Michigan's sign-stealer, Conor Stalions, says he knew most signals in 7 games over 2 seasons
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Former Michigan football staff member Connor Stalions, whose actions triggered an NCAA investigation into sign-stealing, says he knew almost every signal opponents used in seven games over two seasons.
Stalions shared those details Saturday on social media, responding to TCU coach Sonny Dykes telling On3 that his team changed some signs in advance of its win over the Wolverines in the 2022 College Football semifinals.
'We got some favorable matchups because of that and, yeah, there was some big plays in the game," Dykes said in the On3 report.
Stalions bristled at the latest attempt to suggest Michigan won or lost games because of his sign-stealing role with the team.
'There were 7 games in my time at Michigan where I knew almost every signal the whole game: 2021 MSU, 2022 MSU, 2022 PSU, 2022 OSU, 2022 TCU, 2021 Georgia, and 2021 Wisconsin,' Stalions wrote in his post. "We lost 3 of those games because we didn't tackle well, and Georgia was historically good. We won the four other games because we dominated the line of scrimmage & tackled well. Blocking, ball security, tackling, run fits & coverage tools.
'That's football. This is not rocket science.'
Nearly a year ago, the NCAA alleged in a notice relating to Michigan's sign-stealing investigation that current coach Sherrone Moore violated rules as an assistant under former coach Jim Harbaugh, who served a three-game suspension in exchange for the Big Ten dropping its own investigation into the allegations after the two ended up in court.
Moore also was accused of deleting text messages with Stalions, before they were recovered and provided to the NCAA. Moore has said he has and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA's investigation.
Michigan is prepared to suspend Moore for two games during the coming season. The NCAA will decide if that self-imposed sanction is enough to address allegations that Moore failed to cooperate in an investigation that rocked college football during the 2023 championship season with Harbaugh on the sideline.
The school had a hearing with the NCAA's Committee on Infractions last month. The governing body takes three months on average for contested cases to make a final decision.
The Wolverines open the season on Aug. 30 at home against New Mexico State and then go to Oklahoma, where Moore was an offensive lineman, on Sept. 6.
The NCAA does not have rules against stealing signs, but it does prohibit schools from sending scouts to the games of future opponents and using electronic equipment to record another team's signals. Records from other Big Ten schools showed that Stalions bought tickets to games involving future opponents, sending people to digitally record teams when they signaled plays.
Stalions initially was placed on leave by Michigan and later resigned. He did not participate in the NCAA investigation.
The NCAA previously put Michigan on three years of probation, fined the school and implemented recruiting limits after reaching a negotiated resolution in a recruiting case and banned Harbaugh from coaching college football for four years.

30 most important Bills players of 2025: No. 23 Elijah Moore
As the Buffalo Bills prepare for the 2025 NFL season, we'll take a look at the most important contributors on their roster. They have a ton of cornerstone players who will be returning for another shot at bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo, and they'll have help from some new additions as well. Leading up to the season, we will be counting down the top 30 most important players on the roster. We'll recap their 2024 season, look ahead to what they'll offer in 2025, and tackle the most pressing questions surrounding them this coming year. Next up on the countdown is Elijah Moore. Background Position: WR Age at start of season: 25 Experience: Fifth year 2025 cap hit: $2,500,000 2024 recap Elijah Moore posted a career-high 61 catches in Cleveland in 2024 across 17 games played and 13 games started. He attracted 102 targets, which was the second-straight season he had over 100 targets. That number would have led the Bills offense last year, as Khalil Shakir was the team leader with exactly 100 targets. 2025 outlook While Moore was highly targeted in Cleveland over the last two years, he now enters a Bills offense with a lot more competition for targets. He'll have to earn his share while playing with guys like Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, and fellow-newcomer Joshua Palmer. Moore hasn't been a part of ideal offensive situations with the Jets (2021-22) and Browns (2023-24) as he played with numerous quarterbacks and play-callers, but now he teams up with an MVP quarterback in Josh Allen and a highly-regarded offensive coordinator in Joe Brady. On a low-risk, prove-it deal, Moore could be in a perfect spot to turn his career up a notch. Biggest question: How much will he be involved in the passing game? Moore was turning heads this spring with his route-running and ability to separate, but once the pads come on it will be more difficult for a speedy WR to turn heads. He will be an important player to watch this coming training camp to see where and how much he will be involved in the offense. He has the ability to play outside and in the slot, so Brady will be able to get creative with his personnel packages if they want to fully utilize his talents. 30 Most Important Bills of 2025 Check back as we continue to countdown on our list of the 30 most important Bills ahead of the 2025 season. No. 30 DT T.J. Sanders, No. 29 LB Dorian Williams, No. 28 DT Larry Ogunjobi, No. 27 Alec Anderson, No. 26 DE A.J. Epenesa, No. 25 DT DaQuan Jones, No. 24 TE Dawson Knox.

Shane Gillis gives Sherrone Moore and Michigan Wolverines an unexpected reminder about pending NCAA sanctions during ESPYs
Shane Gillis gives Sherrone Moore and Michigan Wolverines an unexpected reminder about pending NCAA sanctions during ESPYs originally appeared on A to Z Sports. The ESPY Awards brought a good number of expected segments, including honoring recent champions and cracking a few jokes. With comedian Shane Gillis hosting, there were a number of excellent moments that crossed a line that we don't often see in situations like this. Gillis was fantastic, and he reached further into his bag than anyone could've guessed. The Notre Dame fan not only fanned some shade at the Ohio State Buckeyes, but he made sure to give Michigan a certain reminder of their own drama. Gillis started with the Buckeyes, noting they "won the national championship, but also lost to Michigan.' But then, the Wolverines became Gillis' fodder for content. View the to see embedded media. 'Michigan, who didn't cheat this time. Beat them fair and square,' Gillis said. 'Are we ever going to hold (Michigan) accountable? Yeah, whatever, they're allowed to cheat, no repercussions.' The NCAA Committee on Infractions has not ruled on Michigan's hearing that took place on June 6 and 7. However, the results will be made public no later than September 9, so it's only a matter of time. For now, it's all fun and laughs in the moment, but everyone in college football and at Michigan is interested in the fallout from the sign-stealing scandal. View the to see embedded media. Lions training camp medical preview: EDGE
The EDGE pass-rushing position has been a concern for many years dating back to the Matt Patricia era. Aidan Hutchinson was a home-run selection in the 2022 draft but is coming off a significant leg injury. Behind him are a lot of players with question marks entering the season - both in terms of health and ability. Last year, five EDGE's made the initial 53-man roster (Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, Josh Paschal, James Houston, and John Cominsky who was immediately placed on IR). Here is the list of EDGE's starting with the players with the biggest medical question marks entering the season. Ages are at the start of the season. Note: Some of these players may also cross-play at the outside linebacker position. #1: Aidan Hutchinson - 25yo Left tibia/fibula fracture - October 13, 2024 The #1 Lions injury news of last season is healed up and ready for training camp. You can see his latest progress in a recent instagram video: Like a sinewy snake shedding its skin, Hutchinson shed his leg sleeve which had been present throughout the offseason - worn possibly for cosmetic reasons to hide the atrophy. There still appears to be some atrophy of the left leg but that's not a concern. Projection: Hutchinson will be a full-go starting in Week 1 at Lambeau. Physically, he will likely return to his pre-injury form quickly, but residual effects are always possible. Even if he is physically complete, there are mental hurdles to overcome which could result in some production lag. #2: Marcus Davenport - 29yo Left elbow - September 22, 2024 After missing all but two games of last season due to a groin and elbow (reportedly a triceps tear), Davenport is on a 1-year, prove-it contract. He was a full participant in OTA last month which means he is ready for the season. Projection: Davenport returns to the starting lineup in Week 1. For the rest of the season, fans will be keeping a close eye on his availability - which could be a huge determining factor in the final outcome for the team. #3: Josh Paschal - 25yo Paschal missed one game with an unspecified right knee issue last year and missed two more due to a shoulder mass excision. While the shoulder mass isn't a concern, the knee could be something to monitor as he was limited at June OTA. Projection: Paschal will start the season as a key backup and will log a high percentage of snaps throughout the year. He will be highly motivated to produce, as this is the 4th and final year of his rookie deal. #4: Al-Quadin Muhammad - 30yo Muhammad has been healthy throughout his career - but he is on the wrong side of 30. He became a key member of the team towards the end of last season as defensive line injuries mounted. He showed decent production finishing with 295 snaps and 3 sacks. Projection: Muhammad makes the 53-man roster and gets a lot of snaps this year to see if he can build on the success he had last season. #5: Mitchell Agude - 26yo In his first season of action in the NFL last year, Agude logged 40 snaps without a sack. He has been healthy during his brief career, but he did have a life-threatening concussion and head injury at age nine. That injury could become an issue if he has any future concussions. Projection: All of Agude's snaps last season were in the final five games which creates optimism that he can build on that going forward. He'll need to ramp up his productivity during this preseason. #6: Nate Lynn - 23yo Lynn was an undrafted rookie last season. He had a season-ending shoulder injury last preseason and missed the whole year on IR. While "season-ending" sounds serious, sometimes minor injuries can land fringe players on IR for roster management reasons. Presumably his shoulder has recovered at this point although residuals are possible. He was a full participant at June OTA which is a good sign. Projection: Lynn will be competing with other "unprovens" in Agude and Ukwu to try to earn a role with the team this season. #7: Ahmed Hassanein - 23yo The Lions had hoped to address the EDGE position earlier in the draft but were not able to land one until the Hassanein selection in the 6th-round. This means that all eyes will be on this Egyptian rookie in the hopes he can outplay his draft status. He will enter the season healthy despite a minor ankle issue at the end of his college career. That injury is healed up as he was a full participant at OTA. Projection: Hassanein will be a welcome injection of healthy youth at the EDGE position. His energy and enthusiasm will make him a camp darling as he earns a spot on the 53-man roster. #8: Isaac Ukwu - 26yo Ukwu played 70 defensive snaps last year in his first season of action in the NFL. All those snaps came in Week 6 and 7. The lack of playing time for the rest of the season tempers expectations. He has a history of bilateral ACL tears (2020 and 2019), but those aren't a significant concern now Projection: Ukwu will get plenty of chances in all four preseason games to see if he can take a step up in productivity. #9: Keith Cooper - 22yo Signed after the 2025 draft as an undrafted rookie, Cooper is a bigger EDGE at 280 pounds. Projection: The Lions seem to favor larger EDGE players which gives Cooper an advantage over some of the other guys in this group. His young age is also a big plus.
