Microsoft is bringing its Xbox Copilot to the Windows Game Bar
'Gaming Copilot knows what you're playing and understands your Xbox activity to provide an experience centered around you,' says Taylor O'Malley, principal program manager at Xbox. You'll be able to ask the Copilot for help with the game you're playing, as well as access achievements and play history. The Gaming Copilot will be available as a widget inside the Game Bar, and it includes a voice mode so you can talk to the AI assistant without having to alt + tab out of a game.
The Gaming Copilot will even use screenshots of your game to help answer questions about it, without you having to describe things in detail. That could be as simple as asking 'what am I looking at?' while facing a boss in a game, and Copilot should respond with details about the boss and perhaps even methods to take it down.
This is the first step in Microsoft's vision to turn its Xbox Copilot into an AI gaming coach. Microsoft is positioning the Gaming Copilot as a sidekick, one that will accompany you through games and offer tips and information about game worlds. Microsoft has previously demonstrated using the Gaming Copilot with Overwatch 2, letting it recommend good hero picks to complement the rest of the team.
This early preview is only available in English and limited to the US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and a few other regions. Microsoft isn't making it available in the UK or any other European markets yet. It's planning to release the Gaming Copilot in additional regions at a later date, but it's not clear yet when exactly that will happen.

Apple is preparing a Siri upgrade that could make Gemini users really jealous

The updated Siri is likely to be able to control a variety of third-party apps, performing very specific actions inside those apps. The update is expected to roll out in Spring next year with the iOS 26.4 update. Back in 2024, Apple promised a significant Siri upgrade that would understand voice commands better, have a more intuitive model running underneath, and be 'deeply integrated' into the system. The upgraded version was delayed due to performance issues, and Apple integrated ChatGPT instead, so it doesn't appear far behind in the AI race, without actually upgrading Siri from the ground up. The newer version of Siri is now expected to launch sometime next year, and to make up for the long delay, Apple may be looking to add exceptional capabilities that will allow Siri to control all of your iPhone with just your voice, zipping ahead of Gemini by a long margin. Previously, when Apple showcased Siri's improved capabilities, they were limited to system apps and settings. However, this weekend's Power On newsletter (paywalled) by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman talks about an enhanced version that will also be able to control any third-party app. With this new version of Siri, Gurman says, you will be able to perform actions such as editing a photo, commenting on a social media post, or even purchasing particular items from any shopping app, using nothing but your voice. This improved version is powered by Apple's App Intents, a framework that allows Apple's interfaces, such as Spotlight or Siri, to perform actions using apps not made by Apple. This is analogous to Android's App Actions. Apple's implementation is intended to control your iPhone, iPad, or Mac the same way you would, but without any touch input. Gurman doesn't delve into the technical details but says Apple is actively testing the feature to iron out performance issues, especially in 'high-stakes' scenarios that may involve financial transactions. It is currently testing the upgraded Siri to work with a host of popular third-party apps, such as AllTrails, Amazon, Facebook, Temu, Threads, Uber, WhatsApp, and YouTube. However, the feature's success lies in App Intents working seamlessly with a wide variety of apps, which is why Apple's engineers are hard at work ensuring broad compatibility. Apple is likely to bring the overhauled Siri experience out in the Spring of 2026, possibly as part of iOS 26.4. If implemented well, it could open up an era of agentic mobile usage and hopefully inspire Google to do the same. The improved Siri could also set rumored Apple home products, including a smart display and a tabletop robot, apart from existing products from Amazon or Google. That is why Siri's delay has not only impacted mobile devices but also other categories in Apple's portfolio. Can Gemini compete with the new Siri? Meanwhile, while we have seen evidence about Google attempting to control third-party apps with Gemini, though functional controls have primarily been limited to Google's own handful of apps. A major leap for Google in this direction could be the rumored Magic Cue functionality, which is expected to read contents on your screen, capture a short history of your usage, and be prepared to help you with actions that might follow. We're still unsure of the exact functionality and how well it compares to the proposed Siri — or if it will even be able to control apps or just assist users with suggested actions. However, it could be limited to the Pixel 10 series at launch, instead of rolling out widely to all Android devices, which could disappoint those hoping to enjoy a more intelligent assistant on their phones. Sound-wise, they deliver strong bass and clear highs. The bass doesn't overpower vocals, and the treble avoids harshness. JBL's Personi-Fi 2.0 personalisation tool tests your hearing and tailors the sound accordingly, in my case, making the treble brighter. You can further fine-tune the sound with the built-in equaliser. Noise cancellation is solid, thanks to both the passive isolation from the sealed tips and the active noise cancelling (ANC) system. ANC effectively cuts ambient noise, and you can dial in more passthrough with the app's slider. Call quality is also clear, with wind noise handled efficiently. Battery life is equally strong: up to eight hours with ANC on, plus another 30 hours from the case. Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE about their shared ink, the granddaughter, 31, says they've "joked about it for years." "She's always had this fun, bold and spunky streak that keeps everyone on their toes," Griffin says of her 87-year-old grandma. "As she's gotten older, I started feeling like this would be a beautiful way to commemorate her, her fire, her boldness and her commitment to always being unapologetically herself." The pair planned the outing a few weeks in advance and "made a whole day of it," even bringing along Griffin's aunt to also get the matching tattoo. The video shows Jaecks getting tattooed at Silver Lining Tattoo in Geneva, Ill. While getting inked, Jaecks flashes the camera a thumbs-up. She is then shown checking out her new arm tattoo in a mirror with a pleased expression on her face. "This is your sign to get a matching tattoo with your grandma," the text on the video reads. In the caption, Griffin sweetly wrote, "I have the coolest grandma in the world. Such a special moment getting to get a matching tattoo with her. She's my heart & soul." On the big day, Griffin recalls her and her grandma feeling "a little nervous at first." However, those feelings were outweighed by their excitement and sentimental emotions. "My sister couldn't be there that day, but she's planning to get the same hummingbird soon so she can be part of it too. What started as a simple idea turned into this incredibly special multi-generational experience, something we'll all remember forever," she says. "There was such a beautiful energy in the room, lots of giggles and having fun, but there were also these sweet quiet moments where we all kind of sat in the weight of how special it was," the granddaughter adds. Their tattoo artist, Pedro, brought the experience to the next level. "He was so kind, patient and genuinely invested in making it a memorable experience for all of us, especially for my grandma," Griffin shares, adding that the two exchanged stories about their lives at one point. "He told us my grandma was the oldest client he's ever tattooed, and you could tell it really meant something to him. He treated her with such care and respect," she added. As for their choice of tattoo, Griffin says, "My grandma has always loved gardening and being outside; she lights up when she sees hummingbirds zipping around her backyard. But beyond just being her favorite, the hummingbird felt symbolic for her." She adds that, like her grandma, the birds are "known for their boldness, resilience and fierce independence." The hummingbird tattoo was Jaecks' second tattoo, according to her granddaughter, who says she was "an absolute rock star" during the process. "She didn't even flinch and afterward just shrugged and said, 'That wasn't bad at all!' " The two, Griffin says, have always had a special bond. "She helped raise me, and I truly feel like so much of who I am is because of her," she shares. "She's spunky, strong, wildly supportive, a total badass woman who's never been afraid to speak her mind or live life on her own terms." The Chicago-based photographer adds that her grandma's "whole outlook is about living boldly and staying true to who you are." "She's never tried to be anyone but herself, and she encourages everyone around her to do the same. To her, life is too short to play it safe or follow the crowd, you've got to do the things that light you up, whether that's gardening, going on an adventure, or getting a tattoo at 87," she says.
