Giants QB Jameis Winston goes viral for whacky warm up before Patriots game
Jameis Winston sent NFL fans into hysterics on Thursday night as he performed an unconventional pregame routine. Winston and the Giants were preparing to face the Patriots in their final preseason game at MetLife Stadium when the veteran quarterback was captured by doing a wacky warmup on the field. The passer practiced his throwing motion while swinging a towel in his hand as he traveled the length of the endzone. And fans had a range of humorous reactions to the moment, which was posted by the NFL's official X account. 'Funniest guy in the NFL,' one wrote. 'Here he go with the shenanigans,' another said with laughing-crying emojis. no context Jameis Watch NEvsNYG— 8pm ET on Prime Video Also streaming on @NFLPlus — NFL (@NFL) August 21, 2025 'Me when a fly gets in the house and my Yorkie goes nuts,' a third cracked. And a fourth said: 'Some nights you watch football, some nights football watches Jameis.' The video has garnered over 174k views on X at the time of writing. The whimsical Winston, who has become known for his epic pregame speeches in the past, has become a locker room favorite in New York after the team signed him this offseason. However, there's been suggestions that the Giants could elect to trade him amid rookie Jaxson Dart's impressive preseason, which could see him overtake Winston as the team's No. 2 passer behind Russell Wilson. However, assistant GM Brandon Brown recently made it clear that the team had no intentions of moving the veteran. 'I appreciate people that are interested, but Jameis is a New York Giant,' Brown told reporters this week. 'With the way that he's gone about his business from day one, he's made it very intentional with the fact that he wants to be here and he wants to be here for the long haul.' Dart got the start against the Patriots on Thursday night, exiting with 81 passing yards and a touchdowns before Winston added a score in the first quarter as well. Winston found Jalin Hyatt for a 27-yard touchdown along the sideline to give the Giants a 14-0 lead at the time. The Giants open their regular season at the Commanders on September 7.

Jerry Jones claims Micah Parsons' agent told the Dallas Cowboys to 'stick contract up our a**'
Jerry Jones has claimed Micah Parsons' agent told the Dallas Cowboys to 'stick our contract up our a**' as their feud turned nasty on Thursday. Parsons also gave the clearest signal yet that his relationship with the Cowboys is beyond saving by deleting any mention of the franchise from his X bio. The defensive star requested a trade away from the iconic franchise at the start of August, stating on social media that 'I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.' He has sat out all training camp practices this summer while seeking a long-term extension to make him one of the NFL's highest-paid defensive players. However, the four-time Pro Bowler has attended team meetings and walkthroughs. Cowboys owner Jones further ignited tensions on Thursday by making some bold claims, including that his offer to Parsons 'would've made him the highest-paid guaranteed player other than a quarterback in the NFL.' He also accused Parsons' agent David Mulugheta of deliberately sabotaging the negotiations. Jones said on Thursday: 'We had our agreements on term, amount, guarantees and everything. We were gonna send it over to the agent. 'The agent said, "Don't bother because we've got all that to negotiate." Well, I'd already negotiated that. I'd already moved off my mark on several areas. 'The issue, very frankly, is we've had the negotiation in my mind. The agent is trying to get his nose in it and trying to come in there and improve off what we've already said.' In response Parsons, 26, has seemingly reaffirmed his intention to leave by removing any mention of the Cowboys from his X account. Instead his bio now references 'Penn state 2021', where he played college football, followed by 'TBD' which suggests he is not considering a new deal with the Cowboys. He also changed his profile picture to a quote from Bible verse Micah 7-8, which reads: 'Even if I fall, I will rise; the Lord is my light'. Cowboys first-year coach Brian Schottenheimer said Wednesday he is confident Parsons will take the field for their Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. 'The business side of it is going to take care of itself,' Schottenheimer said. 'I think at the end of the day, we feel like Micah's going to be out there when we line up against Philadelphia here in 15 days or whatever it is. I feel good about that, yeah.' Parsons, 26, is under contract with a fifth-year option that would pay him $24million in 2025. Parsons removed any mention of the Cowboys from his X bio late on Thursday evening In 63 games over four seasons with Dallas, the superstar pass rusher has 256 tackles, 112 quarterback hits, 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He tallied 12 sacks, 43 tackles and two forced fumbles in 13 games last year. The Cowboys must finalize roster cuts down to 53 players by Tuesday, and the status of Parsons will affect other moves ahead of the team's meeting with the Super Bowl champions. 'I feel good that Micah's going to be out there against the Philadelphia Eagles,' Schottenheimer said, smiling. 'All those things will play into things.'

Reds try to control what they can entering series at D-backs
August 22 - The Cincinnati Reds enter a weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix looking to gain more ground in the tightening National League wild-card race. The Reds have gained five games on the New York Mets this month, moving to within half a game of the Mets for the third NL wild-card spot on their off day Thursday when Washington beat New York. Cincinnati will send right-hander Zack Littell (9-8, 3.52 ERA) to the mound in the first game of the series Friday. The Diamondbacks will counter with right-hander Ryne Nelson (6-3, 3.58). "To be honest, I'm not worried about anybody but our team," Reds catcher Jose Trevino said. "Take care of what we have to take care of first. ... That's how I go about it, and how a lot of us are going about it. "We're in a tight race. Do whatever we can to win a game. And whether another team wins or another team loses, it doesn't matter." The Reds have gained ground on every contender since Aug. 11 and are the only team in the majors that not been swept this season. Littell, who has established a career high in victories, will make his fourth start for Cincy after being obtained from Tampa Bay at the trade deadline. He is 1-0 with two quality starts and a 3.06 ERA with the Reds, beating the Chicago Cubs in his first start Aug. 5 before a pair of no-decisions against Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. Littell gave up one run on four hits to the Brewers the last time out and was in line for the victory until a ninth-inning throwing error by shortstop Elly De La Cruz enabled the Brewers to tie the game in their 6-5, 11-inning win. "We've got to be a little crisper on defense," Littell said afterward. "We've got to be better as a pitching staff going out there and attacking guys. It's really all around. If you want to play October baseball, it requires that type of level of play." Littell will make his second start at Chase Field this season after a quality start -- six innings, three earned runs -- in a 5-1 loss with the Rays on April 22. He is 1-1 with a 5.02 ERA in nine appearances (three starts) against the Diamondbacks. Arizona's Pavin Smith homered against him earlier this year. Nelson has worked to expand his repertoire to accompany a 95-mph fastball, his most effective pitch and one he uses about 62 percent of the time, according to FanGraphs. He threw 38 four-seam fastballs, 24 sliders and 19 cut fastballs in his last outing, a no-decision Saturday at Colorado. Nelson gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings and was in line for the victory until the Rockies rallied for a 10-7 win. "Get people off his fastball," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said of the adjustment. "It's 95-plus, it has a lot of hop on it. It's top of the zone. You have to really be a good hitter and stay on baseballs, and when he is changing speeds side to side like that, it is very, very impressive." Nelson was roughed up in his only previous start against Cincinnati on June 7, when he gave up seven runs and walked four in three innings of a 13-1 loss. --Field Level Media
