Police investigate double fatality in Sydney CBD
Police are investigating the incident and how the people came to fall.
'About 9.45am today, emergency services responded to reports that two people had fallen from the Western Distributor onto Harbour Street, Sydney,' NSW Police said in a statement.
'Both persons, a man and a woman believed to be aged in their 40s, died prior to the arrival of emergency services.
'Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.'
Two southbound lanes of the Harbour Bridge ridge have been closed.
Authorities also closed off Harbour Street in the Sydney CBD to southbound traffic.
Transport Management Centre has asked motorists to allow for extra time due to the incident.
'Southbound motorists should continue on the Western Distributor, before taking the Harris Street off-ramp, Harris Street, William Henry Street and Pier Street to access Harbour Street and the city's south,' the centre said.

NSW Police forced to fire at suspected stolen car
Police have launched an investigation after an officer fired their gun at a suspected stolen car on NSW's Mid North Coast on Saturday. Officers attempted to stop a Toyota Landcruiser, which was believed to be stolen, in West Kempsey at about 3am. They deployed road spikes but the vehicle drove at police, NSW Police said. Three teen girls have been arrested for a shocking alleged assault on another girl. NSW Police allege the girls, all aged 13, stripped and beat a 14-year-old girl in Claymore in Sydney's outer southwest on Friday night and recorded the incident. Tragedy as two die in fall from Sydney overpass
Two people are dead after falling from an overpass in the Sydney CBD. NSW Police began an investigation on Saturday after the man and woman fell from the Western Distributor onto Harbour Street at about 9.45am.
