Police looking for suspect in attempted Luzerne County robbery, chase
WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News has updates on an attempted robbery that led to a chase in Luzerne County. It happened Monday night, and police say one of the weapons used in the incident was nearly identical to that of a real firearm.
Wyoming Area Regional Police are actively searching for the driver of the vehicle they say was used in the chase Monday night.
Police say she and four boys approached another boy at Morris Park in West Pittston on Monday.
One of the weapons used very closely resembled that of a real firearm.
A Glock 19 styled BB gun, almost identical to that of the firearm Wyoming Area Regional Police Chief Turner carries, police say, was held to a boy's head and stomach in Morris Park in West Pittston Monday night.
'Very similar. Exactly, to be honest with you. Stamped with the serial number, imprinted with the Glock 19 on the slide. The only difference was the air cartridge in the magazine holder instead of a magazine,' Chief Turner explained.
According to police, two of the five people who approached the young boy had guns. The one that was seized by police was in the hands of a teenager.
One of them allegedly searched the victims' pockets and asked the value of the victims' belongings.

Police say that's when the boy took off on a bike and the chase began.
A young female was allegedly driving the SUV.
'I'm glad that the officer located the handgun before it went down the wrong road,' Chief Turner added.
Investigators also say at the park, a third man pulled out a knife.
After the suspects were captured by police, all five were taken into custody.
Police charged 19-year-old John Williams of Wyoming with aggravated assault, attempted robbery, and other related offenses.
'The playgrounds are there for the children to play. If you bring this nonsense and this, it's not going to be tolerated,' Chief Turner continued.
Police say the other three boys involved are juveniles.
Chief Turner says they will be petitioned, and he anticipates making more arrests.

Second arrest made in Hickory Hill gas station shooting
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A second arrest has been made in a Hickory Hill gas station shooting that left a man and a juvenile critically injured last month. Kevon Chapman, 18, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday. Chapman is charged with attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and possession of a firearm by a dangerous felon. ► ORIGINAL STORY: Two injured in Hickory Hill gas station shooting On May 29, Memphis Police say they responded to the Circle K gas station on 6193 Mount Moriah Road Extended regarding a shooting call. A male victim was found sitting in he driver's seat of a Corolla suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hand and face. A juvenile victim was later found after he ran from the Corolla during the shooting. Police say the male juvenile was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper left leg and abrasions to his face. They were both taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say one of the victims is still in the hospital in critical condition and unable to speak. They say he was shot in his lower jaw and that the bullet travelled into his neck with a bullet remaining near his carotid artery. Arrest made in gas station shooting that left 2 injured On June 2, during a follow-up, one of the victims told investigators that the other victim had picked him up, and they were at the Circle K gas station when an unknown man approached them. The unknown man is accused of talking to the victims and getting into the backseat of their car. That is when he allegedly showed the victims a black gun, demanding items from a blue duffle bag inside the vehicle. All three began fighting over the bag and the suspect's gun, as one of the victims drove out of the parking lot. At that time, the suspect shot at both victims multiple times before taking off on foot. The suspect, identified as Kevon Chapman, was positively identified in a six-person photographic display and taken into custody on June 11. Another suspect involved in this case, 21-year-old Tariq Robinson, was arrested on June 3. Kevon Chapman is due in court on Friday morning. His bond has yet to be set. Man, 74, hit and killed by car while crossing street in Queens: NYPD
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 74-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street in Queens on Wednesday, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened at 217th Street and Northern Boulevard in Bayside around 10 p.m. The victim was crossing Northern Boulevard when he was hit by a 2017 Chevy Tahoe, according to authorities.
