He returned in 2014 to make an appearance ahead of Sandra Oh's exit, which he credited to her persistence in a post on X on April 23

Isaiah Washington is praising former costar Sandra Oh.
The actor, 61, played Dr. Preston Burke, Oh's mentor and lover in the early seasons of Grey's Anatomy, before his firing from the show in 2007. Years later, he returned as part of her character Cristina Yang's exit, and he credited that brief appearance to Oh in a recent post on X.
'Sandra Oh was the key to getting me to come back in 2014,' he wrote on April 23. 'She refused to leave the show without my return and she won that battle. I love me some Sandra Oh!'

Washington even responded to a comment shading the long-running medical drama, which read: 'We love her also. The show went down, when the two of you left ♥️'
'Facts!' he replied.
PEOPLE reached out to representatives for Oh for comment.
During an appearance on Larry King Live in July 2007, Washington admitted that he was fired after three seasons on Grey's Anatomy for using a homophobic slur during an on-set spat with Patrick Dempsey. In the interview, he said the "f-word" was not intended to be anti-gay — he said, "I am not homophobic — in no way, shape or form' — but the public speculated that it was used in direct reference to costar T.R. Knight.
He repeated the slur backstage at the Golden Globes, although he continued to deny referring to Knight. He then issued another apology for using the word again.
"I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help," he said at the time.
Addressing Knight, who is gay, he added, "T.R.'s courage throughout this entire episode speaks to his tremendous character. I hold his talent, and T.R. as a person, in high esteem. I know a mere apology will not end this, and I intend to let my future actions prove my sincerity.'
Just last month, series creator Shonda Rhimes opened up about the controversy and how she thought it 'was going to kill the show.'
The scandal made the "bubble of joy" from the show's success in its two-year run "burst so early," Rhimes recalled in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in March.
"And it's funny, every Grey's actor I talk to who was there during that time is still traumatized by that incident," she revealed. "People still talk about it."
Grey's Anatomy is still going 20 years after it first aired. In April 2024, it became the longest-running primetime medical drama ever when it was renewed for a 21st season (and it will extend its historic run with a 22nd season, which was announced April 3.) Rhimes, 55, said the positives meant the incident "stopped mattering," but the sting of the scandal remains.
"I mean, that was the thing we thought was going to kill the show," she reiterated.

Elon Musk and Trump need a breakup lesson from Phoenix's Devin Booker

Did you hear about Book and Kendall breaking up, again? No? I mean, yeah, I know, I almost missed the news myself because there was all that other stuff about Elon and Donald, and their whole grody in-your-face split. Seriously, you're not getting that kind of drama llama from Devin Booker and Kendall Jenner. They're not going all 'Grey's Anatomy' in public or making a big public display or, you know, trashing one another online. Am I right? I mean, he's like a legit basketball star with the Phoenix Suns and she is this total, you know, supermodel, and come on, those kind of celebs know a little something about being classy or whatever. Donald Trump and Elon Musk, though? Woof. I mean, there was Elon saying on X that Donald's 'big beautiful bill' is an 'abomination,' which I think means, like, really terribad awful. Then Donald coming back and saying that 'Elon was 'wearing thin,' I asked him to leave … .' And Elon saying, 'Such an obvious lie. So sad.' And all that online, for reals, in a way that you'd never get from Book or Kendall because they're both brainiacs when it comes to keeping stuff on the down low, not sharing their business. So, we get the scizzle on the Book/Kendall situationship from the mags or TV or some obsessed googlebanger. Donald and Elon, though? Totally out there. Opinion: Elon Musk needs a new target: Arizona congressmen Like when Elon says online, 'Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!' And we're all, you know, gobsmacked. And then they ask Donald if he's talking to Elon and he says, 'You mean the man who has lost his mind?' And then he says, 'I'm not even thinking about Elon. He's got a problem, the poor guy's got a problem.' No wonder some of you didn't hear about Book and Kendall. All that noise! And him and her are not out there acting like a couple of nerd bombers throwing shade at each other all day and night, filling up the hatebook. You know? Book and Kendall could school Donald and Elon on how to be. They could drop some jewels on 'em about showmance. A master class in fameology. Because, you know, unlike the richest man in the world and the president of the United States, the ballplayer and the supermodel — they got class. Reach Montini at Like this column? Diddy's Ex-Girlfriend Testifies To Participating In 'Sleazy' Freak Offs, Crying During 18-Hour Session

More alleged details of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' personal life are exposed as witnesses testify regarding his romantic relationships and freak offs. On Thursday, (June 5), an ex-girlfriend of Combs, who is identified as 'Jane', testified that during their three-year relationship, a majority of intimate encounters involved other men. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the woman explained that her relationship with the Harlem native began with lush vacations and only the two of them in bed. As their relationship progressed, Jane claimed it started to involve drug use and escorts as Combs initiated the 'freak offs.' She also testified that 90% of their sexual encounters involved other men. 'I just thought that it was a night of fun; I didn't think that we'd be doing it again,' she explained. 'I just wanted to satisfy my partner.' In her testimony, she further detailed how she became trapped in the relationship due to Combs providing for her financially and informed the jury, 'I felt obligated to perform because my partner was paying my rent.' According to Rolling Stone, Jane Doe returned to the stand on Friday and continued to reflect on her account during her time with the 55-year-old. 'It's dark, sleazy, and makes me feel disgusted with myself,' she claimed to have told Combs in 2023 about not wanting to participate in the freak offs. 'I don't want to play this role anymore. I'm so much more than this,' and 'I feel like it's the only reason you have me around and pay for the house.' That same year, she alleged to have agreed to participate in a 'sober' party, despite Combs still using cocaine and ecstasy. During this freak off, Jane Doe claimed that she vomited, however, the Bad Boy Records founder dismissed her health concerns. 'Sean came in and I told him I had just thrown up,' she testified. 'And he was like, 'That's good, you'll feel better. Let's go, the third guy is here.'' TMZ reports that she also testified to crying during two freak offs, the first one being a surprise session when she thought she would have a one-on-one night with Combs. The session, she claims, lasted 18 hours and took place at the Waldorf Hotel in Beverly Hills early in their relationship. The second time she burst into tears was after a 'hotel night' while she was in the shower, high on drugs. Combs is charged with one count of racketeering conspiracy; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, and has pleaded not guilty. Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian warned the Grammy-winner that he could be removed from the courtroom for 'absolutely unacceptable' behavior after allegedly making facial expressions towards the jury. The trial is expected to last all of June and into July.
