Attempted carjacking in St. Paul leads to gunfire Thursday night
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers were called to an attempted carjacking in the 1400 block of Blair Avenue, according to Nikki Muehlhausen, a St. Paul police spokesperson.
When officers arrived on scene, the driver reported that three people, two of them armed, had attempted to steal their vehicle. One of the suspects reportedly fired two shots into the vehicle as they fled the scene. Nobody was injured.
The incident was detailed in Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher's 'Live on Patrol' Facebook page in a post called, 'Lucky to be alive!':
'A young man was dropping his college friends off in the 1400 block of Blair last night when three suspects approached him and demanded his vehicle. He refused and drove away only to hear two shots strike his car. One narrowly missed him. You can see the entrance hole on the back window and the exit hole in the center of the windshield. Too close. The three suspects fled west on foot.'

Westland man accused of sending threatening emails referencing Macomb County judge
A Westland, Michigan, man faces two charges after he allegedly sent emails with "threatening and offensive language" that referenced and were directed at a Macomb County Circuit Court judge, according to the Prosecutor's Office. Jacob Tolonen, 52, was arraigned on Thursday at the 39th District Court in Roseville, Michigan. He is charged with one count each of using a computer to commit a crime and unlawful posting of a message with aggravating circumstances, officials said. The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office says Tolonen allegedly sent the emails to the court reporter of Judge Jennifer M. Faunce around Jan. 24, 2025. The emails allegedly also included references to "family" and "Warren." According to the prosecutor's office, Judge Jennifer Faunce's sister, Suzanne Faunce, serves as a judge in Warren County, and their father, Sherman Faunce, was formerly a judge there. If convicted, Tolonen faces up to 12 years in prison. His bond is set at $500,000 cash or surety bond. A probable cause conference for Tolonen is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 8:30 a.m. "We take any threat against a judge with the utmost seriousness," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in a news release on Friday. "The safety of our judiciary is non-negotiable. No public servant should fear for their safety or the safety of their loved ones simply for doing their job."

Manhunt for man accused of killing 4 in Montana bar enters second day
A manhunt in Montana continued into its second day on Saturday, as federal and local law enforcement searched by land and air for the man they believe shot and killed four people at a small town bar before driving away in a pickup truck. A bartender and three patrons at the Owl Bar in Anaconda, in rural southwestern Montana, were killed at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, the Montana Department of Justice said. The suspect, who local authorities believe to be armed and dangerous, has been identified as Michael Paul Brown, 45. Officials said that Brown lives right next door to the Owl Bar.

Detroit police seek information about shooting that injured 2 kids on city's east side
The Detroit Police Department is looking for information about Thursday's shooting that injured two children on the city's east side. Officials say two trucks pulled up to a home on the 7000 block of Arcola Avenue around 6:20 a.m. Two people got out of the vehicles and shot into a home, injuring a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. Investigators are looking for a black 2021 Dodge Ram, which they say was stolen. The second truck used in the shooting, a 2022 Dodge Ram TRX, has since been recovered by police, officials said. Police have been searching for two people in connection with the incident, though descriptions of those people have not been released. Anyone who has information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's 11th Precinct at 313-596-1140, Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-773-2587 or leave an anonymous tip here.
