'I wanted to show him as a vintage darling': Director Maruthi on casting Prabhas in The Raja Saab
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 16 (ANI): The much-awaited teaser of 'The Raja Saab' was launched on Monday at a grand event in Hyderabad, attended by director Maruthi and other key members of the film production.
In a conversation with ANI, director Maruthi explained his vision and motive for casting the action star Prabhas for the horror comedy 'The Raja Saab'.
Prabhas, who has been busy with a series of action films over the past decade, will now be seen in a horror-comedy genre with the movie 'The Raja Saab'. This will give his fans a treat by showcasing his comedy skills.
The film marks the first collaboration between director Maruthi and Prabhas. While talking to ANI, Maruthi said, "This is my first time working with him (Prabhas). I wanted to show him as a vintage darling, and I did finally."
With Vintage Darling, the director appears to hint at Prabhas's romantic film 'Darling', which was released in 2010. He starred opposite Kajal Aggarwal. The movie was a blockbuster at the box office. It was also remade in the Kannada and Hindi languages.
In 'The Raja Saab' teaser, Prabhas appears to be a happy-go-lucky guy who falls in love with Nidhhi Agerwal. Calling his romance on par with Shah Rukh Khan, the 'Baahubali' actor tries to impress his love interest Nidhi Agerwal before the situation takes a downturn.
The teaser begins with a king calling a haveli his "body" and the wealth his "life." Prabhas appears to be terrified of the spirits, as he is seen chanting the god's name and running away from ghosts after he enters the haveli.
The teaser's grand visuals are one of its highlights. Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani are also expected to play prominent roles in the movie. Thaman's music is another impressive aspect of the teaser.
Earlier, the makers of Prabhas' starrer 'The Raja Saab' issued a warning to take "strict action" over the reported leak of the film's teaser ahead of its official launch.

How he manages to escape from the predicament is showcased in the rest of the horror-comedy film. With the Rebel Star in the lead role, the movie has actors like Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, Samuthirakani, and many more. The flick, which was initially slated to release on April 10, 2025, had to be postponed its release due to pending work. Now, the film will be hitting the big screens in December this year. Coming to Prabhas' work front, the Kalki 2898 AD actor is currently involved in the works of his period venture, tentatively titled PrabhasHanu (Fauji). Furthermore, the Rebel Star will soon be joining hands with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the cop action drama Spirit. The film will feature the story of an angry young officer with Bollywood diva Triptii Dimri playing the co-lead.

New Delhi, June 16 (UNI) Marking 105 years of music legend Hemant Kumar, today marks the birth anniversary of an icon whose classic tunes – emblematic of Indian film music – continue to echo and inspire generations of aspiring musicians even today. Born on this day in Varanasi in 1920, Hemant Kumar's musical journey began in the 1940's. He made his debut as a singer in the Bengali film 'Rajkumarer Nirbbasanin' under composer SD Burman. He marked his entry into Hindi films with 'Meenakshi' (1942), followed by 'Irada' (1944), under composer Amar Nath. Trained in classical music and drawn to the great depth of Bengali literature, Kumar became a musician with a kind of range and versatility seldom witnessed. Possessing a classical tinged folk music merged with the experimental nature of Rabindra Sangeet, his music had a timbre and lyrical depth which was inspiring even to his colleagues such as the legendary composer SD Burman and later RD Burman. As a playback singer, his baritone conveyed emotion with restraint and dignity, becoming synonymous with iconic tracks like 'Na tum hamen jaano' from 'Baat Ek Raat Ki' (1962), 'Bekaraar karke humein' from 'Bees Saal Baad' (1962), and 'Ya dil ki suno' from 'Anupama' (1966).
