5 of the best speakeasy bars in Abu Dhabi
Give in…
What happens at a speakeasy, stays at a speakeasy. Which is possibly why these establishments have become such a hit with the bar-hoppers in this town. On that note, here are 5 of the best speakeasy bars in Abu Dhabi you must try. For when you really need to keep an eye out…
…so you don't miss the entrance that leads you into this secret soiree spot at Rosewood Abu Dhabi. Hidden Bar offers gorgeous waterfront and skyline views, but it's mainly a spot that pays homage to gin, with over 200 varieties and more than 10 types of tonic, in addition to refined nibbles and premium wine selections.
Rosewood Abu Dhabi, Al Maryah Island, 5pm onwards. Tel: (02) 813 5550. @rosewoodabudhabi For breathtaking interiors
Luxe bar and lounge Perlage has had capitalites wowed from the get-go, since their launch in late 2023. Deep red hues and signature speakeasy vibes welcome you to chic luxury like few other spots do, and you'll want to kick back and relax as you show up at your finest to enjoy this experience. It's theatrical, it's sultry, and it's where you want to be this weekend.
Perlage, The Galleria Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, Tuesday to Sunday, 8pm to 3am. Tel: (0)58 288 8164. @barperlageae For a sophisticated meetup
If you're still reading, you're clearly a fan of hidden bars, which means you shouldn't miss this one. Located at Al Bateen's Abu Dhabi EDITION, Library Bar regularly ranks among the capital's top bars, and there's never a bad time to find out why. They consistently host exciting takeovers featuring big names from around the world, and have an exciting menu that's waiting to be unravelled.
Library Bar, The Abu Dhabi Edition, Al Bateen, 5pm to midnight Sun to Thurs, 5pm to 1am Fri and Sat. Tel: (02) 208 0000. @abudhabiedition For the ideal ladies' night out
Dragon's Tooth at Rosewood Abu Dhabi is often our favourite speakeasy in the capital. In addition to being just that with room for only a small party of patrons, it also hosts a great ladies' night, with Tales of the Orient offering two signature cocktails – each inspired by one of eight remarkable personalities, alongside a choice of two legendary dim sum selections from a curated menu.
Dragon's Tooth, Rosewood Abu Dhabi, Thurs and Fri, 5pm to 1am, Dhs125, Tel: (0) 2 813 5588, @rosewoodabudhabi For a slice of 1920s Chicago
Step back in time to the Roaring Twenties, and lose yourself to a speakeasy vibe native to The Windy City when you find your way to The Hideaway, at the Four Seasons Abu Dhabi. Get set for one surprise after another, as you enjoy the exclusivity and attention-to-detail this venue has to offer. Hint: turn into What's On Abu Dhabi's Restaurant of the Year, Butcher & Still, and then ask around – you just might find it. Speakeasy? Private dining? Decide for yourself.
Butcher and Still, Four Seasons Abu Dhabi, The Galleria Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, min. spend Dhs10,000. @fsabudhabi And when you're seeking stunning views…
…on that trip to neighbouring Dubai – head to the high-luxury SLS Dubai and get whisked away to Level 74, where Smoke & Mirrors awaits. With incredible vistas of Dubai and a tranquility native only to a speakeasy, this cooler-than-ice bar is all you want from a speakeasy, and shrouded in dark-hued mystery. It's not just about the drinks, however – a menu that packs dishes such as the grilled Picañha a La Parrilla, and special themed evenings such as the Industry Night and the Sunday Gents' Night make it an all-star addition to the nightlife scene.
SLS Dubai, Business Bay, Dubai, 5pm to 2am daily. @smokeandmirrorsdubai

The best beaches in Abu Dhabi for a day in the sun
While it can be relaxing to sit by the pool and sip on beverages, there's nothing better than putting your feet in warm sand. If you're looking for the best beaches in Abu Dhabi, we have you covered. Abu Dhabi might be a bustling city with glamorous skyscrapers and breathtaking architecture, but it also makes for the perfect sun, sea and sand destination thanks to its beautiful beaches. Whether you're a resident in the city or a tourist, you can spend your days dipping in and out of crystal-clear oceans and soaking up the sun, enjoy evenings watching a picturesque sunset over the Arabian Sea or be the life of the party at one of Abu Dhabi's popular beach clubs. The capital is home to an array of both private and public beaches that are all worth a visit. Here are the best beaches in Abu Dhabi. Al Maya Island & Resort If you want to relax but also like a party atmosphere then this could be ideal: Al Maya has one of the best beaches in Abu Dhabi for a party. Especially for the ladies, who get to go free if they arrive before 3pm all week. Catch a boat from a dock next to the Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana and then take a 20-minute jaunt over to this resort. On weekends there's a party atmosphere where you can lie on one of the many sun loungers, sit around the poolside bar, hit the dance floor and party to tunes being spun by top DJs, or jump into the massive pool and socialise around the swim-up bar. Dhs200 (weekdays) Dhs250 (weekends and public holidays). Open Sun-Fri, 10am-8pm, (02 667 7777 ). Al Bateen With stunning views of Hudayriat Island and the bridge, Al Bateen Beach caters to everyone. There are locals, residents and tourists and because of its calm, shallow waters and a prestigious Blue Flag sustainability award by the Emirates Wildlife Authority, it's a great option for families too. There are also several food and beverage outlets, volleyball courts, sports activities, washrooms, changing rooms and showers. Free. Open daily 8am-sunset. Al Bateen Beach, Khalifa Al Mubarak Street, off Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street. Corniche beach You've probably driven past it lots of times but have you ever spent a day on the beach on the Corniche? It's one of the best beaches in Abu Dhabi for a quick trip. The pristine beachfront is a fantastic family spot on which to enjoy a relaxed day. The seaside boardwalk is four miles long and the walkways are paved and dotted with benches and gardens that overlook the ocean. Surrounding the Corniche beach there are children's play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, cafés and restaurants. Dhs10 for adults and Dh5 for kids over five, Dhs25 per sun lounger. Open daily 8am-8pm. Corniche Rd. Kai Beach Saadiyat Looking for the best beach not just in Abu Dhabi but the whole of the Middle East? Well, you are in luck because it happens to be right here on our doorstep. The dreamy Saadiyat Island was named 'Middle East's Leading Beach Destination' for the 11th consecutive year in 2024 (yes, 11 years) and Kai Beach happens to be one of the beaches on Saadiyat's shores. Open daily from 7am to sunset, there are no reservations and entry is on a first come first served basis. Dhs150 (adults, Mon-Thu, Dhs50 redeemable on F&B), Dhs75 (kids, Mon-Thu, Dhs25 redeemable on F&B), Dhs150 (Fri, ladies only), Dhs225 (adults, Sat-Sun, Dhs50 redeemable on F&B), Dhs100 (kids, Sat-Sun, Dhs25 redeemable on F&B). Open daily 7amsunset. Kai Beach, Saadiyat Island, Hudayriat Beach Located in Hudayriat Island, this beach keeps getting better and better. There are plenty of food trucks and restaurants around for when hunger strikes (Wingstop, W.T.F. and Shrimp Pot are just some of the options), plus plenty of fun activities for kids and adults alike. We're talking kids' pool and a splash park, a volleyball court, an outdoor gym and cycle paths. Oh, and did we mention it's free? Yep, pretty awesome. Free. Open daily 8am to 7pm. Hudayriat Beach, Hudayriat Island, @marsanahudayriyat. Mamsha Beach Saadiyat Island (formerly Soul Beach) Soul Beach closed for refurbishment earlier this year and, in the words of the T-Swift, she can't come to the phone because… it now answers to Mamsha Beach Saadiyat Island (which makes sense since it's on – you guessed it – Mamsha). An easy choice when you want a day of complete beach bliss, it boasts powdery white sand and Saadiyat blues – what more could you ask for? Not only will you get a 10/10 beach day but you also have some pretty good restaurants within walking distance. There's Pickl for a great burger, Italian favourite Antonia (the winner for best Casual Dining at the Time out Abu Dhabi Awards 2025), Niri (the winner for Best Japanese at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards 2025) and TOTÓ (highly commended), Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Nadal's first restaurant in the capital. Open daily 8am-sunset. Mamsha Al Saadiyat, Saadiyat Island. @mamshabeachsaadiyat (050 929 0936). Marsana Beach There are two Marsana beaches to pick from: East and West. Marsana East opened recently and it offers premium amenities for Dhs50 on weekdays and Dhs100 on the weekends. Marsana West offers a cheaper alternative – Dhs25 on weekdays and Dhs50 on weekends. They're both located on Hudayriat Island, right next to free Hudayriat Beach. From Dhs25. Open daily 8am to 7pm. Marsana Beach, Hudayriat Island, @marsanahudayriyat. Yas Beach Styling itself as a 'beach playground' big on beats and brunches, Yas Beach is a must-visit spot – especially because of its prime location to watch the sunset. The club is home to restaurants and a bar, as well as being a spot to enjoy plenty of watersports. There's a fee to get in, but it's also free if you're staying at any of the hotels on Yas Island. Open daily 10am-7pm. Dhs80 (adults, Mon-Thu), Dhs150 (adults Fri-Sun, public holidays), free (kids 11 and under when with an adult). Yas Beach, Yas Island. @ (056 242 0435). These brand-new Yas Island residences completely sold out in one day
Yas Island just dropped a major flex. The capital's hottest new address – the Waldorf Astoria Residences Yas – sold out all 133 units in just one day. That's Dhs850 million in sales before the ink was even dry, setting a new price-per-square-metre record for the island at a jaw-dropping Dhs37,000. That's not just a splash; that's a cannonball into the deep end of the luxury market. So, what makes this place so irresistible? Think five-star hotel service, panoramic views over Yas Links Golf Course and the Yas Marina Circuit and ultra-luxe living from a brand that practically invented glamour. It's Waldorf Astoria's first-ever residential project in Abu Dhabi and clearly, that name still carries serious weight – especially when teamed up with Yas Island's global clout. Buyers weren't just local, either. The biggest chunk of interest came from the UK, China and the UAE, with 76 percent of the sales going to expats and international investors. First-time Aldar buyers made up 70 percent of the buyers and here's a stat that might surprise you – 66 percent of buyers were under 45. So, yes, luxury living is getting younger, faster and savvier. The homes range from stylish one-beds to sprawling four-bedroom penthouses, each fully furnished and built for people who expect their homes to come with concierge service, resort-level amenities and bragging rights. Set right on Yas Island, you're never far from a mega-mall, a race track, a rollercoaster or an award-winning meal – this is living large, Abu Dhabi style. And if you missed out? Consider it a wake-up call. Yas Island is only getting hotter and Aldar clearly knows how to throw a launch.
