So far, Yamal and Mbappe have met six times in official matches. Out of those, Yamal has been on the winning side five times.
The first two clashes happened when Mbappe was still at Paris Saint-Germain. While PSG won their 2023/24 Champions League quarter-final tie on aggregate, it was Barça who won 3-2 in the first leg, a match where Yamal impressed.

Mbappe only tasted victory over Yamal once, in the second leg at Montjuic, when PSG won 4-1, with Mbappe scoring twice. Even then, Yamal made an impact by assisting Raphinha for Barcelona's only goal.
Their only meeting on the international stage came in July 2024, when Spain beat France 2-1 despite falling behind early. The Barcelona star scored the equaliser for Spain in another big moment against Mbappe.
Since then, the rivalry has shifted completely in Barcelona's favour. Under Hansi Flick, Barça have dominated the Clasicos — starting with a 4-0 win in La Liga, then a convincing victory in the Spanish Super Cup, and now a thrilling win in the Copa del Rey final.
Even though Mbappe managed to score in the latest final, it was not enough to stop Barcelona and Yamal from lifting the trophy once again.

Much like the World Cup for national teams, the Club World Cup will start with a group stage, with the 32 participants divided into eight groups of four. Those groups will operate on a round-robin basis, with a given team playing the other members of the group once, and the top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout round. That will leave 16 teams standing, and from there it's pretty simple: winners advance, losers go home. The knockout stages will progress from a round of 16 to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the tournament final on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. When does the FIFA Club World Cup start? The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will run from June 14 to July 13 at locations spread throughout the United States. An altogether noteworthy update on the incoming departure of Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati has this weekend surfaced online. This comes amid claims that, contrary to previous speculation, the 22-year-old's summer exit will come with the certainty of bringing a permanent close to his Blaugrana stint. Advertisement Ansu's name has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines across Europe for several weeks now. This comes after AS Monaco opened talks with their Barcelona counterparts, over bringing the winger to Ligue 1 for next season. After Ansu struggled for game-time under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick in Catalunya's capital this past season, Deco and co. quickly opened to the prospect of a sale. Initially, the understanding was that as much would come by way of a loan, featuring an option to buy. As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Saturday is anything to go by, Monaco's clause at the end of the 2025/26 campaign will in fact come in the form of a permanent one.
