Kara Tointon pays tribute to her fiancé Marius Jensen on Father's Day after undergoing a double mastectomy

Daily Mail16-06-2025
Kara Tointon paid tribute to her fiancé Marius Jensen on Father's Day as she shared a series of adorable photos.
The former EastEnders actress, 41, who recently revealed that she's undergone a double mastectomy, said her children were 'incredibly lucky.'
Despite rumours in 2022 that she had split from Marius, the pair have put their troubles behind them and last year quit the UK for the peaceful Nordic countryside with their sons Frey, six, and Helly, four.
In the update shared to Instagram, Kara included photos of her partner swimming with Frey and Helly and enjoying the outdoors.
She wrote: 'Deserves his own late post… The boys are so incredibly lucky to have you for a Pappa.'

Kara recently revealed that she's undergone a double mastectomy after learning that she carries the deadly BRCA1 gene.
The actress shared an emotional post to Instagram detailing her decision after losing her mother to ovarian cancer in 2018.
She announced that she has undergone a double mastectomy and had her fallopian tubes removed as a preventative measure.
Kara's operation comes just six years after her mother Carol passed away following her own battle with the disease.
As an ambassador for the Eve appeal, a charity that raises awareness of gynaecological cancers, the actress opened up to her followers about the journey that led to her discovery that she carries the BRCA1 gene.
Speaking ahead of the charity's Get Lippy campaign to highlight the causes and symptoms of various gynae cancers, Kara revealed that after she losing her mother to ovarian cancer in 2018, she underwent genetic testing which revealed that she is predisposed to the disease.
She said: 'You may have heard of the BRCA genes type 1 and 2 and as a carrier it means that I am at a greater risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.
'Back in 2018 when my mum was undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer, I was asked to take a genetics test.'
In the update shared to Instagram, Kara included photos of her partner swimming with Frey and Helly and enjoying the outdoors
She added: 'There is a history of both cancers in my family but for various reasons including generational trauma of which I'll talk more about another time, we hadn't looked into it until that point.
'But it was put to us, we took the test and it was confirmed that my mum and I both carried the gene.'
As a mother-of-two, Kara told how her family were her main consideration in her decision making.
She said: 'I was pregnant with my first child at the time, knew I wanted more children if possible so over the next couple of years I was invited to various meetings by the NHS to really become informed and to understand all my options.
'Last year having had my second son in 2021 and deciding that our family was complete, I underwent two preventative surgeries.
The actress paid tribute to her late mother in a moving Instagram post (pictured), shared shortly after her death in 2019
'The first a double mastectomy and the second a two part protector study, a trial.
'They believe that ovarian cancer begins in the fallopian tubes so by removing them first checking out you can remove the ovaries later.'
Tointon, a former Strictly Come Dancing winner, revealed that after having several medical investigations, she decided that surgery was the best option.
'We are finding out more and more about personal genetics and most people believe in surveillance, but after doing this for a couple of years, having MRIs, waiting for biopsy, we decided that this was the right decision for me and my family,' she said.
'I wasn't an easy decision, but one I am very glad that I made and I can now with hindsight talk about it properly.'
Tointon is not the only woman in the public eye to talk openly about her procedure.
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie also had a double mastectomy as well as having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, after she was found to have a 50 per cent risk of developing ovarian cancer.'
Tointon raises two sons Frey and Helly with her Norwegian partner Marius, a chiropractor. The family divide their time between Britain and Norway where Kara's sister Hannah and her father still live.
Her own mother died of ovarian cancer in 2019, months after the actress revealed she had been struggling with poor health.
Speaking to HELLO! in 2018 about her plans to marry Jenson, she said: 'We are hoping next year, perhaps in Norway or maybe in London.
'My mum hasn't been too well over the last year or so and I want her to be able to enjoy it.
'Seeing her with Frey and dealing with everything she has to right now is overwhelming and I couldn't be more proud. I just want her to be back to herself again. That's our priority.'
What is the BRCA gene and how does it affect people's risk of cancer?
Having a mutated BRCA gene - as famously carried by Angelina Jolie - dramatically increases the chance a woman will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, from 12 per cent to 90 per cent.
Between one in 800 and one in 1,000 women carry a BRCA gene mutation, which increases the chances of breast and ovarian cancer.
Both BRCA1 and BRCA2 are genes that produce proteins to suppress tumours. When these are mutated, DNA damage can be caused and cells are more likely to become cancerous.
The mutations are usually inherited and increase the risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer significantly.
When a child has a parent who carries a mutation in one of these genes they have a 50 percent chance of inheriting the mutations.
About 1.3 per cent of women in the general population will develop ovarian cancer, this increase to 44 percent of women who inherit a harmful BRCA1 mutation.

James Middleton shares rare video of 'cheeky' son Inigo as toddler plays with family dogs and hikes with his mother on sun-soaked holiday

James Middleton has shared a touching message for his 'adventurous' and 'cheeky' son ahead of the toddler's second birthday in October. The brother of the Princess of Wales posted a heartwarming video of Inigo wandering through the countryside with his mother, Alizée Thevenet, and their dogs. The tot was seen throwing sticks into a small creek and even trying to push his mother into the water at one point. In the short clip, Inigo donned a khaki green dungarees romper, a blue T shirt and a sun hat to cover his face from the summer sunshine. Reflecting on Inigo's forthcoming birthday, James, 37, took to Instagram to post the candid clip alongside a heartfelt message celebrating the joy his son has brought into their lives. James wrote in his caption: 'My adventurous (and cheeky) little boy how are you nearly two already. 'Everyone says it goes fast…but I didn't realise it would be this fast'. The businessman and mental health advocate, who is known for his love of the outdoors and his close bond with his dogs, rarely shares intimate glimpses of family life. However, the sweet video offered his followers a unique look into the wholesome adventures that the family enjoy. James' followers rushed to the comments section to share their best wishes for Inigo - with one noting he would have a blast with his cousin, the Prince and Princess of Wales' youngest son, Prince Louis. One person wrote: 'I can imagine him and Prince Louis having a very fun mischievous time!' Another said: 'So precious. Thank you for sharing such a sweet clip of your darling family.' Someone else wrote: 'Gosh, he really is getting so big. AND he gets around so very well.' A fourth added: 'I love his spirit and adventurous nature.' James and Alizée, who tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in the South of France in 2021, welcomed Inigo in October 2023. Since then, James has occasionally posted glimpses of their rural life together, often surrounded by dogs, fields, and fresh air. James, who founded dog food company Ella & Co and has been open about his past struggles with depression, has previously credited nature, animals, and now fatherhood with transforming his mental health. In April, James shared another sweet glimpse into family life with his son Inigo and wife Alizée to celebrate his own birthday. Posted a sweet home video to his Instagram account, James filmed his 18-month-old happily eating breakfast outside with two of their dogs sat on the bench nearby. A very cheery Inigo then took to the seat of a red tractor, while Alizée watched on with the family's dogs. Wearing a personalised gilet, reading James&Ella - the name of James's dog food company - Inigo threw some feed to the family's chickens. Sharing the rare glimpse into family life, James reflected that there was 'no better birthday present' than spending time with his family. He wrote in his caption: 'Thank you, 38. I'm right where I'm meant to be. There is no better birthday present than that ❤️ 'Fresh air, wagging tails, and the wild, beautiful rhythm of family life. 'Moving in sync, tails wagging. On a journey, with Inigo at the wheel, headed wherever life takes us. 'Filled with joy, love and just the right amount of chaos.' James has frequently shared his love of dogs, and currently owns six: Zulu, Inka, Luna, Mabel, Nala and Isla. James is a breeder of cocker spaniels, and even gifted Kate and William his beloved black spaniel Orla in 2020, who has since appeared in several posts shared by the family - including Kate's cancer recovery video last year. He wrote a book about his beloved pup Ella, who passed away in 2023, and recently released a book called Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, which has been described as a 'love letter to man's best friend'. Last month, James shared an adorable tribute to his wife Alizee to celebrate Mother's Day. Kate's younger brother shared a gorgeous snap of Alizee and their son Inigo, one, to Instagram on Sunday. Alizee looked as glamorous as ever in a red knitted jumper as she stood enjoying the English countryside sunshine. She was holding Inigo, whom they welcomed in September 2023, who wore a knitted jumper with embroidered tractors as he faced away from the camera. James sweetly captioned the photo, writing: 'Happy Mothers to all the amazing Mothers but an extra bit of love for this one.' His sister Kate has also shared a photo to mark Mother's Day, as she shared a powerful video about healing in nature.

Alongside the beer, festivalgoers can enjoy cider and spirits from small-scale Scottish producers, all under one roof. ‌ One of the organisers, Ian McGrath of Beath Brewing, says Glasgow has become a key location in the UK's growing independent beer movement. 'We big have plans for Indie Beer festivals across the UK in 2026 but it all started right here in Scotland," he said. "We are hugely proud to be the flagship event for the Indie Beer campaign and to be the festival that showcases the largest number of Scottish beers from independent breweries available anywhere. ‌ 'No big brands, no faux-craft, just great beer from genuinely independent Scottish brewers.' In addition to championing local producers, Indie Beer Scotland has built a reputation for offering quality drinks at fair prices. ‌ Festival organisers have confirmed that all 2024 pricing will be frozen, with a wide range of beers up to 4.5% ABV available for just £4 a pint. 'We are really proud to offer great value for money and to enable everyone to sample the huge range of cask ales, keg beers and lagers available at Indie Beer Scotland, so have once again frozen our prices, with all beers up to 4.5% available for just £4 a pint,' McGrath added. From crisp lagers and light pale ales to robust scotch ales and rich barrel-aged stouts pushing 10% ABV or more, the selection reflects the diversity of Scotland's independent brewing scene. ‌ The festival promises something for every taste, with both session-strength beers and complex, high-ABV styles on offer. Channel 4 confirms Si King's 'first major solo project' after Hairy Bikers co-star Dave Myers' death - and it's worlds away from beloved cooking show

Si King 's 'first major solo project' following on from his Hairy Bikers co-star Dave Myers ' death has been revealed - and it's worlds away from their beloved cooking show. Dave died on 28 February 2024 at the age of 66, two years after he announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022. The celebrity chefs were known as the Hairy Bikers from the early 2000s and presented a number of TV shows which included their passion for cooking and motorbikes. Now, over a year on from his loss, Si has landed another telly show. This time he will be presenting a four-part series on More4 called Top Of The Stops, which will see the star have a look around some of the most 'unusual' train stations in the UK. Si will be joined by historian Siddy Holloway and architect Damion Burrows. Dave (pictured) died on 28 February 2024 at the age of 66, two years after he announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022. Fans will be happy to know that they won't have long to wait until Si is back on their screens - as it will premiere later this year. The show will be produced by Yeti Productions. Channel 4's official press release states: 'In his first series for Channel 4, Si will meet the people that keep these vital structures ticking and operating at their best. 'From the people who keep the trains and stations running to those who work to serve their passengers.' It adds: 'Alongside two experts, transport historian Siddy Holloway and architect Damion Burrows, Si will learn why these utilitarian buildings are so special as each episode tells a story of British history, industry and community. 'The series will follow Si as he discovers the structural feats that everyday commuters might miss. 'From city to coast, where the waves crash just metres away, the TV star will find out surprising and revelatory facts as he calls into each station.' Clemency Green, who is Channel 4's senior commissioning editor for lifestyle, said: 'As the rail network turns 200 years old, this series will spotlight the best of our country's engineering history in a different way. 'We're honoured Si will be presenting his first series for More4, and Yeti will no doubt deliver a captivating series that viewers will love to escape into.' Anna Davies, who is executive producer at Yeti Television, added: 'There's something uniquely British about our love of railways – but usually it's the trains, not the stations, that get the limelight. 'There are so many amazing stories to be uncovered in stations big and small, with unique characters who run them and incredible history, and Si is the perfect person to be taking us on that journey. It'll be Si's first appearance on telly since last year's The Hairy Bikers: You'll Never Walk Alone, which was described as an 'emotional ride', which Si celebrated the life of his best pal Dave. The TV show celebrated the duo's legacy in new one-off BBC that aired before Christmas. Earlier this month Dave's widow revealed the 'pain and suffering' hidden from his final Hairy Bikers TV series that she 'cant bring herself to watch'. Dave battled cancer while continuing to work alongside Si, though kept details of his cancer extremely private. As his wife Liliana Orzac, 57, continues to grieve, she's told fans how the BBC are planning to rerun his final episodes as part of the Hairy Bikers. The series, titled The Hairy Bikers Go West, was filmed in 2023 and aired in February 2024 - the same month of Dave's death. In a poignant post on her Facebook account, Liliana told fans: 'Heads up... BBC have been in touch to say they have planned in a repeat run of the 7-episode series 'The Hairy Bikers Go West' from Tuesday, July 15 July at 7pm. 'This is Dave's last series, filmed while he was in treatment... the one I couldn't bring my self to watch.' While Dave looked visibly unwell in the show, Liliana continued to tell fans about the effort he put into filming, despite the 'pain' and 'suffering' he endured. She said: 'For many reasons, this series is heartbreaking for me to watch, as I know how unwell he was and what a superhuman effort he made to finish the series. 'But also, I'll never forget the look on his face once filming was done. He knew it would be his last... my brave man!'
