Woman (48) weeps in court as she admits killing her partner
Olesja Hertova, of Hastings Lawn, Balbriggan, was before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Monday, where she was arraigned on the single count of unlawfully killing James Ryan.

She started crying when the charge was put to her, and she pleaded guilty to his manslaughter on August 11th, 2024, at Hastings Lawn.
Her barrister, Bernard Condon SC, explained to the court that the deceased was her husband, and he asked for the earliest sentence date available.
Judge Orla Crowe remanded her in custody for sentencing on July 3rd, 2025.

The grieving mother of a 22-year-old, who was gunned down by e-bike riders, says she died on the same day, as she issues a plea to help find his killers. Sam Rimmer was with friends on Lavrock Bank, Dingle, Liverpool, on August 16, 2022, when attackers rode by on e-bikes and fired shots at him and his friends. Sadly, Sam was shot in the back and died shortly afterwards in hospital. Since his death, ten people having been arrested but no charges have been placed. Now his mother, Joanne, has issued a desperate plea urging any witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward on the third anniversary of his death. Describing the years following his murder as 'painful' and 'traumatic', adding: 'The passing of time has not eased the pain.' 'People say to cherish the memories, but when I think of Sam, the memory I have is of his body in the morgue, staring at his chest willing him to breathe,' she said. 'No parent should ever have to identify their child's body.' 'Unless you have experienced the murder of your child, you cannot begin to understand the agonising, torturous mental and emotional horror we endure daily. The ache of my heart just to see my son again.' Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, said: 'Sam's death has had a devastating impact on his family, and in particular his mum, and they deserve to get justice. 'It has now been three years since Sam was tragically killed, but we are still determined as ever to find the person or people responsible. 'As part of our investigation we have made a number of arrests and received a lot of information from the public. We just need the final piece of the puzzle. 'We know that there are people out there who live in the Dingle/Toxteth area who know who is responsible and my appeal is for those people to come forward and tell us what they know. Murder charge after woman found dead in Newton Aycliffe
A woman has been charged with murder after a 56-year-old woman was stabbed to death. Durham Police were called to an address in Bakewell Place, Newton Aycliffe, on Wednesday at about 19:45 BST, by the North East Ambulance Hewitt, 41, has been charged with murder and has been remanded in custody.
