Stefanos Tsitsipas parts ways with tennis coach Goran Ivanisevic after brief stint
'Working with Goran Ivanisevic was brief but an intense experience and a truly valuable chapter in my journey,' the Greek star Tsitsipas wrote in a statement posted on Instagram. 'I'm thankful for the time, effort and energy he dedicated to me and my team.'
Tsitsipas, a two-time Grand Slam finalist who fell out of the top 20 in June, started working with 2001 Wimbledon champion Ivanisevic after his second-round loss at the French Open in late May.
Ivanisevic coached the 26-year-old Greek player at Halle and Wimbledon, where he retired due to a back injury during his opening match, trailing by two sets to love against Frenchman Valentin Royer.
'As we are now following our separate ways, I have only respect for Goran — not just for what he's achieved in tennis, but also for who he is as a person,' Tsitsipas said. 'I wish him nothing but the very best moving forward.'
Tsitsipas is next scheduled to play in Toronto from Sunday.

Per MLS rules, any player who doesn't participate in the All-Star Game without prior approval from the league is ineligible to compete in their club's next match. The players will miss Miami's home match Saturday against FC Cincinnati, which sits atop the Eastern Conference standings. As Inter Miami awaited the league's decision, both Messi and Alba practiced with the club on Friday in anticipation of playing in Saturday's match. 'I know Lionel Messi loves this league,' said MLS Commissioner Don Garber. 'I don't think there's a player — or anyone — who has done more for Major League Soccer than Messi. I fully understand, respect, and admire his commitment to Inter Miami, and I respect his decision. 'Unfortunately, we have a long-standing policy regarding participation in the All-Star Game, and we had to enforce it. It was a very difficult decision.' Garber added that the league will re-evaluate the policy and work with players to 'determine how the rule should evolve.' Michigan in discussions to kick off 2026 football season in Germany
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan is having discussions about kicking off the 2026 football season against Western Michigan in Germany. The school announced Friday on social media that it is seeking to play at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt on Aug. 29, 2026. It would be the first game the Wolverines would play outside of North America. Athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement this would be a 'first-of-its-kind opportunity' for the Wolverines and their fans. 'The University of Michigan is one of the few worldwide brands in college athletics and the interest in playing an international game would be unique,' Manuel said. 'This would be a great opportunity to teach 'Go Blue' to a new group of fans in Germany.' Home to Eintracht Frankfurt of Bundesliga, the stadium features a retractable roof with a capacity of 55,000. Deutsche Bank Park has hosted five NFL games, including two regular-season games in 2023. Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said they're always looking for unique opportunities for their players, noting the program has been to Italy, France and South Africa over the past decade. The game would require a rescheduling of Michigan's home opener that's currently set for Sept. 5.
