Hello and welcome to Telegraph Sport's Premier League Clockwatch. There are three games kicking off at 2pm, with Chelsea v Liverpool to follow at 4.30pm. The most important is probably at the Amex Stadium, where Brighton host Newcastle. Both teams are still fighting for a place in Europe next season, Brighton in the Europa Conference, Newcastle in the Champions League.
Brentford, who meet Manchester United at the Gtech Stadium, are also in the fight for a Conference League place. Man Utd can't quality for Europe through the Premier League but have one foot in the Europa League final after their stirring 3-0 win in Bilbao on Thursday.
Even with such a comfortable lead, Ruben Amorim – who has made no attempt to hide the fact the Europa League is his priority – is likely to make a number of changes today.
'We know that we have always a responsibility but in this moment we have to take a risk [with team selection]. There are some positions that we don't have more players. For example, Nous Mazraoui cannot play. He is at the limit to get an injury.
'We have always a responsibility to perform. We have always a responsibility of the result. But in this moment we have to be clear: our focus is more on saving players and trying to be competitive. It's not a good thing to say but we need to understand the context.'
There is every chance of an all-English final after Spurs' 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in the other Europa League semi-final. Ange Postecoglou's side are at West Ham today; they will drop to 17th in the table if they lose.

'If he has another good season, I do think other teams with Real Madrid and the like will come in and go 'Bosh, we'll have him'. 'I think if Man United want him…if I'm Ruben Amorim I'm kind of bullish on that. I'd be saying 'get this deal done because then I can get you into Europe'. If they can sign him, he can move them up 10 spaces [in the Premier League ].' Ange Postecoglou was brutally sacked by Tottenham in June despite winning the Europa League - but he is clearly living his best life away from football. Postecoglou, 59, received an $8million payout from the Premier League club, and a recent TikTok video shows the ex-Socceroos boss isn't kicking stones as he patiently waits for his next managerial opportunity. 'Aussie Ange' can be seen dining at Sta Kala Kathoumena, an exclusive eatery on the Greek isle of Paros, where he rubbed shoulders with celebrity chef Stefanos Saratsis. As the former A-League coach at Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory watches on, Saratsis slices the steak into ribbons before spearing a section on to his knife to add seasoning. Postecoglou gestures his approval to the chef as the clip ends. It comes after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy recently revealed why Postecoglou was moved on from the North London club. 'Ultimately, the decision sits with me,' Levy said. 'Ange won us a trophy – a European trophy – highly significant and he's always going to be in our history. 'However, we couldn't lose sight of the fact that we finished 17th in the league, we lost 22 Premier League games... it is impossible for Tottenham to be in that position. 'We had to take the emotion out of it. 'Whichever level you do it, no one likes telling somebody, "You're losing your job", but it is the nature of football. 'We are there to win and yes, we won a European trophy – and it was fantastic – but we also need to win on all fronts – and the Premier League says it all.' Levy then swiftly appointed former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as Spurs' new manager in June. Harry Maguire hopeful ‘fresh start' can lead to change in Man Utd fortunes
United's post-Ferguson malaise hit an all-time low after a 15th-placed finish – their worst ever in the Premier League – and not even a run to the Europa League final, where they lost to Tottenham, could paper over the cracks. But the big-name signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, as well as a £50million training ground upgrade, have given United a spring in their step to go into the new campaign. They welcome old rivals Arsenal in their season opener on Sunday and Maguire, appearing on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, said: 'The lads are working hard and it's a great atmosphere in the place. 'We want to be successful, we're doing everything we can to be successful. Sometimes we know it's not been good enough for a recent (period) and we've not given our fans as much. 'I feel like it's almost a little bit of a fresh start and hopefully this start is a good start.' Maguire, who missed the start of a pre-season trip to the United States for a personal matter, joined United six years ago from Leicester in an £80million deal, a then world record fee for a defender. His signing is among a number of eye-popping sums United have spent but consistent success under any manager has eluded them in the last dozen years since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure. Maguire said: 'There has been a transition period, obviously, when Sir Alex was here and we had the best team by far and won all the trophies. But the reality is that we're not the best team. 'You've got to thrive off the pressure and you've got to play like you're playing in a playground. I think that's what we've struggled to find over the last 10 years.' Maguire has polarised opinion at Old Trafford and his days appeared numbered under former manager Erik ten Hag, who stripped the England centre-back of the captaincy and dropped him from the first team. A move to West Ham in 2023 collapsed as Maguire decided to fight for his place and he has found himself back in favour since Ten Hag was dismissed and replaced by incumbent boss Ruben Amorim last year. Indeed, a 12-month extension to his contract was triggered in January and United have reportedly rejected overtures from a number of clubs to keep Maguire, whose deal expires at the end of the season.
