'Flowers Bloom,' a heartfelt collection of life-affirming stories by Dr Krishna Saksena launched in New Delhi
The book was formally launched by renowned medical professional and Padma Shri awardee, Dr Kalyan Banerjee, in the presence of literary and academic dignitaries.
'Flowers Bloom' is a curated collection of short stories, deeply rooted in Indian ethos, cultural values, and spiritual insight.
Written in a lucid and accessible style, the stories offer thoughtful reflections on life, character, and human conscience.
Through simple yet poignant narratives, the book seeks to inspire readers to rediscover virtues such as empathy, humility, and compassion.
Speaking at the event, Dr Saksena emphasised the transformative power of storytelling.
'Stories have the ability to touch hearts where mere instruction fails. Even the Vedas use stories to impart wisdom. If this book helps someone pause, reflect, and live with a little more kindness, I will consider my work worthwhile,' she said.
Dr Banerjee, who unveiled the book, praised the work as timeless.
'Dr Saksena's stories are rich with emotional depth and human connection. They transcend age and context, offering lessons that are universally relevant. Her characters are relatable, and each story quietly encourages introspection,' he said in a press statement.
The title 'Flowers Bloom' symbolises both beauty and selflessness, echoing the book's core message. Just as flowers spread fragrance without expectation, the stories aim to offer quiet wisdom and comfort to readers from all walks of life.
Dr Krishna Saksena, a pioneer in Indian academia, was the first woman in Uttar Pradesh to earn a PhD in 1955.
A former professor at Delhi University, she has authored several acclaimed books, including 'The Gita As I Understand', 'Take a U Turn', and 'Tales My Wrinkles Tell.'
Her literary contributions are widely admired for their simplicity, emotional clarity, and spiritual resonance. (ANI)

For most of her childhood, Sara Tendulkar's connection with Australia was shaped by the rhythm of her father Sachin Tendulkar's cricketing tours. Today, years later, those personal memories are coming full circle as she steps into the spotlight in her own right as the new face of Tourism Australia's Come and Say G'day campaign for Indian campaign, which has already found global success with its animated mascot Ruby the Souvenir Kangaroo, marks one of Sara's first major brand collaborations. 'I distinctly remember spending New Year's Eve in Australia in Sydney, the ones we were there when we visited every four years. We would spend New Year's Eve on a boat with the whole team. That's something I will never forget,' she MYSELF TO GULLY CRICKETShe also spoke of her frequent visits to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground during her younger years. Just last December, she was spotted cheering for India during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, an experience that gave her a new appreciation of its atmosphere.'When I was young, I don't think I realised the significance of the MCG. But now, when I went back, all those memories came rushing back,' she said, reflecting on how her understanding of the stadium's importance has grown with time. Even with such intimate proximity to cricket, Sara is clear the sport was never on her horizon. 'Never. It's been my brother's forte. I have played gully cricket, but never thought about it.'She might have countless favourite memories of her father's iconic knocks, but the most vivid, Sara says, is of his farewell to the game in 2013.'If I have to pick one vivid memory, then I would pick his retirement match. I was old enough to really understand what that meant at that point. When I was younger, I went for the games, but I never really grasped the enormity of them.'Stepping into the limelight in her own way has also meant learning to navigate public attention. Sara credits her father for grounding her with advice that continues to guide her. 'He always told me that when I have freedom and independence, I should always be responsible. That's something that I have tried to follow when I left for college.'Her association with Tourism Australia reflects just that balance: personal history meeting new opportunities. The tourism board, which has identified India as one of its fastest-growing markets, has launched the second phase of its campaign tailored for Indian travellers, placing Sara at the centre as someone who has lived those experiences herself.- Ends

Lyricist Binod Pasayat dies in Sambalpur
Sambalpur: Eminent Sambalpuri lyricist and playwright Binod Pasayat, a Padma Shri awardee, died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital in Sambalpur. He was 90. On his demise, Union education minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan said "I am deeply saddened by the demise of the noted playwright, poet and writer from Sambalpur. He silently contributed to elevating Sambalpuri literature to a new height. In this hour of grief, may Mahaprabhu bless the family with immense courage and strength." The chief minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, posted on X, that "I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of the distinguished playwright, poet, and litterateur Binod Kumar Pasayat, a recipient of the Padma Shri award. His demise is an irreparable loss to our literature and culture. I pray to Lord Jagannath that he grants peace to the departed soul and provides strength to his family to bear this sorrow." According to family sources, Pasayat had fallen ill two days ago and was under treatment at his residence. However, as his health condition worsened and he was rushed to the hospital, where he breathed his last. Born on Dec 3, 1935, in Kusmel village of Balangir district, Pasayat moved to Sambalpur in 1953 and became a recognised artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He earned wide recognition with the Sambalpuri bhajan "Hai Krushna Hai Krushna Boli Jau Mor Jibana", which continues to be popular. A recipient of the Padma Shri in 2024, Pasayat enriched Sambalpuri literature and music with evergreen creations like "E Nani Sulochana", "Rathar Chaka Chale Ghidi Ghidi", and "Bajuche Madala Ae Baula Kurei Phula." He also penned songs for Odia films such as "Samarpan" and "Para Stri." Besides songs, he authored several acclaimed Sambalpuri dramas, including "Ukhi," "Mui Nai Mare," "Lita," "Chinha," and "Bharna." His works are regarded as milestones in Sambalpuri cultural heritage. Despite having earned such high fame and recognition, Pasayat continued working as a barber, which is the trade of his forefathers. He shut his shop due to failing health about two years back.
