Shanya Kapoor On Facing Criticism: ‘It's My Job To Listen To Audience'
Shanaya Kapoor discusses handling public scrutiny and social media trolling ahead of her acting debut in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, releasing tomorrow.
Celebrities often have to go through intense public scrutiny and criticism, which can stem from their performances, actions, statements or even their personal life. Recently, Shanaya Kapoor, who will be making her acting debut with the upcoming film, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, opened up about dealing with public opinion and social media trolling, saying that it's her 'responsibility' to listen to the audience.
Speaking to Zoom, the Starkid said, 'I think it's (criticism) very important. As an actor, I've always thought it's my responsibility to listen to what the audience has to say. It's the least I can do because I have the opportunity to stand in front of the camera and perform for them. I am waiting for their approval. I am here to earn my place here through honest decisions and hard work, and I will only earn it if they accept me."
She continued, 'If I don't listen to them, hear them out, and read their remarks, it's unfair, but it's part of what I've chosen to do. So I take it positively. Yes, there is criticism, which I have dealt with throughout the years. And I simply took it very positively. I've taken it as feedback and used it to help me improve as a person and actor, particularly."
'I truly value their feedback and approval on my work. So I'm always reading, or at least reading articles. I'm always reading comments, even if there are other pages with pap photographs. I am seeing everything. I believe it is really important for me to do that," added Shanaya.
Coming to Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, the film also features Vikrant Massey in the lead roles and will be hitting the big screens tomorrow, July 11. Directed by Santosh Singh, it is based on Ruskin Bond's short story The Eyes Have It. In the film, Shanaya will be seen playing a theatre artist while Vikrant will portray a blind musician.
Besides this, Shanaya also has a survival thriller, Tu Yaa Main, with Adarsh Gourav in her kitty. It will be hitting the big screens on Valentine's Day 2026.
Aankhon Ki Gustaalhiyan will be facing a big box office clash with RajKummar Rao's Maalik and James Gunn's much-anticipated Superman.

Discontinuing paid games, free titles like Ludo to stay: Zupee
Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) Gaming platform Zupee on Thursday said it is discontinuing its paid games in view of the Online Gaming Bill that was passed by the Parliament. However, Zupee's free titles like Ludo Supreme, Ludo Turbo, Snakes & Ladders, and Trump Card Mania will continue to be available for all users, the company said in a statement. 'Zupee remains fully operational and our players can continue to enjoy their favourite games on the platform. In line with the new Online Gaming Bill 2025, we are discontinuing paid games," a Zupee spokesperson said. Parliament on Thursday passed a bill to ban all forms of online money games and promote eSports and online social gaming, with the Rajya Sabha approving it without debate amid din. Piloting The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 in the Upper House, Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw said the legislation will promote two-thirds of the online gaming segment. The bill, he said, will ban online money games, which have become a big problem for society, especially middle-class youth. The bill also seeks to prohibit advertisements related to online money games, as well as bars banks and financial institutions from facilitating or transferring funds for any of such games.
