Where does Clemson football land in 2026 national recruiting rankings after busy month?

USA Today6 hours ago
Clemson remains in the top 10 in national recruiting rankings for the class of 2026 after a busy month of June.
Clemson football ended June with another busy month on the summer recruiting trail.
Dabo Swinney's program added five players in June and now have 20 hard commitments in the 2026 recruiting class. The latest came on June 28 in four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil from Clayton, North Carolina. Stancil is the 15th-ranked lineman in the class of 2026 and the 143rd ranked overall player, according to On3.
Clemson also added four-star EDGE Dre Quinn, who chose the Tigers over the Texas Longhorns, and two four-star offensive linemen in Leo Delaney and Carter Scruggs. Both rank as top 10 interior lineman by 247Sports and On3, while three-star EDGE JR Hardrick committed in early June.
Clemson had been ranked as high as No. 3 in recruiting by ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals in April, but that was before other marquee programs began to solidify their respective 2026 classes to balance the scales. The Tigers still have a strong 2026 class overall, with the potential to improve before the summer recruiting period ends on July 31.
Here's a look at where Clemson now lands in the experts' latest class of 2026 team recruiting rankings following another busy month on the recruiting trail.
Rankings updated as of noon ET on July 4.
247Sports' 2026 college football team recruiting rankings, updated
In 247Sports' overall team rankings, Clemson has fallen four spots from in the national recruiting rankings since May 14. That's nothing alarming, just a sign that other programs have picked up steam in the past month and a half.
On3, Rivals 2026 industry football team recruiting rankings
In On3/Rivals' industry rankings for 2026, Clemson had actually moved up one spot from its mid-May ranking before Michigan added four-star receiver Travis Johnson to its class on Friday.
ESPN updated 2026 college football recruiting class rankings
ESPN's updated 2026 recruiting rankings were unveiled on Thursday. The Tigers were at No. 4 on May 14. Recruiting analyst Craig Haubert listed Delaney, who committed on June 4, as the top offensive recruit in Clemson's 2026 class, with four-star safety Kentavion Anderson the Tigers' top defensive prospect. Anderson committed on May 15.
Haubert said of Clemson's recent pickups:
"With some new offensive weapons, the Tigers are making sure they have the time to get the ball downfield by loading up along the offensive line. Delaney, Carter Scruggs, Grant Wise, Adam Guthrie and Chancellor Barclay give the Tigers multiple ESPN 300 OLs to help reload a senior-heavy unit that is projected to lose multiple starters after 2025.
They could one day protect fellow four-star Tait Reynolds, a dual-threat QB out of Arizona who could push to be part of the long-term solution to replace Cade Klubnik. While the foundation of the class is on offense, Anderson is a key in-state pickup on the other side of the ball. With his frame (roughly 6-foot-2, 190 pounds) and range, he can be a versatile back-end defender for the Tigers."

Joey Chestnut reclaims title in Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest, wins 17th Mustard Belt

Defending champion in the women's division, Miki Sudo of Tampa, Florida, won her 11th title, downing 33 dogs, besting a dozen competitors. Last year, she ate a record 51 links. She also was apologetic for her performance. Advertisement 'I feel like I let the fans down a little bit. I heard people in the crowd saying, 'Go for 52,'' Sudo told ESPN. 'Obviously, I'm always setting my goals high, but the hot dogs weren't cooperating. For some reason, the buns felt larger today.' Many fans showed up to see Chestnut's much-awaited return to an event he has called 'a cherished tradition, a celebration of American culture, and a huge part of my life.' Joey Chestnut is cheered by his fans after winning the contest at the annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. VINCENT ALBAN/NYT Chestnut bested 14 fellow competitors from across the US and the world, including Australia, the Czech Republic, Ontario, England and Brazil. Last year's winner, Patrick Bertoletti of Chicago, came in second place after gobbling up 46 1/2 hot dogs and buns, falling short of the 58 he ate to earn the 2024 men's title. And love pushing myself and beating the heck out of people.' Last year, Major League Eating event organizer George Shea said Chestnut would not be participating in the contest due to a contract dispute. Chestnut had struck a deal with a competing brand, the plant-based meat company Impossible Foods. Chestnut told The Associated Press last month that he had never appeared in any commercials for the company's vegan hot dogs and that Nathan's is the only hot dog company he has worked with. But Chestnut acknowledged he 'should have made that more clear with Nathan's.' Last year, Chestnut ate 57 dogs — in only five minutes — in an exhibition with soldiers, at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He said that event was 'amazing' and that he was pleased to still have a chance to eat hot dogs — a lot of them — on July Fourth. 'I'm happy I did that, but I'm really happy to be back at Coney Island,' he said.

LSU football misses on top tight end target, losing to SEC rival

LSU football missed on one of its top tight end targets as four-star Brayden Fogle committed to Georgia on Friday. Fogle broke the news on social media. Fogle selected the Bulldogs out of a top three that also included the Tigers and Penn State. The four-star prospect took official visits to all three at the end of May and into June. On3's Industry Rankings rank Fogle as the No. 10 tight end in the 2026 cycle. 247Sports is the highest on Fogle, slotting him at No. 132 overall. Both outlets put him at No. 7 or higher of recruits in Ohio. With Fogle off the board, the Tigers are left with few quality tight-end targets left in the 2026 cycle. They likely need to put effort into flipping an already committed prospect if the position is still a priority. If LSU doesn't find luck at the high school level, the Tigers will make an aggressive push for transfer portal tight ends after the season. LSU's 2026 class ranks No. 6 in the nation and No. 3 in the SEC following Fogle's decision, according to On3's Industry Rankings.
