List of 'prettiest' British seaside towns includes North Wales community with Med like waters
A list has been drawn up of the prettiest seaside towns in Britain. Time Out created the 21 strong table (full list below) with quite the choice given that Great Britain is a three nation island.
There were two places in Wales on the list with one in Gwynedd and the other in Ceredigion.
Time Out said: "If you're dreaming of finding sand in your shoes after a long day out and queuing too long for ice cream, then you could do a lot worse than venturing out of the city and planning a trip to one of the UK's seemingly endless coastal towns. This is an island nation, after all, which means it's packed with rugged cliffs and windswept headlands as well as quaint fishing villages and shoreline surf spots.
"We might not have the sunkissed weather of our European neighbours, but when it comes to costal charm, the UK ticks a hell of a lot of boxes. Planning a trip to the seaside? Check out our list of the best coastal towns in the country, from Scotland to Cornwall."
The North Wales selection that the cut was Nefyn on the Llyn Peninsula - with judges also including Morfa Nefyn and Porthdinllaen in their considerations. Its standout features were its "extreme isolation" and "surprisingly blue waters" - with this part of the country looking like the Med when the sun shines.

Time Out said: "The Llŷn Peninsula is where you go in Wales if you really want to get away from it all. But if you don't want to do away with human company altogether, we'd suggest staying in Nefyn: a small town and community that stretches out to nearby Edern and Morfa Nefyn.
"The main draw here is the Morfa beach – a sandy stretch complete with pretty pub and whitewashed cottages. The town itself is a brilliant base for hikers with their sights set on nearby Eryri (Snowdonia)." Sign up now for the latest news on the North Wales Live Whatsapp community
While the beach is stunning their top tip was a trek up to the Tre'r Ceiri hillfort, on Yr Eifl hills. It's one of the best-preserved Iron Age settlements in the UK.
The other Welsh seaside community among the top 21 was Aberaeron. They called it "foodie central, with a weird thing for honey".
On why to go there, Time Out said: "Three reasons: the buildings, the ice cream and the dolphins. Roughly halfway between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, on Wales's west coast, Aberaeron's harbourside is ringed with beautiful Georgian houses – like especially radiant gems on a fairly everyday necklace.

"The town is perhaps best known for its honey ice cream, the most delicious of which you'll find at restaurant The Hive, but it's also a prime spot for seafood and afternoon tea and cake – making it the ideal pitstop on your way up the Wales Coast Path."

Their most recent journey took them to what they described as the "head" of Wales in the north, Ynys Môn (Anglesey). In a video titled I Guess All Good Things Must Come To An End (Wales), the couple began their exploration with a visit to the village of Llanfairpwll. After snapping the obligatory photo next to the sign at Llanfairpwll, famous for its extraordinarily long name, the duo set off in pursuit of a lighthouse they had spotted on one of Leanne's Windows wallpapers. Departing from the car park at Newborough National Nature Reserve and Forest, Dan enthusiastically told viewers that they "must see" this lighthouse. We have the Snowdonia mountains in the background and this beautiful bay. It's so, so flat." As the pair drew closer, Dan noted that he'd noticed a number of noisy planes overhead. Yet in the comments section, someone highlighted the location's proximity to RAF Valley, the nearby Royal Air Force base. The spot looked as beautiful as the pictures, albeit with some more clouds He noticed signage warning that drone flying was prohibited in the vicinity, leaving him somewhat deflated as he showed some of the aerial photographs of the location that he'd found online. Dan remarked: "It's just absolutely beautiful. You can see on the one side, we have the sea and on the other side, we have the sea, too. And there's actually quite a few beaches that people come here to in order to swim, but yeah, we're not doing that." 'We found North Wales landmark from Windows background and were stunned when we arrived'
A travel-vlogging couple who've been exploring the sights on offer in Wales has opened up about an "absolutely beautiful" discovery in Ynys Môn. Leanne and Dan, a South African couple who've been documenting their travels for The Buddymoon YouTube channel, have explored the breadth of the country in their van, visiting everywhere from Cardiff to the picturesque Llŷn Peninsula. Most recently, they spent time exploring what they described as the "head" of Wales in the north, Ynys Môn (Anglesey). In the video, titled ' I Guess All Good Things Must Come To An End (Wales)', Leanne and Dan started off with a visit to the village of Llanfairpwll. Once they'd taken the obligatory photo of themselves next to the sign at Llanfairpwll, known for its incredibly long name, the couple set out in search of a lighthouse they discovered on a Windows background on Leanne's laptop. Setting out from the car park at Newborough National Nature Reserve and Forest, Dan excitedly declared to the viewers that you "must see" this lighthouse. He said: "We actually found it on Leanne's wallpaper on one of her Windows wallpapers on her laptop, and I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, where is that?' And little did we know it was in Wales." Dan said: "It's just absolutely beautiful. You can see on the one side, we have the sea and on the other side, we have the sea, too. And there's actually quite a few beaches that people come here to in order to swim, but yeah, we're not doing that." Once they arrived at the "impressive" lighthouse, the couple proceeded to examine the feature. Yet, it was the view that particularly impressed Leanne, who dubbed it "even better" and "so pretty". Haven said festive visits to Hafan y Mor, near Pwllheli, will be akin to a winter 'sleigh-cation' The decision to open Hafan y Mor for Christmas builds on last year's success when Haven opened five of its parks in England over the festive period. Last year, more than 30,000 guests enjoyed breaks by the sea with each park transformed into a 'magical winter wonderland'. Hafan y Mor is the first of the company's seven parks in Wales to open over Christmas and the New Year. Festive entertainment will be provided each day and evening, and all holiday homes will be decked out with their own pre-lit Christmas trees. Holidaymakers can get a full Christmas Day dinner with all the trimmings at Haven's on-site restaurants. Three-night festive breaks start from £135, with four-night Christmas Day breaks from £509. Prices for three-night New Year breaks start from £569, To publicise the move, holidaymakers at Hafan y Mor recently found themselves coming face-to-face with Santa. Commenting on his visit, Father Christmas said: 'Like the families visiting Haven this week, I'm enjoying a bit of a break before my big autumn rush. 'With hundreds of extra holiday homes to visit at Hafan y Mor this year, I want to make sure I know my way around. While they don't have chimneys, my elves have already been working out how we can get in undetected. 'I always rest on Boxing Day – but I'm definitely checking availability for a New Year break so I can relax in the pool while Mrs Claus enjoys the bingo.'
