Walkie-talkie listings on e-commerce platforms under fire, govt issues advisory to regulate illegal sales
A press release issued on 30 May states, 'The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, has notified Guidelines for the Prevention and Regulation of Illegal Listing and Sale of Radio Equipment including Walkie Talkies on E-Commerce Platforms, 2025.'

E-Commerce Platforms and sellers are strictly required to comply with the advisory that states, 'No radio equipment shall be listed or sold on e-commerce platforms if the possession or use of such equipment requires that a frequency assignment from the DOT shall be obtained by the buyer. Such equipment (licensed equipment) shall be purchased only from a dealer duly authorised by DOT (DPA holder) listed on the Saral Sanchar portal of DOT.'
Notably, the listing or sale of mobile signal boosters and wireless jammers online is illegal. Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, key regulatory and security concerns were raised that prompted the government to issue guidelines keeping in mind the safety of its citizens.

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said Delhi govt was digitising all its offices to accelerate the pace of administrative work. She stated that the e-Office platform has replaced traditional paper files with digital formats, making the workflow modern and efficient. Developed by the National Informatics Centre, Gupta said the e-Office platform showed remarkable results in July, with 119 of 199 departments of Delhi govt being fully operational on the platform, in comparison to just 43 in June. Photos recovered from an encounter site in 2024 helped identify Pahalgam terrorists
The three Pahalgam terrorists who were killed during Operation Mahadev on July 28 were identified and tracked with the help of photographs recovered from a mobile phone seized by the security forces after an encounter in south Kashmir in 2024, a senior government official said. The phone contained several pictures of the three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists identified as Suleman, alias Faizal Jatt, Hamza Afghani, and Zibran posing with guns and ammunition. As reported by The Hindu, a group of 20-25 hardened terrorists from Pakistan infiltrated around three years ago and are said to be operating in the forest and mountains across Pir Panjal in Jammu and the forests in south Kashmir. In 2024, the foreign terrorists split into two groups, one led by Suleman who was killed during Operation Mahadev on July 28 and the other group led by another Pakistani identified as Musa. Since 2021, around 150 security personnel have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir, likely carried out by the same group. 'After Operation Mahadev, we have received crucial information about the other foreign terrorists and we have launched operations to track them down,' said the official.
