Child Culture Centre drives digital innovation to preserve Omani heritage
In 2024, the centre's programmes benefited 35,603 children, with 39,383 more reached between January and July this year. Director Salwa bint Saif al Rashidi said the projects go beyond entertainment, fostering a sustainable link between children and their cultural identity while equipping them with future skills.
Key projects include 'Amber' and 'The Hunter' – games preserving traditional Omani pastimes, 'The Palm Tree and its Associated Practices' VR story on date harvesting, and an 'Interactive Camel Racing Experience.' These initiatives, aligned with Oman Vision 2040, combine fun with knowledge to strengthen national identity and cultural heritage among the youth.

BEIJING: Represented by the Ministry of Education, the Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the 2025 International Art Week held in the Chinese city of Dunhuang from August 9 to 14 under the theme "Ode to Peace". Municipality prepares to make Muscat Nights 2026 bigger, better
Muscat – Muscat Municipality has announced the opening of bids for two tenders as part of preparations for the highly anticipated Muscat Nights 2026 festival. In a statement, the municipality said it is inviting specialised companies to submit proposals for marketing and promoting Muscat Nights 2026, as well as for designing and operating the Children's World events during the festival. The deadline for submitting bids is September 21, 2025. The tenders form part of the municipality's strategy to expand the scale and reach of Muscat Nights, which has grown into one of the capital's most prominent annual attractions, drawing thousands of residents and visitors each year. The festival typically features cultural performances, art exhibitions, food festivals, traditional markets and family-friendly entertainment across multiple venues in the city. By offering a dedicated tender for Children's World , Muscat Municipality aims to create an engaging space for young visitors, combining educational activities, interactive games and creative workshops. Officials hope this focus will attract more families and broaden the festival's appeal to diverse audiences. The municipality stressed that the marketing tender will be key to promoting Muscat Nights 2026 locally and globally, showcasing the capital as a vibrant tourism and cultural hub in line with Oman Vision 2040 objectives to boost the events and tourism sectors. Muscat Nights 2025 set a new benchmark for the event, attracting a record-breaking 1.7mn visitors. According to the municipality, the festival was a resounding success, marking a significant milestone in Oman's cultural and tourism calendar. The 2025 edition spanned seven locations – Amerat Park, Naseem Public Park, Oman Automobile Association, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Al Hail Beach, Wadi al Khoud and Qurum Natural Park – with venues carefully selected to ensure accessibility for both residents and tourists across Muscat.

Khareef Dhofar unveils heritage experiences
SALALAH: The Dhofar Municipality is organising a variety of events for the Khareef Dhofar Season 2025, offering a comprehensive experience that blends culture, entertainment and innovation. The season features international shows, some of which are being presented for the first time in Oman and globally. The various event locations are attracting a large number of visitors due to their diverse and engaging content. Ammar bin Obaid Gawas, Director of Events and Awareness at Dhofar Municipality, stated that the Attin Square is a centrepiece of this season's events. It hosts one of the world's largest inflatable play cities, a stage with the latest sound and lighting technology, eco-friendly fireworks, drone shows and folklore performances from 18 countries. It also features diverse markets for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local products from Omani entrepreneurs. He added that the Modern Waterfront provides a complete family entertainment destination, including a walkway, a children's area, a princesses' palace, and a variety of restaurants and food trucks. It also hosts the 'Awdah' event, which simulates traditional Omani life with shows of traditional arts, heritage markets and handicrafts that preserve the national heritage. Gawas explained that Awqad Park, branded as 'Children's Time', is dedicated to providing innovative educational and recreational activities for children in a safe environment. Meanwhile, Salalah Park, or the 'Healthy Park', hosts sports paths and challenges suitable for all ages, encouraging an active and balanced lifestyle. Ammar bin Obaid Gawas, Director of Events and Awareness, Dhofar Municipality Gawas also noted that the season includes multiple accompanying events such as 'Awsara', 'Avicenna' and 'Al Gharf', as well as the Frankincense Market and Al Haffa Beach Market. Activities are also being held in the wilayats of Taqah, Mirbat and Sadah. The season is also hosting major international sporting events, including the Salalah International Cycling Tour, the Dhofar International Sand Drag Race Championship, and a traditional weapons shooting competition. He affirmed that Dhofar Municipality has been keen on highlighting Omani identity at all event locations, with more than a thousand national projects for productive families and entrepreneurs.
