Agni crowdfunds his debut directorial Rudhirvana
Agni's transition from an IT professional to a filmmaker was a journey driven by passion, persistence, and a love for cinema. Once dabbling in YouTube, movie reviews, and short film experiments, Agni used his early digital presence as a foundation for his cinematic dreams. "I've always been passionate about storytelling," he says. "While working in the UK, I directed over 15 short films alongside my tech career. But everything changed when I entered a short film competition organised by Pawan Kumar." Agni is now excited to make his feature film debut with Rudhirvana.
"Some of my short films got me an internship on the film Dvitva. I left my job in Bournemouth and returned to India. Sadly, we lost Appu sir (Puneeth Rajkumar), and we couldn't move forward with the film, but by then, my heart was already set on filmmaking," Agni shares.
This commitment led Agni to work as an assistant director under Hemanth Rao on Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, and later with director KM Shashidhar on the Malayalam film Credit Score before embarking on his feature film journey.

Jasbir Jassi supports Diljit Dosanjh amid backlash over Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3: ‘Double standards'
Diljit Dosanjh and the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 continue to be at the receiving end of backlash over casting Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in their film. While many slammed the singer-actor amid the tensions between India and Pakistan, Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi came out in support of Diljit. Talking about the controversy over Hania in Sardaar Ji 3, Jasbir reacted to the 'double standards' of those against the film. Calling it 'unfair', he said many Indian films steal music from Pakistan. He feels it's unfair to target artists for cross-border collaborations when many Indian films 'use stolen Pakistani music'. During an interview with NDTV, Jasbir came forward to support Diljit amid the ongoing backlash. In an interview with NDTV, he said, 'I'm seeing how Diljit Dosanjh and his film are facing protests on social media because that film also stars a Pakistani artiste. I respect people's sentiments that we should love our country and that we should stand by our country. But why these double standards? If you don't want any Pakistani artists singing, acting or working in any Indian film, you want to ban them. But 80% of the songs of our industry have been stolen, be it their tunes or words or the entire songs. There are so many songs in our films that have been sung by the artists of that why these double standards?" 'Either get rid of all those songs from YouTube, Spotify and other digital platforms. But not like this, you take just one artist and start protesting against them. It's like someone came to your house with something to eat, and then you start calling them the enemy, but you keep eating the things or sweets they brought along with them. If you want to ban (Pakistani artists), ban them completely. Get all that content available in the world lifted,' he added. The film landed in controversy for casting Hania Aamir despite a blanket ban on Pakistani artists in the Indian film industry since the Pulwama attack. The ban intensified after this year's Pahalgam attack, followed by Operation Sindoor launched by India in response. Sardaar Ji 3 also stars Neeru Bajwa. The film will no longer be released in India. It will open overseas on June 27.

Who Is Jaskarn aka Jacky Jhaj? ‘British Paedophile' In Spotlight For ‘Marrying' 9-Year-Old
Last Updated: Jacky Jhaj has been charged with fraud, breach of trust, money laundering and identity theft. A British man has been arrested at Disneyland Paris for allegedly planning a fake wedding involving a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl. The man, identified as Jaskarn Jhaj, also known as Jacky Jhaj, was detained last weekend after an actor involved in the event tipped off police. French authorities revealed that the so-called 'mock wedding" was organised under the guise of a film shoot, with over 100 French extras reportedly involved. The event was set to take place within the theme park, which had been rented out for the production. Jhaj, 39, was later charged with fraud, breach of trust, money laundering and identity theft and placed in pretrial detention. Convicted Paedophile This is not the first time Jhaj has drawn serious attention. According to a report in the BBC, he is a convicted paedophile in the UK with a known criminal record related to child sexual offences. In 2016, Jhaj was convicted of sexual activity with two 15-year-old girls. Since then, he has been placed on the UK sex offenders register and has been under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He has also spent time in prison, but after his release, he continued to stage productions which involved children or young people. In 2023, he staged a fake film premiere in London's Leicester Square. For this, he hired hundreds of children from casting agencies, some of whom were as young as six. He wanted them to 'act like fans, scream his name and try to touch him." Many of the agencies reportedly had no idea about his criminal background. Teenage girls involved in the event told the BBC they were not informed who they were being asked to perform for. In another disturbing incident in June last year, Jhaj was spotted giving gifts to children outside a dance audition. A parent recognised him and raised the alarm. Two months later, he was filmed posing nude in front of a 'mocked-up" BBC News lorry that had been set on fire in public. YouTube Videos BBC also mentioned that Jhaj had uploaded videos of these staged events to a YouTube channel designed to look like an official performer's account. The channel reportedly had over 12 million subscribers and more than six million views. One of the videos, which was uploaded on a different channel, included secretly recorded footage of one of the 15-year-old girls he was convicted of sexually exploiting. Her family told the BBC that the video 'destroyed" her life and remained online for four years before it was taken down. Many such videos remained on his YouTube channel until last September, when Google, which owns the platform, took them down. BBC also gathered records from videographers, production assistants and technicians who worked on some of the events. It mentioned that the cost of hiring and venues 'has run into hundreds of thousands of pounds." Disneyland Paris 'Wedding" Production According to French media, the mock wedding was scheduled to take place at Disneyland Paris on Saturday. A 55-year-old actor, paid €12,000 (over Rs 12 lakh) to play the bride's father, became suspicious and alerted police on the morning of the shoot. Authorities say the nine-year-old Ukrainian girl had arrived in France two days before the event. She was not 'forced to play the role" of the bride. The French prosecutor stated that she had not been subjected to violence. Disneyland Paris had reportedly been booked under a fake Latvian ID. The park allows private rentals outside of normal operating hours and was unaware of the organiser's true identity. Officials now believe the cost of the mock wedding may have exceeded €130,000 (approximately Rs 1.3 crore). Wanted In The UK Following his arrest, the UK's Metropolitan Police confirmed that Jhaj is wanted in Britain 'for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a breach of a Sex Offenders' Register notification requirement." Authorities in the UK are now working with French officials on the case. Location : Delhi, India, India First Published: June 26, 2025, 10:03 IST News viral Who Is Jaskarn aka Jacky Jhaj?
