One-match ban leaves England's Packer available for Women's Rugby World Cup opener
Stand-in captain Packer was sent off on Saturday during a 97-7 win over Spain in a World Cup warmup in Leicester.
In a ruck clearout, her shoulder targeted and bent the leg of fullback Claudia Pena.
Packer didn't accept it was a red card offense at her disciplinary hearing but the panel disagreed and considered the foul play reckless.
She will miss England's final warmup against France next Saturday.
England opens the World Cup against the United States on Aug. 22 in Sunderland.

Root's typically elegant straight-driven four off Siraj took him to 98 not out at tea, with the former England captain completing his 39th Test century following the interval, reaching the landmark in 137 balls, including 12 fours. The recalled Jacob Bethell lost his wicket when he charged down the pitch to Krishna only to be clean bowled for five as his middle stump went flying. Root then fell soon afterwards, when caught behind flicking at a Krishna delivery to leave England 337-6. England resumed Sunday on 50-1 after Siraj yorked Zak Crawley with the last ball of Saturday's play. Chelsea sign 19-year-old Netherlands defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax
Chelsea have completed the signing of Netherlands defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax in a deal worth a reported £37million. The 19-year-old, who has been capped six times by his country, has signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge. He becomes the Blues' eighth signing of the summer transfer window. 'I'm very excited, I'm so happy to be here,' Hato, who can operate in central defence or at left-back, told the Premier League club's website. 'I thought a lot about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career. Chelsea is the best place for me to do that so I'm very happy.' Hato joined Ajax's academy from hometown club Sparta Rotterdam in 2018 and signed his first professional contract aged 16 four years later. He scored four goals in 111 appearances for the Eredivisie giants, with his international debut coming as a substitute in a 6–0 win against Gibraltar in November 2023. Concern for Real Madrid as Arsenal transfer interest fades
Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Real Madrid are unlikely to be overly happy with the latest word stemming from the media surrounding the summer plans of Premier League outfit Arsenal. This further distances Rodrygo from the Emirates Stadium.' Should they truly intend to move Rodrygo on before the summer is out, Real Madrid will therefore need to look elsewhere for a buyer.
