Ben Affleck Remembers Working with Kevin Costner Alongside BFF Matt Damon on 'Field of Dreams' — but He's Not Sure Costner Does
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon appeared as extras in 1989's , and star Kevin Costner has said he remembers meeting them on set
But in a April 24 appearance on , Affleck said he thinks Costner was "being kind" because he and Damon were "not memorable."
Affleck reminisced about his time on set, including seeing Costner's baseball skills in action
Ben Affleck remembers filming Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner — but he's not sure Costner actually remembers him.
Affleck, 52, and his best friend Matt Damon appear as extras in the 1989 film during scenes shot at Boston's Fenway Park. At the time, the two were aspiring actors, thrilled to be on the movie set.
On a May 2024 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Costner said he did remember meeting the besties while filming the movie. 'They were sitting in the stands, like college guys. And they would both lean in at the same time, lean back at the same time, look at each other at the same time,' he said.
Costner, 70, said he also remembered speaking to the extras in between scenes. 'We talked and they had this big enthusiasm,' he said of the young actors. 'They were on fire.'
But when Affleck appeared on Kimmel on April 24, he told the host he was pretty sure Costner wasn't totally telling the truth. "Kevin is being kind saying he remembers us, because we were not memorable," Affleck said. "We were, like, just annoying — you know what I mean? — and there were a lot of people there. It's sweet of him to say that, but I'm pretty sure he remembers, like, the actors with lines."
As for their appearance in the film, Affleck said of himself and Damon, 54, "We were, you know, serious actors from a very young age, and so, we got to know the local casting person in Boston, who would cast when a movie came to town. Like Field of Dreams, you know, they needed extras, and so we would go do extra work, because we wanted to be actors."
Affleck said they were both awed seeing Costner. "It was, like, seeing, you know, God. Him and James Earl Jones," Affleck said of Costner's costar in the film. The movie also starred Amy Madigan, Gaby Hoffmann, Ray Liotta and Burt Lancaster.

"We went and it was like two days in Fenway Park,' Affleck remembered. He also remembered at the time that he felt that actor could be 'fraudulent,' but then he saw Costner — who had also starred in the classic 1988 baseball romcom Bull Durham — take batting practice.
"And I will say, he banged a bunch of balls off the Green Monster," Affleck said of Fenway's famous left field wall. "Hit a ball out of the park."

He also joked that years later, he read an interview in which Damon mentioned taking batting practice at Fenway and hitting the balls off the Green Monster. 'I was like, 'Matt, are you remembering yourself as Kevin Costner?' " Affleck said with a laugh.
Field of Dreams was Affleck and Damon's first movie together, but there have been 13 more since, including their 1997 Oscar-winning breakout Good Will Hunting and, more recently, movies like The Last Duel, Air and their upcoming movie Animals.

Costner spoke to PEOPLE in 2024 about his Field of Dreams encounter with Affleck and Damon.
'Somehow they sidled up right next to me,' he said. 'I was talking to them, and it was just clear that their eyes were wide open about what they wanted to do, and look what they've done with their careers. Amazing.'

She Thought She Was Talking to a Famous 'Yellowstone' Actor — But It Was a $62K Scam
She Thought She Was Talking to a Famous 'Yellowstone' Actor — But It Was a $62K Scam originally appeared on Parade. A woman from Evanston, Ill., reportedly lost $62,000 after a con artist used the likeness of Yellowstone star Kevin Costner's name and image. According to Chicago's WGN 9, the woman spent six months communicating with someone she believed was Costner via the messaging app Telegram. The impersonator convinced her that she was making an investment, claiming that sending gift cards would be converted into cryptocurrency and eventually returned to her with profit. But that payday never came. Instead, she was left empty-handed, with the Evanston Police Department confirming she'd been targeted by a longtime cryptocurrency scam ring that has been active since at least 2018. "Due to the nature of the crime, an arrest is highly unlikely," police told local news, noting that even recovering the stolen funds could be a long shot. The woman has reportedly been advised to contact her credit card companies, but so far, she has not gotten any of her money back. Costner isn't the only celebrity name being used in these elaborate catfish schemes. Earlier this year, a woman in Texas was scammed out of $18,000 by someone pretending to be country star in a romance-based con. In 2024, a Vince Gill superfan lost her life savings and retirement to a similar online hoax — a scam so emotionally and financially destructive that it fractured her relationships with friends and family. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), when a celebrity contacts you on social media and asks for money, there are certain steps one should take: Slow down. Before you send money, talk with someone you trust. Do some research: search online for the celebrity's name plus 'scam.' Do the same with any charity or cause they're asking you to support—and learn more about charity scams here. Never send money, gift cards or prepaid debit cards to someone you don't know or haven't met – even celebrities you meet on social media. If you sent money to a scammer, contact the company you used to send the money (your bank, wire transfer service, gift card company, or prepaid debit card company). Tell them the transaction was a fraud. Ask the company to reverse the transaction, if it's possible. Report your experience to the social media site and to the FTC. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's Former Marital Home Sells for $11 Million — See Inside!
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's former Brentwood home has sold for $10.8 million after one on the market. Garner purchased the home in 2004, before her marriage to Affleck who moved in in 2005. She sold it in 2009. The mansion has also been home to Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber and was used in the filming of 'Home Again' starring Reese WitherspoonBen Affleck and Jennifer Garner's former L.A. home came back on the market last week — and has already found a new buyer. The Brentwood mansion sold for 10.8 million, significantly more than its asking price of $9.5 million, after receiving multiple offers from the day it was listed. The 13 Going on 30 actress, 53, purchased the home in 2004 for $5.5 million, before being joined by Affleck, 52, in 2005 following their marriage, according to Mansion Global. In 2009, Garner put the house on the market. Affleck and Garner, who share children Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel, 13, announced their split in June 2015 after ten years of marriage. The 4,151-square-foot, four bedroom, five bathroom Montecito-inspired home is arranged around a charming courtyard. It was built in 1929 and sits on about three-quarters of an acre in the celeb-favorite enclave. Affleck and Garner weren't the first stars to call this place home. Cindy Crawford once lived in the property with her husband Rande Gerber. The house also has an screen credit of its own: It was used in the 2017 romcom Home Again starring Reese Witherspoon. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The property includes a gated driveway with tall hedges for privacy. The entrance is accessed via a stone pathway and manicured garden surrounding a fountain. The main spaces feature original tile floors and steal casement-style windows. The living room includes a wood-burning fireplace and a high, beamed ceiling. It opens up onto a lush backyard complete with a pool and outdoor entertaining space with another fireplace. Affleck and Garner first met on the set of Pearl Harbor, but their relationship did not begin until four years later. They starred in 2003's Daredevil together and became close friends. By the summer of 2004, their friendship had turned romantic and they wed in June 2005. They decided to go their separate ways in 2015, finalizing their divorce in 2018. In the years since, the exes and co-parents have continued to speak highly of one another. "She's just a fabulous person," Affleck said of Garner in 2016. "She's a great mother. She's a real talent … She's somebody that I admire and respect and remain excellent friends with." Affleck went on to marry Jennifer Lopez in 2022, but the singer filed for divorce in 2024. Garner is currently in a relationship with CEO boyfriend John Miller since 2018. Garner opened the doors to her current Los Angeles home to Architectural Digest in 2024. 'I'm such a private person about my home and here I've just taken you through the entire house. And really, it's for a couple of reasons,' she explains in the video tour. 'I've never built anything all by myself before and I'm so proud of it. I am filled with gratitude every time I walk into my house. That I get to live here, that I'm so lucky to have my kids here,' she says, Garner adds that it's 'unlike me' to share something that's so personal to her and her family, but she's 'happy' she did, as she's proud of the work she put into it. After moving out of the home he shared with Lopez, Affleck acquired a new place of his own in 2024. The $20.5 million, five-bedroom Los Angeles estate has a 'sense of privacy and seclusion' and is 'not trendy,' a source told PEOPLE shortly after he made the purchase. Affleck and Lopez's shared Beverly Hills mansion remains on the market with an asking price of $60 million following an $8 million price cut, a year after they listed it. The couple initially shopped the 38,000-square-foot house off market in June 2024, before publicly listing it in July. Read the original article on People

Ben Affleck action thriller 'The Accountant 2' is Prime Video's newest No. 1 movie — and fans rate it 92% on Rotten Tomatoes
Prime Video surprised us with an extra dose of action just a few days ago, as 'The Accountant 2' came to the Amazon streaming service on June 5, just six weeks after its theatrical release. Clearly, 'The Accountant 2' was exactly what Prime Video subscribers were waiting for, though, as the movie immediately became a hit for the streamer. The high-octane sequel went straight to No. 1 on Prime Video's top 10 list, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast. Viewers who've already checked the thriller out are full of praise, too; 'The Accountant 2' has bagged a 92% rating from moviegoers on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience consensus reading: '[Stars Ben] Affleck and [Jon] Bernthal make for compelling leads in 'The Accountant 2,' a violence-packed sequel that accrues enough humor and heart you can take to the bank.' Not yet seen 'The Accountant 2,' and trying to decide whether to add it to your watchlist? Here's a little more info about the sequel, and a quick round-up of critical opinion to help you decide whether to stream 'The Accountant 2' on Prime Video. Gavin O'Connor's 'The Accountant 2' reunites us with Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), a man with a talent for, as Amazon puts it, 'solving complex problems.' The film sees one of Wolff's acquaintances being murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to 'find the accountant,' and Wolff feels compelled to get to the bottom of things at once. When he realizes this particular case might require more extreme methods, he reaches out to his estranged (and highly lethal) brother, Braxton (Jon Bernthal). Working with the U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, and the pair end up putting themselves in the crosshairs of some foes who'll stop at nothing to ensure that their secrets remain undiscovered. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In addition to Affleck, Bernthal, and Addai-Robinson, 'The Accountant 2' also stars Daniella Pineda and Allison Robertson. As we mentioned, 'The Accountant 2' has been a big hit with moviegoers, especially, though it's performed reasonably well with critics, too. On Rotten Tomatoes, 'The Accountant 2' currently holds a 76% critics score (from more than 200 registered reviews), though that's not quite as high as that 92% score on the Popcornmeter we've already flagged. As an example of what reviews had to say, Empire, critic Kim Newman rated the movie 3/5, writing: "Affleck and Bernthal make a funny, if morally dubious, double act, as Christian's autism lets sociopathic hit man Brax think of himself as the 'normal' brother. Best bit: the line-dancing scene." The Guardian's Adrian Horton offered a similar 2-star verdict when she reviewed the movie at SXSW earlier this year, calling it a "decent enough fan service follow-up", adding: "This is a movie of cinematic adrenaline and ludicrous setups — ironically for its hero, stupid pleasures, but the fun kind of stupid, the kind that draws loud cheers from a crowd at a SXSW premiere and gets people streaming on the couch." And, reviewing at Variety, Owen Gleiberman called "The Accountant 2" "one of the only thrillers I've seen you could characterize as a hangout movie," writing: "This franchise had nowhere to go but up. And that, I'm pleased to say, is exactly what happened. "The Accountant 2" is an agreeably loopy hyperviolent good time." Personally, I left "The Accountant 2" feeling similar to how I did after streaming "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" on Netflix earlier this year. Both are solid action movies that thrive thanks to decent on-screen thrills and a fun bro-chemistry between the two leads. Christian and Braxton make for an entertaining pair to go along for the ride with, and the flick packs in a surprising amount of laughs throughout. If you're after a decent action thriller to liven up your next movie night, I'd suggest you stream "The Accountant 2" on Prime Video. Not sold on the new Prime Video release?
