WTCKL, discussing the topic "Malaysian Media Council: Regulator or Media Protector?", followed by a technology-sharing session titled "AI & Media: Tool, Threat or Opportunity?". Hawana 2025 also received sponsorship and contributions from nearly 100 strategic partners.
