England fans watch on nervously as Lionesses fall behind in final
William and Charlotte were pictured in Switzerland for the Euros final as the royal family led the nation in wishing good luck to England's Lionesses.
Shortly before kick-off, an image of the pair was posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales's X account with the caption 'let's go, Lionesses'.
As Caldentey's header found the net in the 25th minute, William and Charlotte were pictured with their heads in their hands and crowds in fanzones across England fell silent as they watched proceedings.
Before kick-off, supporters waved England flags and loudly sang the national anthem at Boxpark Croydon and star striker Michelle Agyemang's former team, Brandon Groves Community Club in Essex.
Agyemang, 19, who had one England cap before the tournament, scored crucial equalisers in the Lionesses' quarter-final and semi-final comebacks.
Ahead of the game, 11-year-old Violet Ingram, a left winger for Brandon Grove Emeralds, said: 'Seeing her (Agyemang) and the team just makes me feel like I can do anything I want to do.'
The Prince of Wales, who is patron of the Football Association (FA), applauded the national anthem as he stood next to Charlotte in the stadium.
In a show of support ahead of the final, the Band of the Grenadier Guards performed Three Lions on the Buckingham Palace forecourt, while the royal family's official X account posted: 'Wishing the very best of luck to the @Lionesses in the Women's Euro Final this evening.'
William posted a good luck message on Saturday which read: 'Good luck to the Lionesses tomorrow.

After England beat Italy 2-1 in the semi-final in Geneva on Tuesday evening, the King and Queen wished the team their 'warmest congratulations'.
Charles said: 'Knowing the Lionesses' fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.
'Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible.
'Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more. Charles R.'
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said: 'Into the final and inspiring the nation. Let's bring it home.'
He said the team had 'changed the game – breaking barriers, making history and inspiring the next generation.'
'Tonight, the whole nation will be behind them. Come on England!' Sir Keir said.

Meanwhile, cricketer Joe Root wished the Lionesses' the 'very best of luck' in an online message, adding: 'It's been great to watch you play throughout the tournament.'
Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson said the team has 'absolutely smashed it', adding that 'everybody is so proud of you'.
Meanwhile, BBC Sport and ITV have secured the broadcasting rights for the Women's World Cup 2027, meaning the tournament will remain free-to-air for UK viewers.
England's path to the final has been marked by late drama.
They sealed their spot with a last-gasp extra-time win over Italy, following a penalty shootout victory against Sweden in the quarter-finals after nearly crashing out in extra time.
The Lionesses will be looking for redemption against Spain, who edged them 1-0 in the 2023 Women's World Cup final.
England boss Sarina Wiegman said the team is 'going to do everything we can to win it' and she would prefer to avoid a 'nerve-wracking' match.

A young Edinburgh writer, 12-year-old Charlotte Hennessey, has won first prize in a national writing competition for young people, the Henrietta Branford Writing Competition. The annual competition runs in conjunction with the prestigious Branford Boase Award which recognises a debut children's author and their editor. It was set up in memory of the outstanding children's writer Henrietta Branford and the gifted editor, Wendy Boase, Editorial Director of Walker Books. The competition aims to find and encourage writers of the future, something Henrietta Branford was always keen to do. The award is open to anyone under the age of 19 and every year organisers say there are sackfuls of entries from all over the country. This year, inspired by last year's winner, author Nathanael Lessore (Steady For This, King Of Nothing, What Happens Online) entrants were asked to write a story that would make the judges laugh. Called An Unexpected Fashion Statement Charlotte's story follows an unknown fashion model who suddenly finds herself pushed on to the catwalk to cover for a missing colleague. The poor girl is, in turn, bewildered, embarrassed and humiliated but eventually she escapes and runs through the streets to hide in her apartment. Could it be that the whole incident was a clever publicity stunt? Competition judge Prue Goodwin said: 'This is a great concept and very well written! Charlotte shows real assurance in the writing, and we loved the laughter-in-spite-of-cringing element to the story.' Nathanael Lessore was also hugely impressed by the winning stories. He said: 'Writing funny stories is not easy, but Charlotte came up with a brilliant idea and her passion for storytelling leaps off the page too. Congratulations, Charlotte!' Michelle Agyemang emerged as an England hero during the Lionesses' triumph at Euro 2025 and the forward has spoken honestly about manager Sarina Wiegman England hero Michelle Agyemang has revealed how Lionesses' manager Sarina Wiegman played a crucial role in her success during Euro 2025. The Lionesses defended the European Championship trophy after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Spain. Agyemang may not have been one of the penalty takers in the final, but she contributed significantly to England's triumphant campaign. Despite having only one previous appearance before the tournament, scoring on her Lionesses debut in April, the 19-year-old was named in Wiegman's squad. The manager's bold decision paid off as Agyemang quickly established herself as England's super-sub, netting late equalisers against Sweden and Italy in the knockout rounds. The young Arsenal prospect had nothing but praise for Wiegman when asked for her thoughts on the England boss. "I think Sarina's amazing," Agyemang told Sky News. "I only met her probably three months before the tournament and to see the faith she put me in from day one, to make my debut in April. "To only have one appearance going into the Euros, to show that faith and that trust in me, shows how lovely she is as a woman and a coach. "She's like a mum to the team. She respects all of us and she wants the best for us. You can see it, we all want to play for her, for the rest of the team, and to go and win the game for her because she deserves it." Wiegman has now guided England to consecutive European Championship victories, after the team's Wembley triumph over Germany to win Euro 2022. The Lionesses' most recent silverware represents the first occasion that either the men's or women's senior team have claimed a major tournament on foreign soil. Agyemang wasn't included in the England squad until this year, but did have the chance to watch the Lionesses closely as a ball girl during one of Wiegman's first matches in charge at Wembley in 2021. Despite her lack of experience, Agyemang claimed the Young Player of the Tournament award and has truly impressed the England boss. "She has something special," Wiegman said following Agyemang's 96th-minute semi-final goal against Italy. "She's only 19 years old, she's very mature, she knows exactly what she has to do. "When you talk about little things that she picks up straight away, because she's not only in the 18-yard box very dangerous but when we have to go to her as a target player, she keeps the ball really well too. "Even when you saw her shot hit the crossbar, that was not just a shot, she was aiming for it. If she continues like this she has a very bright future." Agyemang earned her England call-up following impressive displays on loan at Brighton in the WSL last season. Wiegman revealed that Agyemang's approach to her loan spell showed that the young striker, who now boasts three goals in five England appearances, would thrive at international level. When asked whether Agyemang's performances had caused a selection dilemma during the tournament, the England manager explained: "She's not forcing me. She is very grateful that she gets minutes. She's ready for it. Her growth and development went so quickly. "From not starting at Brighton and being on loan, to getting lots more minutes, showing how good she is, and coming into our team, as things go it has been pretty smooth for her and I think she feels very good about that."
