Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 16 (ANI): The much-awaited teaser of 'The Raja Saab' was launched on Monday at a grand event in Hyderabad, attended by director Maruthi and other key members of the film production.
In a conversation with ANI, director Maruthi explained his vision and motive for casting the action star Prabhas for the horror comedy 'The Raja Saab'.
Prabhas, who has been busy with a series of action films over the past decade, will now be seen in a horror-comedy genre with the movie 'The Raja Saab'. This will give his fans a treat by showcasing his comedy skills.
The film marks the first collaboration between director Maruthi and Prabhas. While talking to ANI, Maruthi said, "This is my first time working with him (Prabhas). I wanted to show him as a vintage darling, and I did finally."
With Vintage Darling, the director appears to hint at Prabhas's romantic film 'Darling', which was released in 2010. He starred opposite Kajal Aggarwal. The movie was a blockbuster at the box office. It was also remade in the Kannada and Hindi languages.
In 'The Raja Saab' teaser, Prabhas appears to be a happy-go-lucky guy who falls in love with Nidhhi Agerwal. Calling his romance on par with Shah Rukh Khan, the 'Baahubali' actor tries to impress his love interest Nidhi Agerwal before the situation takes a downturn.
The teaser begins with a king calling a haveli his "body" and the wealth his "life." Prabhas appears to be terrified of the spirits, as he is seen chanting the god's name and running away from ghosts after he enters the haveli.
The teaser's grand visuals are one of its highlights. Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani are also expected to play prominent roles in the movie. Thaman's music is another impressive aspect of the teaser.
Earlier, the makers of Prabhas' starrer 'The Raja Saab' issued a warning to take "strict action" over the reported leak of the film's teaser ahead of its official launch.

Amid Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift row, Prabhas' The Raja Saab makers reveal director worked 16-18 hours every day

Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, is slated to hit the big screens on December 5, 2025. Ahead of the same, the makers have dropped the teaser with the makers revealing working hours. As the makers were interacting with India Today during The Raja Saab teaser event, they revealed that the director worked 16-18 hours every day for the high-quality output. The team said, 'It's already public how the film took two and a half years. The first difficult thing that we executed was that we had our big schedule post Kalki starting by the end of July-mid August to the end of December.' 'I don't know how Maruthi managed. He started at 6 am and ended at 11 pm, and continued this for more than 120 days,' producer TG Vishwa Prasad explained. Moreover, the filmmaker detailed that the movie is a grand cinematic venture, which is highly dramatic and has a 40-minute-long climax. The team also highlighted how the VFX required 300 days to achieve the desired quality. The Raja Saab features the tale of a young man who is eyeing an ancestral property. In the hope of flipping it and earning a huge fortune, the man enters a haunted mansion, changing his life forever. How he manages to escape from the predicament is showcased in the rest of the horror-comedy film. With the Rebel Star in the lead role, the movie has actors like Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, Samuthirakani, and many more. The flick, which was initially slated to release on April 10, 2025, had to be postponed its release due to pending work. Now, the film will be hitting the big screens in December this year. Coming to Prabhas' work front, the Kalki 2898 AD actor is currently involved in the works of his period venture, tentatively titled PrabhasHanu (Fauji). Furthermore, the Rebel Star will soon be joining hands with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the cop action drama Spirit. The film will feature the story of an angry young officer with Bollywood diva Triptii Dimri playing the co-lead.

Aruna Irani reveals why she was never close to cousin Bindu: ‘We kept our distance... they didn't like us asking for money'

Aruna Irani , one of Indian cinema's most prolific actresses with over 500 films to her credit, recently opened up about her distant relationship with cousin and fellow actress Bindu . In a recent interview, the veteran actress revealed how complicated family ties and financial struggles contributed to their lack of closeness. 'She is my step-massi's (aunt's) daughter,' Aruna explained. 'My maternal grandfather had two wives—one was my mother's mother, and the other was someone else. Bindu was from the second wife. We were never close as cousins,' she told Lehren Retro. Aruna on early financial struggles Sharing how financial strain created a divide, Aruna recalled, 'Her father was a director, Nanubhai Desai, and they always kept their distance. What used to happen was that we didn't have much money, so my mother would often borrow from Jyoti Maasi because she couldn't let her children go hungry, right?' The actress added that she was often sent to ask for small amounts of money, which didn't sit well with the other side of the family. 'Unse baar baar Rs 50 de do, Rs 30 de do aise karke mujhe bhejte the lene ke liye. Toh unko pasand nahi tha,' she said. 'There was nothing wrong in it, but it was like, 'Why do you keep asking for money all the time?' So a distance remained between us because we felt something unpleasant might come of it. ' Aruna Irani: Mehmood made my career and he was also responsible for my downfall No professional overlap kept the gap intact Aruna also noted that despite both finding success in the same industry, they never collaborated onscreen. 'After we both became actors, we never grew close because we never worked together. People would either cast her or me—so we never got the chance to meet.' Both Aruna Irani and Bindu became household names in Hindi cinema through the 70s and 80s—often playing strong character roles, comic parts, or vamps.

105 years of Hemant Kumar – Remembering a national icon of timeless music

New Delhi, June 16 (UNI) Marking 105 years of music legend Hemant Kumar, today marks the birth anniversary of an icon whose classic tunes – emblematic of Indian film music – continue to echo and inspire generations of aspiring musicians even today. Born on this day in Varanasi in 1920, Hemant Kumar's musical journey began in the 1940's. He made his debut as a singer in the Bengali film 'Rajkumarer Nirbbasanin' under composer SD Burman. He marked his entry into Hindi films with 'Meenakshi' (1942), followed by 'Irada' (1944), under composer Amar Nath. Trained in classical music and drawn to the great depth of Bengali literature, Kumar became a musician with a kind of range and versatility seldom witnessed. Possessing a classical tinged folk music merged with the experimental nature of Rabindra Sangeet, his music had a timbre and lyrical depth which was inspiring even to his colleagues such as the legendary composer SD Burman and later RD Burman. As a playback singer, his baritone conveyed emotion with restraint and dignity, becoming synonymous with iconic tracks like 'Na tum hamen jaano' from 'Baat Ek Raat Ki' (1962), 'Bekaraar karke humein' from 'Bees Saal Baad' (1962), and 'Ya dil ki suno' from 'Anupama' (1966). However, his role was not just limited to that of a singer, but also extended to being a composer, and music producer. Operating through Hemanta-Bela Productions, he introduced genre-defining films and composed scores crafted in rich detail and an engrossing atmosphere. As a music director and composer, Hemant Kumar brought a quiet strength to every score he touched, as displayed by his classic compositions for films like 'Nagin' (1954), and 'Khamoshi' (1969), using finely tuned arrangements that placed melody and ambience at the centre, as opposed to many of his peers who used grandeur and elegance instead. He often worked with famous lyricists like Kaifi Azmi and Gulzar, shaping songs that were poetic yet accessible. While his contributions to Hindi music are unquestionable, his influence in Bengali music cannot be overstated. As an active proponent of Rabindra Sangeet, his compositions played a crucial role in popularising Tagore's many unique works across not just West Bengal, but all of India, even becoming popular in states such as Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat, Punjab, Goa, Assam, Tripura, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, crossing all linguistic boundaries. He also collaborated with cultural figures like Satyajit Ray, Santosh Kumar Ghosh, Subhash Mukhopadhyay, and Salil Chowdhury, bridging the gap between cinema and literature through music. Even decades later, his influence can be traced in the works of contemporary musicians who favour mood-driven storytelling. A true national icon in every sense of the word, Hemant Kumar's legacy crossed every boundary, and to date continues to resonate with people all across India, due to the timeless nature of his music, which remains a defining chapter in the history of Indian music.
