Leagues Cup: Game times, TV, live stream, teams for MLS vs. Liga MX tournament
This is a modified tournament format from the one used during the last two summers that included every club from MLS and Liga MX. With 18 teams from MLS and 18 teams from Liga MX, at least 94% of the tournament (58 of the 62 possible matches) will feature an MLS club against a Liga MX club before the semifinals.
The MLS clubs participating in Leagues Cup were playoff teams last season, with the exception of expansion side San Diego FC, which is taking the place of the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Columbus Crew are the defending Leagues Cup champions, having won the 2024 tournament final over Los Angeles FC. Inter Miami won the 2023 edition of the tournament in Lionel Messi's first season with the team.

Where will Leagues Cup be broadcast?
All 62 Leagues Cup matches will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. FS1 will broadcast 14 matches. Univision, UniMás and TUDN will provide Spanish-language broadcasts of 16 Leagues Cup matches. You can watch Fox Sports and Univision on Fubo.

What are the 2025 Leagues Cup teams?

New format for 2025 Leagues Cup
This year, not every team from Major League Soccer will participate (the previous two editions had featured 47 teams). With an even number of teams from each league (18 apiece), it means that each "Phase One" match will feature direct MLS vs. Liga MX matchups. Despite playing against teams from the opposing league, MLS and Liga MX clubs will be in league-specific tables.
The top four clubs from each league-specific table advances to the knockout rounds. There are no draws, with games tied after regulation going straight to a penalty shootout.
The quarterfinal matchups will be determined by a team's place in the top four of their respective league's table: MLS 1 vs. Liga MX 4, MLS 2 vs. Liga MX 3, MLS 3 vs. Liga MX 2, MLS 4 vs. Liga MX 1).
Three Concacaf Champions Cup spots will be rewarded. The winner of the third-place match and the Leagues Cup finalists automatically will qualify for next year's Concacaf Champions Cup competition. The Leagues Cup champion will qualify directly to the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16.
The 12 MLS teams not competing in the 2025 Leagues Cup will have a break until Matchday 28 on Aug. 9.

Miami is 54-55, with four straight wins and 24-10 since June 22, after a wild 13-12 home comeback over the Yankees and then Saturday's 2-0 on Eury Perez's gem. Fish go for the sweep of NYY and can reach .500 today. As important, the Fish won this year's trade deadline with restraint. A year ago Miami led the majors in deadline deals as Peter Bendix went crazy in a prospects get. This time only two trades: OF Jesús Sánchez to Houston for starter Ryan Gusto and two prospects, and C Nick Fortes to Tampa Bay for outfielder Matthew Etzel. Gusto is a nice add, but the best deals were the ones not done: Keeping starters Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera despite a market for both. The statement: Marlins are all-in in chase for wild card playoff spot. 2. INTER MIAMI: Despite win, Messi injury clouds hopes of Leagues Cup advance: Inter Miami added midfielder Rodrigo de Paul as a de factor bodyguard for Lionel Messi, but that did not prevent Messi from incurring a thigh injury Saturday and leaving early in a win on penalty kicks over Nexaca in a Leagues Cup match in Fort Lauderdale. The injury is not believed serious but could jeopardize Messi 's availability Wednesday at home vs. Pumas in another Leagues Cup game. Miami is 2-0 in the MLS vs. Mexico tournament but even at 3-0 may be at risk of not advancing due to goal-differential. 3. HEAT: Bad week redefined: Theft scandal, Rozier still on roster: Miami reportedly declined a trade to get Marcus Smart from Washington in exchange for Terry Rozier. Extremely upset were Heat fans, many of whom would gladly trade Rozier for a used pair of Keds. Also this past week: The FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office began an investigation of merchandise theft of items including game-worn jerseys stolen from the Heat's uniform equipment room. NFL: Shannon Sharpe mess clouds Hall of Fame weekend: Chargers beat Lions 34-7 Thursday in earliest NFL preseason opener in 25 years to kick off what should-a been a feelgood weekend in Canton. But Shannon Sharpe's firing by ESPN following his paying big to settle a sexual-assault lawsuit hung over everything like a thundering cloud as his brother Sterling was one of four men inducted along with Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Antonio Gates. PS, a weak class, too. Gates merited Canton; the other three were dubious picks at best. (Better next year, as Class of '26 first-time eligibles include Drew Brees and Larry Fitzgerald.) 9. WNBA: Dumb Fans Alert! Arrest over sex-toy launch: A spectator who ought to be publicly named and shamed was arrested for throwing a sex toy onto thr court during a Golden State game in Atlanta. Since then, another sex toy was thrown onto the court during Golden State's game in Chicago. Said Sky center Elizabeth Williams: 'It's super disrespectful. I don't really get the point of it. It's really immature. Whoever is doing it needs to grow up.' 10. NASCAR: As Wallace ends drought, a nod to Wendell Scott: Bubba Wallace's third career win in the NASCAR Cup Series ended a 100-race winless drought for the second Black driver to win a race in the sport's main series. It invites a nod of respect for Wendell Scott, please? Scott in 1963 in Jacksonville became the first Black driver to win on NASCAR's main stage, despite racism at the time that saw him receive death threats, be poisoned once and often wrecked intentionally. He never received the trophy for the one race he won, his family finally was given it in 2021 -- 31 years after his death. Greg Cote's Poll Dance: What South Florida team will be next to win championship?
Which of South Florida's Big Six sports teams will be next to win a championship? The Panthers have won two Stanley Cups in a row, but what are the odds of three straight? The Heat last reigned in 2013 and the Marlins in 2003. The Hurricanes last ruled college football in 2001. The Dolphins are way due, having last won it all in 1973. Inter Miami in only its sixth year seeks its first title and has Lionel Messi now. We ran this same poll last August so let's call it an annual gauge. The results a year ago: Panthers 33%, Inter Miami 30%, Hurricanes 19%, Dolphins 13%, Heat 5% and Marlins 1%. One year later, now, if your money were riding on it who would you wager will be next to win its sport's biggest prize? This is not a favorite-team poll. Vote with head not heart. Personally, I'd put the Panthers and Inter Miami on the top tier with Canes football close. The Heat and Marlins (though hot lately) seem further off. The Dolphins, well ... they have the law of averages on their side, at least?! Your turn. Vote as many times as you like or until your fingers ache. And remember: Head, not heart. Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Newcastle: Son says emotional farewell in South Korea, Maddison suffers injury
Heung-min Son was given a guard of honor by both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United players as he played what is expected to be his final minutes as a Spurs player. An emotional Son, 33, announced on Saturday that he is set to leave Spurs this summer after a decade with the north London club. It has been widely reported that he will join LAFC in Major League Soccer. The friendly in Seoul, South Korea finished 1-1 on Sunday with Brennan Johnson's early goal putting Spurs ahead — he of course hit Son's signature celebration — but Newcastle equalized before the break through Harvey Barnes. However, Son's farewell game ended on a sour note as his close friend James Maddison was stretchered off the pitch late on as the Spurs playmaker looked to have suffered a serious injury. Son gets standing ovation, guard of honor in Seoul, South Korea In his native South Korea on Sunday, Son started Spurs' friendly against Newcastle and was substituted in the second half. When that happened the players from both Spurs and Newcastle gave him a guard of honor off the pitch while the entire stadium rose to its feet to applaud Son. He was then mobbed by players and coaching staff on the sidelines too as one of the most popular players in Premier League history, no matter who you support, received a fitting farewell as a Spurs player. Son's legendary status at Spurs is confirmed after he captained them to the UEFA Europa League trophy last season, their first trophy in 17 years and first European trophy in 41 years. He will leave Spurs having scored 173 goals and adding 101 assists in 452 games as he became a club legend and the model of consistency.
