PAGASA announces start of rainy season

GMA Network3 days ago

PAGASA on Monday announced the beginning of the rainy season in the Philippines.
In a statement, the state weather bureau issued the announcement based on the latest weather analysis and rainfall data from selected data-gathering stations.
'Scattered to widespread rainfall has been observed in the past five days due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). This signifies the onset of the rainy season across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas,' PAGASA said.
'However, there may still be breaks in the rainfall that extend over a few days or weeks, referred to as monsoon breaks,' the agency added.
State meteorologists also advised the public to take precautionary measures against the impact of the rainy season, southwest monsoon (Habagat), and other climate and weather events.
Last week, PAGASA declared the start of the Habagat season in the country.

PAGASA: High chance of rain in Luzon, Mindanao due to Habagat, ITCZ

The ITCZ will trigger scattered rains and thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms also due to the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms as a result of localized thunderstorms.
