on Tuesday accepted the ceasefire plan proposed by
US President Donald Trump
to end the Asian rivals' military conflict, which began on June 13 with Israel's strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities.

Netanyahu said Israel fulfilled all of its objectives and warned there would be a "forceful" response to any violation of the truce.
"I reported to our security cabinet that Israel achieved all of our war goals in the operation, including removing the threat of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programmes. Israel also damaged Iran's military leadership and several government sites and achieved control over Tehran's skies," news agency AP quoted him as saying.
The acceptance by both sides of the deal came after Tehran launched a final onslaught of missiles targeting the Jewish State, killing at least four people early Tuesday morning, while Israel launched a blitz of airstrikes targeting sites across the Islamic Republic before dawn.
Meanwhile, writing over an hour after a deadline passed for Iran to halt its attacks, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: 'THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!'

According to Iranian state TV, the ceasefire went into effect at 7:30 am local time.
Earlier, in a dramatic escalation on Sunday, the US entered the conflict between its ally Israel and their common foe Iran, by bombing three key Iranian nuclear sites. Tehran retaliated by conducting missile strikes on an American air base in Qatar, the United States' largest such facility in the region.

Israel-Hamas war: Israeli forces shoot at hundreds of starving Palestinians waiting for food, aid; 25 dead

At least 25 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli forces in Gaza on Tuesday, 24 June, as hundreds were waiting for food and other aid material. The Israeli forces and drones hovering over shot at the 'starving' Palestinians on the Salah al-Din Road south of Wadi Gaza, killing at least 25 and injuring multiple people. As many as 146 Palestinians have been wounded in the firing. The wounded were taken to Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, where doctors were treating multiple injuries. Among them, 62 were in critical condition and were transferred to other hospitals in central Gaza, Al-Awda Hospital said. Some eyewitnesses to the shooting at the Gaza aid centre said that the drones were flying over the area where hundreds were waiting for food and other aid. Israeli forces opened fire as people were advancing eastward to be close to the approaching trucks. 'It was a massacre,' an eyewitness, Ahmed Halawa, said. He said tanks and drones fired at people, even as 'we were fleeing'. Many people were either martyred or wounded.' 'Stop Fighting Iran': How Netanyahu 'SUCCUMBED' To Trump Phone Call After Qatar Attack

/ Jun 24, 2025, 02:55PM IST A report by Axios says US President Donald Trump has been making efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Iran and Israel since the US military struck three nuclear facilities– Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan– in Iran on June 22. The report revealed that Iran had sent a message to the Trump administration via Qatar before it attacked an Al-Udeid airbase. Meanwhile, the US president refused to retaliate against the Iranian attack and instead sought negotiations for a truce. Trump also wants to resume nuclear talks with Tehran, the report adds.

Record renewable growth still falls short of COP28 goals, says REN21

A record 740 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity was added worldwide last year, still not enough to meet a global goal to triple renewable capacity by 2030, a report by the Paris-based thinktank REN21 showed on Tuesday. A target was set at the COP28 U.N. climate conference in 2023 to triple the amount of renewables such as wind and solar to keep a 1.5 degree Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit) warming limit this century within reach. Analysts tracking progress have said the world is not on course to triple capacity. The 1.5C limit also appears out of reach, they say. Trajectories show a shortfall of 6.2 terawatts towards the goal, which is more than all renewables deployed to date, the REN21 report showed. Solar photovoltaic accounted for 81% of new renewable power capacity last year as rooftop solar increased in developing countries and technology costs continued to fall. Solar PV is the only renewables technology on track to deliver its contribution to the global tripling capacity target. Last year and in early 2025 many countries rolled back or delayed climate change measures as the US withdrew from the Paris Agremeent and New Zealand reversed its ban on offshore oil and gas exploration. Oil and gas companies and banks have also scaled back investments in the energy transition. Trade measures, even before US President Donald Trump's tariff action this year, also limited renewable development in 2024 as the West protected its industries against cheap Chinese competition. "We are deploying renewables in record numbers, but we are not building the systems needed to transition to a renewables-based economy ," said Rana Adib, executive director of REN21. "Without coherent policies, coordinated planning, and resilient infrastructure including grids and storage, even record deployment cannot deliver speedy and lasting transformation," she added.
