Rocky's Ace Hardware in South Hadley to celebrate grand opening with giveaways
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A family-owned hardware store that underwent new construction at its location in South Hadley is holding a grand opening celebration this weekend.
The newly expanded Rocky's Ace Hardware replaced the existing store in the same South Hadley Plaza on Newton Street. The larger 10,000 square-foot building includes a 2,000 square-foot garden center with live plants, soil and supplies.

The public is invited to attend a family-friendly event on Friday and Saturday with food samples from the grill, power tool demonstrations, games, and giveaways. The traditional Rocky's board cutting to kick off the store opening begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
'We're really excited about this bright new space,' said Rocky's Ace Hardware President Rocco Falcone. 'The updated layout transforms the shopper experience, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for, and also get some fun new ideas along the way.'
Rocky's Ace Hardware is one of the country's largest family-owned Ace Hardware dealers with 50 locations in nine states. Rocky's has been under the same family ownership since opening its first location in Springfield in 1926.

Longmeadow residents vote in annual town election
LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Voters in Longmeadow went to the polls Tuesday to decide contested races for the select board and the school committee. Crunch Fitness opens in East Longmeadow, offering personalized classes Dan Zwirko, with 1,219 votes, and Shelly Maynard-Dewolf, with 1,150 votes, won the two seats on the select board, finishing ahead of Mark Gold and Maury Garrett. On the school committee side, there are two separate races on the ballot. The first was a three-way race for two seats on the school committee for a three-year term. The two top vote-getters in that race were Emily Hansen, with 1,426 votes, and Zachary Verriden, with 1,375 votes. Finally, there was a two-way race for a single seat on the school committee for a two-year term. H. Kate Bean was the winner of that race with 1,228 votes. Agawam community breaks ground on $230 million high school project
AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The town of Agawam is taking a major step into the future, officially beginning construction on its new high school. Life sciences sector growth slows in Mass. For alumni, this was an emotional farewell, but also an exciting glimpse of what's to come. A symbolic shovel of dirt marked the moment Agawam takes its next big step forward, breaking ground on its brand-new high school. 'Rooted in commitment, collaboration, and the shared belief that our students deserve nothing but the very best,' says Principal Jim Blain. Town officials, students, and alumni gathered at the high school on Cooper Street Tuesday evening, reflecting on the building that's stood there for nearly 7 decades and celebrating a vision that's been years in the making. Mayor Christopher Johnson remarked, 'I think, going to be one of the most beautiful high schools in the valley. We've been waiting a long time to do this, and the great part about this is all the children who will someday graduate from the new Agawam High School.' The $230 million project will feature a new 234,000 square-foot, two-story building that will serve grades 9 through 12. Construction will unfold in phases, wrapping up by 2028. Student Saege Holloman, Class of 2032, reflecting on the future, 'When you think of a school, you think of a foundation–That brings a bunch of students together with a lot of opportunities.
