He said the State police, with assistance from CRPF, CoBRA, Jharkhand's Jaguar, and Odisha's SOG and District Voluntary Force (DVF), had launched the search operation in the nearby forests on the night of May 27. He lauded the security forces for their dedicated efforts in recovering the explosives.
'So far, we have recovered three-fourths of the explosives looted by Maoists and are optimistic about recovering the remaining explosives. The search operation is underway,' the DGP said.
Earlier, DIG (Western Range) Brijesh Rai said the security personnel recovered 1,000 kg of explosives on Tuesday night. On Monday, around 2.5 tonnes of explosives were recovered, he said, adding that the explosives were buried in the dense jungle. A group of 25-30 Maoists robbed a truck transporting explosives to Banko stone quarry in K Balang area on May 27. 'The search operation is underway in the dense forests of adjoining Jharkhand,' Rai said.
Meanwhile, Odisha Police arrested the owner of an explosive warehouse, Sraban Agarwal, and the driver of the truck, on Tuesday. Replying to a question, the DGP admitted that the SOP meant for carrying explosives was not adhered to when the incident took place. He said the police will inspect various magazines where explosives are stored in the three mineral-rich police districts of Sundargarh, Rourkela and Keonjhar. 'We will ensure that the SOP is adhered to while storing and transporting explosives,' he added.

NEW DELHI: The three Pakistani terrorists who gunned down 26 civilians, including 25 tourists, in J&K's Pahalgam in front of their horror-struck families, were cornered and killed on Monday in a joint operation by the Army, CRPF and police in Dachigam area on the outskirts of Srinagar, home minister Amit Shah disclosed in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Participating in the debate on Operation Sindoor, Shah identified the three attackers killed in 'Operation Mahadev' as Suleman alias Faizal Jatt alias Anas alias Usama Markaz; Hamza Afghan; and Jibran, all Pakistanis and affiliated to the Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT). Suleman, a top-grade LeT commander and the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, was also involved in the Oct 2024 attack at the Z-Morh construction site in Gagangir, in which six labourers and a local doctor were killed, he said. Both Hamza and Jibran were also 'A-grade' LeT terrorists. The three were identified by family members of two locals arrested on June 22 by NIA - Parvaiz and Bashir. The duo had provided food and shelter to them at their 'dhok (seasonal hut)' some 2km from Baisaran prior to the attack. A source said they were paid around Rs 3,000 by the terrorists. Two of the three terrorists were carrying Pakistani voter IDs and the weapons - an M4 carbine and two AK-47s - and chocolates recovered from them further sealed the Pakistani link. Karate kid ‘nails' CRPF jawan who tried to assault her
Chennai: A class VIII student, trained in karate, was accosted by a CRPF jawan who tried to sexually assault her on a dark stretch. But she hit back, and her nails left deep abrasions on the attacker's face. Finally, a complaint from the girl's family to the Avadi all-women police station, under provisions of the Pocso Act, resulted in the jawan being remanded in judicial custody. A team of police personnel from the police station informed senior CRPF officials. Police said the girl was returning home a few days ago when she was targeted from behind by a stranger on a dark stretch. He tried to sexually assault the girl. Though shocked and frightened, the girl took after the fleeing suspect, and landed a few blows and scratches, leaving visible injuries on his face. She couldn't identify him since it was dark. After the girl told her parents about the incident, the parents lodged a complaint. The girl also told them that she had injured him on the face. Police, with the help of the identification provided, tracked down and identified the jawan. He was later arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

After the Pahalgam attack, Shah visited the attack site and a security review meeting was held on April 23 in which all the security forces were involved. It was decided that the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack should not flee to Pakistan. "We made arrangements for this and did not let them escape the country," he said. Shah said that on May 22, 2025, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) received information about the presence of terrorists in Dachigam area. He said continuous efforts were made by the IB and Army from May 22 to July 22 to confirm this information received through equipment made by the agencies to capture ultra signals (from Chinese apps) in Dachigam. "Our officers and jawans of IB, Army and CRPF kept moving on foot in the cold and high altitudes to receive signals. On July 22, we got success through sensors and the presence of terrorists was confirmed. The CRPF and J&K police personnel, under the leadership of 4 Para, surrounded the terrorists and all the three terrorists were killed," he said. Shah told the House that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had already arrested the people who had given shelter to these three terrorists. He said that when the bodies of these three terrorists were brought to Srinagar, four people identified them as Pahalgam attackers. The FSL report of the cartridges found at the Pahalgam attack site were matched with the three rifles recovered from the terrorists in Dachigam. The three rifles were transported to Chandigarh on Monday night by plane and empty shells were generated by firing. The shells found at the Pahalgam attack site were matched with the shells and it was confirmed these 3 rifles were used for the attack. LeT and its outfit TRF (now banned by US) took responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. "We had decided that NIA will investigate this attack. NIA has expertise as a globally recognised agency in scientifically investigating terrorist cases and bringing the culprits to justice. NIA's conviction rate is more than 96%," Shah said. Shah said 1,055 people were interrogated for more than 3,000 hours and on the basis of this information, the sketches of the terrorists were made. "We have all the evidence because Pakistani voter numbers of two of the three terrorists were available, rifles were also available, the chocolates found with them were also made in Pakistan," he said.
