– 24 April 2025 – As climate change intensifies and sustainable practices become a global priority, businesses are increasingly called upon to address environmental challenges. Vingroup, a diversified conglomerate led by its Chairman – Vietnamese billionaire Phạm Nhật Vượng, has embraced this responsibility by developing a green ecosystem in Vietnam. This comprehensive approach integrates sustainable transportation, eco-friendly urban developments, and environmental initiatives, positioning the group to contribute meaningfully to both economic progress and environmental conservation.

Central to this ecosystem are efforts like VinFast's electric vehicles, Vinhomes' green urban projects, and Vinpearl's sustainable tourism practices. These initiatives demonstrate how a corporate strategy can align operational priorities with sustainability goals, aiming to lower greenhouse gas emissions, conserve resources, and promote environmentally friendly living.
Driving Sustainable Transportation, One EV At A Time
A key component of Vingroup's green ecosystem is its emphasis on sustainable transportation, driven by VinFast. Focused on producing electric vehicles, including cars, scooters, buses, and bicycles, VinFast plays a vital role in reducing carbon emissions while aligning with global clean mobility trends.
In Q4 2024, the car company posted record-breaking sales in Vietnam, securing its position as the leading player in the domestic market. This milestone highlights a significant consumer shift toward sustainable transportation and reinforces VinFast's expanding role in addressing this growing demand.
In addition to VinFast's contributions, initiatives like Xanh SM and V-GREEN expand the ecosystem's impact. These programs promote electric ride-hailing services and invest in charging infrastructure, making sustainable transportation more accessible. By addressing urban mobility challenges and reducing air pollution, they form part of a broader strategy to integrate sustainability into urban planning.
Creating Sustainable Urban Spaces
Vingroup extends its environmental commitment to urban living through Vinhomes. These residential projects emphasize green spaces, renewable energy, and energy-efficient infrastructure. Certified green buildings within Vinhomes developments contribute to reduced energy consumption and align with international standards for sustainable urban development.
Vinhomes also encourages environmentally conscious practices among residents. Incentives such as vouchers for electric cars and scooters have led to increased adoption of clean transportation within these communities. Public spaces are designed to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, reinforcing a culture of sustainable urban living.
Vingroup's sustainability efforts further extend to Vinpearl, its tourism and hospitality division. Resorts and hotels under the Vinpearl brand incorporate waste reduction, water conservation, and biodiversity protection measures. Initiatives such as rainwater collection systems and closed-loop wastewater treatment highlight how tourism can operate responsibly while minimizing environmental impacts.
Supporting Broader Environmental Goals
Beyond its business operations, Vingroup advances environmental conservation through the Green Future Fund. This initiative supports renewable energy research, reforestation programs, and community engagement efforts. Activities like tree planting campaigns enhance ecosystems and promote greater awareness of sustainability.
Chairman Phạm Nhật Vượng's vision for a cohesive green ecosystem exemplifies how established businesses like Vingroup can balance economic development with environmental responsibility. By prioritizing sustainable transportation, eco-friendly urban living, and conservation, Vingroup aligns its operations with global initiatives to tackle climate challenges and promote sustainable development.

Vietnamese Beauty Queen Arrested for Promoting Fake Fiber Supplement

Vietnamese authorities have arrested social media influencer and former beauty queen Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien on charges of consumer fraud, after she promoted a dietary supplement that was later found to be counterfeit. Ms. Nguyen, who won the Miss Grand International pageant in 2021 and has since become a prominent figure in Vietnam's entertainment industry, had heavily endorsed Kera Supergreens Gummies on her social media platforms. The product was advertised as being high in dietary fiber, with claims that each gummy contained as much fiber as a plate of vegetables. However, public concern erupted after independent testing revealed that each gummy contained only 16mg of fiber — a fraction of the 200mg promised. Authorities launched an investigation, which determined that the gummies were manufactured with substandard, low-fiber ingredients. The product's packaging failed to disclose accurate nutritional information and omitted warnings about high levels of sorbitol, a sugar alcohol commonly used in laxatives. Ms. Nguyen had promoted the product alongside influencers Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc, who co-founded the company behind the gummies. Investigators confirmed that the product was a joint venture involving all three influencers. In March, the trio were fined and issued public apologies. In April, authorities arrested Pham, Hang, and several company executives involved in the gummies' production, charging them with producing counterfeit goods and defrauding consumers. Ms. Nguyen's arrest was announced this week on similar charges of deception and consumer fraud. Over 100,000 boxes of Kera Supergreens Gummies were reportedly sold before sales were suspended following the scandal. Before her fall from grace, Ms. Nguyen enjoyed widespread popularity, appeared on numerous reality shows, and received accolades from both the Vietnamese prime minister and the ruling Communist Party. The case has ignited a nationwide debate about influencer responsibility, product regulation, and the need for stricter oversight in the digital marketing space.

Vingroup and the Rise of the ESG Ecosystem

Vingroup is positioning itself to lead Vietnam's ESG push, using its broad business network to drive sustainable growth at home and abroad, while eyeing partnerships in the Middle East's expanding sustainability sector. HANOI, VIETNAM – Media OutReach Newswire – 7 May 2025 – In one of Vietnam's crowded conference halls this month, corporate leaders gathered to debate the importance of ESG in business. One idea gained particular attention, even though it seemed obvious: no single company can tackle environmental and social challenges alone. It is necessary to build an ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) ecosystem, an interconnected network of businesses, investors, and regulators. Among the Vietnamese companies seen as capable of leading this effort is Vingroup, a giant with a footprint spanning transportation, healthcare, real estate, and education. Vinhomes Ocean Park 1 urban area, part of the Vingroup ecosystem. The shift toward ecosystem thinking has been happening around the world for years. Governments are tightening disclosure rules. In Europe, new regulations now require businesses to track ESG performance across their entire supply chains. In the Middle East, despite a long reliance on oil wealth, new initiatives are emerging to support sustainability, including large-scale urban construction projects. Countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are launching ambitious efforts such as NEOM and Masdar City, which are planned communities centered around clean energy, smart mobility, and sustainable living. The trend is clear. Companies are positioning themselves to lead the next phase of global commerce by embedding ESG principles into every aspect of their operations. For Vingroup, ESG is not simply a new box to tick. It has already become an integral part of their business model. Their EV arm, VinFast, moved aggressively into electric mobility, ending production of gasoline-powered vehicles in 2022. Last year, VinFast delivered more than 97,000 electric cars, representing an increase of approximately 192 percent compared to 2023. Although this figure may seem modest compared to established global giants, it made VinFast the top-selling car brand in Vietnam. These vehicles are helping to cut tens of thousands of tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Electric public buses, operated by VinBus, offering commuters a clean alternative to diesel-powered transport. Vinhomes, Vingroup's real estate arm, has integrated solar panels, smart water systems, and green parks into its large-scale developments. VinUni, Vingroup's university in Hanoi, has established a Center for Environmental Intelligence to focus on real-world applications of sustainability research. Meanwhile, Vietnam's small- and medium-sized businesses, which account for about 97 percent of the country's enterprises, are still finding their footing in ESG adoption. Many businesses remain unclear about how to begin. Sixty percent lacked information on where to register for support, according to Mr. Mạc Quốc Anh, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Hanoi Small and Medium Enterprises Association. Without larger players stepping up, the gap between companies embracing ESG and those left behind will only widen. With its scale and expertise, Vingroup is in a strong position to anchor a broader movement and help smaller companies align with global standards. Beyond Vietnam, new opportunities are emerging in regions that were once considered unlikely markets. The Middle East is undergoing a profound economic and environmental transformation. Driven by national visions such as Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the UAE's Net Zero 2050 strategy, Middle Eastern governments are investing heavily in green mobility, smart infrastructure, and renewable energy. Entire cities, industrial hubs, and tourism complexes are being designed with sustainability as a core principle. For a company like Vingroup, the alignment is natural. Its experience in creating interconnected and sustainable businesses matches the region's demand for credible, fully integrated partners. Cooperation could take many forms, including electric vehicles on desert highways, smart residential hubs powered by renewable energy, green hospitals, or financial models that reward environmental stewardship. While the specifics may vary, the central idea remains the same: combining strengths to create long-term value. As public awareness grows and regulatory pressures intensify, Vietnam's corporate sector is moving from fragmented ESG efforts toward a more unified approachWith companies like Vingroup leading the way, Vietnam is actively shaping what sustainable development will look like, both at home and on the global stage.
