Dan Rivera: New England Paranormal Investigator Dies 'Under Suspicious Circumstances' During 'Haunted' Annabelle Tour
Dan Rivera, of Bridgeport, Connecticut - the senior lead investigator of the New England Society for Psychic Research's (NESPR) - died suddenly at age 54 on Sunday, according to NESPR. He was on tour for an event showcasing Annabelle in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, at the time, but it is not yet clear how he died.

"Dan was not only a vital part of our team for over a decade, but also a deeply compassionate, loyal, and dedicated friend," NESPR wrote in a statement Tuesday night.
Rivera's cause of death is still being determined by the local coroner's office, but he is not believed to have died under suspicious circumstances. The coroner's office told the newspaper he was found alone in his hotel room.
The Annabelle Tour
As reported by Mass Live, Rivera was a helping lead at a sold-out event in Gettysburg on Saturday, the newspaper reported, showcasing Annabelle to attendees. The event was part of the nationwide "Devils on the Run" tour in which NESPR members were sharing the doll with fans.
"Experience a chilling night of paranormal history as the infamous Annabelle doll visits Gettysburg's Haunted Orphanage," read the description of the event, which allowed visitors to view the real Annabelle doll and other haunted artifacts.
The Connecticut-based paranormal society doesn't know "what the future of NESPR will look like without Dan," but plans to move forward with the other events it previously scheduled for later in the year, NESPR said Tuesday.
"We believe with all our hearts that Dan would have wanted the work to continue — bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and honoring the memory of Ed & Lorraine Warren," NESPR wrote. "We will carry his spirit with us in everything we do."
What is NESPR?
NESPR was founded by controversial, self-proclaimed demon-hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren. The late couple are the main characters in "The Conjuring" movie series and were Annabelle's caretakers.
The Warrens were called in to investigate the antique doll in 1968 after a student nurse — who'd received Annabelle as a gift — noticed "strange occurrences" involving the doll, according to NESPR's website. A medium later told the student and her roommate that the toy doll was possessed by a young girl named Annabelle.
The two women tried to appease Annabelle, but the doll responded only with "maliciousness and violent intent," according to NESPR's website. The Warrens eventually took Annabelle to their Monroe, Connecticut, occult museum and put her in a glass box "to contain the evil spirited entity."
The doll was showcased there for decades until the museum closed in 2019 due to zoning issues. NESPR members have remained Annabelle's keepers since that time.

HANOI - Vietnam's police ministry has agreed to buy two Lockheed Martin helicopters, according to three people with knowledge of the talks, in what would be a key security deal since Washington lifted an arms embargo on the Communist-run nation a decade ago. The deal would come after the country's ministry of public security held protracted talks since at least 2022 with multiple U.S. defence companies to acquire helicopters. Lockheed Martin is also negotiating with Vietnam's defence ministry the sale of C-130 military transport planes, multiple officials have said. The Southeast Asian country, which relies heavily on Russian weapons, has been looking for years to diversify its arsenal. It is also currently negotiating with the Trump administration key elements of a tariff deal that is crucial to maintain access to its largest export market. Vietnamese pilots have already been training with Lockheed Martin's Sikorsky helicopters, one of the sources with direct knowledge said, noting the deal was worth more than $100 million and could include more choppers at a later stage. Microsoft says some SharePoint server hackers now using ransomware
[WASHINGTON] A cyber-espionage campaign centred on vulnerable versions of Microsoft's server software now involves the deployment of ransomware, Microsoft said in a late Wednesday (Jul 23) blog post. In the post, citing 'expanded analysis and threat intelligence', Microsoft said a group it dubs 'Storm-2603' is using the vulnerability to seed the ransomware, which typically works by paralysing victims' networks until a digital currency payment is made. The disclosure marks a potential escalation in the campaign, which has already hit at least 400 victims, according to Netherlands-based cybersecurity firm Eye Security. Unlike typical state-backed hacker campaigns, which are aimed at stealing data, ransomware can cause widespread disruption depending on where it lands. The figure of 400 victims represents a sharp rise from the 100 organisations catalogued over the weekend. Eye Security says the figure is likely an undercount. 'There are many more, because not all attack vectors have left artifacts that we could scan for,' said Vaisha Bernard, the chief hacker for Eye Security, which was among the first organisations to flag the breaches. The details of most of the victim organisations have not yet been fully disclosed, but on Wednesday, a representative for the National Institutes of Health confirmed that one of the organisation's servers had been compromised. The spy campaign began after Microsoft failed to fully patch a security hole in its SharePoint server software, kicking off a scramble to fix the vulnerability when it was discovered.
