In what comes as a huge embarrassment for Pakistan, PM Shehbaz Sharif has recently revealed that none of Islamabad's allies expected him to come to them with a 'begging bowl'.
His statement came amidst Pakistan's heightened tensions with India and weeks after a four-day military conflict with the Indian armed forces.
Sharif said both the government and the army were no longer willing to carry the weight of the country's economic dependency.
The Pakistani prime minister was addressing military personnel in Quetta on Saturday (May 31). In his speech, he called China 'a time-tested friend' and Saudi Arabia a 'trusted' ally. Pakistan reportedly used China-made military equipment, including jets, in its conflict with India in May.

'China is the most time-tested friend of Pakistan. Saudi Arabia is one of the most reliable and trustworthy friends of Pakistan. This applies to Turkey, Qatar and the UAE,' he said.
'But let me point out abundantly here that they expect us now to engage them in trade, commerce, innovation, research and development, education and health, investments, and profitable ventures mutually. They no longer expect us to go there with a begging bowl,' PM Sharif added.
Sharif emphasised that Pakistan must fully leverage its natural and human resources to overcome economic difficulties, stating that both he and Field Marshal Asim Munir are unwilling to continue bearing the weight of dependency.
'I am the last person, along with Field Marshal Asim Munir, to carry this (economic) burden any more on our shoulders. The Almighty has blessed us with natural and human resources. We must make full use of them and deploy them for these very profitable ventures,' he further said.
The Pakistani PM's comments were made as allies like Turkey supported Islamabad and criticised India's strikes on terror camps in the neighbouring country.
On May 7, India initiated Operation Sindoor , targeting nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The operation resulted in the deaths of 100 terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.

PM Modi likely to flag off Vande Bharat train in Katra; his first J&K visit post Pahalgam terror attack

NEW DELHI: In what would be his first visit following Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to flag off the Vande Bharat train from Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. All preparations are underway to ensure the success of the Prime Minister's visit to inaugurate the first Vande Bharat train in the region. Although no official statement regarding the Prime Minister's anticipated visit has been issued, sources have indicated that the local administration in Katra is reportedly making arrangements for the expected event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was previously scheduled to inaugurate the service, but the event was cancelled at the last moment due to inclement weather. Sources have suggested that other railway projects, such as the inauguration of the Chenab Bridge, may also be included in the programme, which is tentatively scheduled to take place on 6 June. In fact, as sources noted, the government aims to complete this programme before 9 June, which marks the 11th anniversary of Narendra Modi's tenure as Prime Minister. The government is reportedly planning nationwide celebrations and outreach programmes highlighting its achievements on that date. 'The date has not yet been finalised, but PM Modi is set to inaugurate the historic Katra-Kashmir Vande Bharat train soon. The tentative date is believed to be 6 June, the day PM Modi is also likely to chair the first meeting of the Union Council of Ministers after Operation Sindoor,' remarked a senior official of the railways, adding that confirmation of the Prime Minister's programme is expected by today. Meanwhile, the local administration in Katra is coordinating with Indian Railways to make all necessary security arrangements and complete other formalities. Sources added that Prime Minister Modi's visit to Katra for the railway function will be his first since the Pahalgam terror attack, and it is expected that he may address the gathering on the occasion. However, sources stated that no tentative programme has yet been announced regarding a possible visit by the Prime Minister to Srinagar.

India's only company in global technology companies list is…, not Narayana Murthy's Infosys, Ratan Tata's TCS, Wipro, name is….

Narayana Murthy, Late Ratan Tata, Azim Premji (Left to right) Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries has secured a spot as the sole Indian company in the top 30 publicly traded global technology firms, according to a comprehensive 340-page report titled 'Trends – Artificial Intelligence.' The report shows the rapid global adoption and transformative influence of AI technologies. The ranking is also based on market capitalization so it kept Reliance Industries among the world's tech leaders. The top eight positions are dominated by US giants like Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta Platforms, Tesla, and Broadcom. Taiwan's TSMC is ranked 9th, followed by China's Tencent. Reliance, with a market capitalisation of USD 216 billion, is ranked 23rd, according to the list. 'Over the past 30 years (1995-2025), just five companies remained on the top 30 most highly valued publicly traded global technology companies – Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, IBM and AT&T,' the report said. It went on to list Reliance alongside the likes of Nvidia, Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Tesla, Alibaba, Salesforce and China Mobile as the new entrants. 'In 1995, the USA had 53 per cent (16 of 30) of the most valuable tech companies and 70 per cent (21 of 30) in 2025,' it said. In 1995, Japan had 30 per cent (9 of 30) of top tech companies and zero in 2025. The UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico and Malaysia had 1 each, but now none are on the list. 'In 2025, new geographic entrants include China with 3, Germany with 2, Taiwan with 1, Netherlands with 1, South Korea with 1 and India with 1,' it said. Taiwan has only one company on the list – TSMC – the company produces 80-90 per cent of the world's most advanced semiconductors and 62 per cent of global semiconductors. According to the report, India has the most number of ChatGPT mobile app users in the world. It accounts for 13.5 per cent of monthly active users of the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot developed by OpenAI. It is ahead of the USA (8.9 per cent), Indonesia (5.7 per cent) and Brazil (5.4 per cent). Pakistan has 3 per cent of users. India also accounts for 6.9 per cent of active global users of Chinese AI app DeepSeek, behind China (33.9 per cent) and Russia (9.2 per cent). 'Artificial intelligence is reshaping the modern landscape at breakneck speed. What began as research has scaled into emerging core infrastructure across industries – powering everything from customer support to software development, scientific discovery, education, and manufacturing,' the report said. AI, it said, is accelerating, touching more domains, and becoming more embedded in how work gets done. 'Catalysing this growth is the global availability of easy-to-use multimodal AI tools (like ChatGPT) on pervasive mobile devices, augmented by a steep decline in inference costs and an explosion in model availability. Both closed and open-source tools are now widely accessible and increasingly capable, enabling solo developers, startups, and enterprises alike to experiment and deploy with minimal friction,' it said. Whether through embedded intelligence in SaaS or agentic workflows in consumer apps, the interface layer is being rewritten in real time. On the computer side, investment continues to scale dramatically. Capital expenditures across major cloud providers, chipmakers, and hyperscalers have hit new highs, driven by the race to enable real-time, high-volume inference at scale. The investment is not just in chips, but also in new data centres, networking infrastructure, and energy systems to support growing demand. 'Whether this level of capital expenditure persists remains to be seen, but as AI moves closer to the edge – in vehicles, farms, labs, and homes – distinction between digital and physical infrastructure continues to blur,' the report said. ‘With support of your friends in China…': Shashi Tharoor censures Pakistan, Beijing for shielding terror group at UN

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is currently leading an all-party delegation overseas, attacked Pakistan and China for preventing Lashkar-e-Taiba's 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) from being named in a UNSC statement. Tharoor alleged that Pakistan, 'with the support of their friends in China', made sure that the front is not named in a press statement made by the United Nations Security Council. While interacting with Ambassador Celso Amorim, Head Adviser of the Special Advisory to the President of Brazil, Tharoor pointed out that India tried to raise the issue of LeT-backed terror group the Resistance Front before the UN Sanctions Committee multiple times, but the action was blocked by China's support to Pakistan. Tharoor said, 'LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) has created this front called Resistance Front, we have been reporting about Resistance Front to UN Sanctions Committee, time after time. They (TRF) claimed credit for the killings, and the next day they repeated that claim. But when they realised the gravity of it, their handlers in Pakistan got them to delete the claim. However, their claim is on record for 24 hours.' Attacking Pakistan and Beijing, the Congress MP said, 'When India encouraged our friends on Security Council to mention the Resistance Front in the press statement that Security Council issued, Pakistan government, I am sorry to say that, with the support of your friend in China, took out the name, so there is not even a reference.' Tharoor, among other MPs, is part of an all-party delegation tasked with travelling to dozens of countries and spreading the message behind India's Operation Sindoor and the fight against terrorism. During his interaction with Ambassador Amorim in Brazil, the senior Congress leader said that India's fight is against terrorism being used as an instrument of state policy. He also pointed out how the funerals of terrorists who were killed in Operation Sindoor were attended by senior police and military officials in Pakistan. Tharoor, while holding up a photo of one of these funerals, said, 'When we struck those terror bases on May 7, there was a funeral at one of these sites conducted by Hafiz Abdur Rauf, an LeT figure named by the United Nations. Look who's attending the funeral – uniformed officials of the police and military of Pakistan. These are all senior officials, this is what is going on in Pakistan.'
