‘Jazz Jam on the Yard' to bring music and more to local university
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A local university is preparing to host a community event poised to bring vibrant music, spoken word and a moment of relaxation.
The university announced that Jazz Jam on the Yard is returning to the campus on June 26 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The event will be hosted by Central State University's Counseling Services, Residence Life, Extension, and Family and Consumer Science.
'This event supports CSU's commitment to fostering a culture of care and collaboration across campus and the surrounding community,' the university says.
Jazz Jam on the Yard will take place at the Outdoor Amphitheatre of the University Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Versailles Poultry Days seeks world record for largest BBQ soon
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The massive Poultry Days festival in Versailles, is attempting to break the world record for the World's Largest Chicken BBQ in a single day. The 74th Annual festival will run from June 13 to June 15. It routinely brings in crowds of over 50,000 people. This year, the event wants to break the world record for the largest chicken BBQ. Organizers said they have two semi-truck loads of chicken, and over 16,000 halves will be cooked. Culver's picks July 7 for West Carrollton opening date The festival is a vital part of the history of Versailles. It has run for 73 years without interruption, including a modified version durning the 2020 pandemic, and it has served over 1.2 million dinners. There will be a four-lane drive/walk-through station for chicken on 459 S. Center St. It will open at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Pre-purchased bulk coolers will be available at Versailles Exempted Village School, 280 Marker Rd. Over 20 musicians will be performing live all weekend, including Zach Attack, Kevin and the Others, SNAFU, Naked Karate Girls, Eight Ball and The Hammer Jockeys. Summer Arts Festival offers free events in June, July
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — The Summer Arts Festival is returning to Springfield this weekend. The 59th annual Summer Arts Festival begins Thursday, June 12 and will run through July 12. Attendees can visit the Veterans Park Amphitheater in Springfield for a variety of events and entertainment. LIST: Pride Month events in the Miami Valley Attendees can expect a celebration of music, theater, dance and community spirit. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged to enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Various food trucks and concession stands will be available. Attendees can also donate to help support local performing arts. The event and all shows are free of charge. Various themes and live entertainment are planned throughout the summer.
